DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/2/2008 1:30:47 AM)

Week Eight results have been posted.

The Keltics are back in the spotlight.

garysorrell -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/2/2008 1:53:20 AM)

Whew....CC back in the win column.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/5/2008 9:02:15 AM)

Week Nine results have been posted. It's tight in the East and West as the league heads into final two weeks of play.

There's an upset in the spotlight. But, a bigger upset happened elswhere. Who?

Big, BIG match up next week could determine East champ and playoff ramifications.

dreamtheatervt -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/5/2008 6:45:38 PM)

Alright, it's time to pull a Miami Heat and tank the rest of the year for a better draft position.

The Monarchs are the only team to make the playoffs every season since the league opened three season's ago. Sadly the streak will come to an end this season.

Frido1207 -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/5/2008 11:02:18 PM)

Dear DreamTeams,
as a longtime fan of the Bay City Comets, i might ask you, if they shoudn´t consider to hire a new coach for the new season.
They have again a good defence (2nd best concerning points allowed), but they have also again the -by far- worst offense (concerning points scored). So the season is again over after 8 or 9 weeks. I know its not easy for an expension team to establish against hard opponents, but I also heard about rumors, that some key players are quite disappointed, & also that their fans would love to see some more explosive offense action?!

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/6/2008 5:47:49 AM)

Howdy th1207,

Thanks for the question. Here's how MFL coaching tenure works...

...I use a very simple procedure to determine a coaches tenure with a certain team. If after five seasons the coach has led his team to more winning seasons than losing seasons or has taken his team to the playoffs, he is extended for five more seasons (up to 20 seasons). If not he is automatically fired and is placed in the inactive coaches pool until he is either hired by a team or his tenure expires. If a coach wins a Metro Bowl title he will automatically remain with the team until his retirement. After each season I create a few more coaches and place them in the coaches pool where they stay until they are hired or their tenure expires.)...

So, applying the MFL tenure procedure, coach Hernandez has been with the Comets for two seasons (including this season), so he has three more seasons left on his tenure with the team before his win-loss record comes up for review. Looks like the Comets are stuck with him for a time.

However, the Comets made a huge draft pick-up last season with a franchise QB in McDoogle. They'll need to continue adding pieces offensively (mostly by way of draft) over the next few seasons to have a real shot at contention. By that time, (if things continue for Hernandez as they are) it looks like they'll be poised for a new coach.

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/6/2008 11:05:56 PM)

BigSmooth -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (7/8/2008 2:06:27 AM)

Cape City will have to have another statement game against the Cyclones. It's getting interesting in the East Conference.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (8/5/2008 5:53:05 AM)

Another season is on the books. It was quite a wild ride, but enjoyable none the less.

There will be no coaching changes this offseason, but several coaches come up for review after next season. I'll be taking a break the next couple months or so and will return for season five after that. garysorrell -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (8/5/2008 6:24:36 AM)

Wow, the Makos got hammered by retirements.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (8/5/2008 6:50:06 AM)

Here are the latest stadium changes...

The Jackets will play in the DonStadia (local8h) model.
The Kodiaks will play in the Bedrock (local8h) model.
The Colonials will play in the USA (garysorrell) model.
And in case you hadn't noticed the Keltics switched to the Gigantus (created by garrysorrell, edited to be 4 sided by local8h) model during the season.

Click on the team page then the stadium link under each of these teams to get a quick glimpse at these fine stadiums decked out in team colors.

Enjoy.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DuPre is gone....damn...

whats with all "my" players retiring the last two years, every single one of my favorite players has retired. We better get a superstar rookie, but damn, we're going to be hurting next season...

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (8/7/2008 9:39:25 AM)

We lost so many DB's also, wow....

Gonna be interesting to see the roster going into season 5...

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (8/27/2008 7:41:49 AM)

Just completed the draft.

Site has been updated with a quick glimpse at the first round picks.

Who did your favorite team land?

jdhalfrack -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (8/27/2008 12:22:50 PM)

Man... what the hell happened last season?! I stop watching for one season and the Seaside Invaders turn into the Seaside Suck... 322 points allowed?! That's awful. But, at least they didn't lose much in the way of retirements. Plus, Bossell will be a key addition to the defense. Nice draft pick. I already bought his jersey. Hopefully he can help turn this team around!

JD

Since this is the 5th season, when can we expect the MFL Hall Of Fame to be erected.

I'm not sure, BigSmooth if I'm going to even have a HoF. Not having the stats migrate from the first three seasons would make for a lot of calcultions I don't have time to do. But, it's definately something I've thought about. I've also thought about starting from the current season forward as the game is now traking career stats.

We'll see.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 4 (8/27/2008 10:54:11 PM)

Ok still gearing up for season five. Here's what I've been up to lately...

- Just added a Playoff History Page to celebrate the MFL's fifth season of play. Here you can re-live every post season game from the last four seasons. (Click on 'Playoff History' when at site.)

- Next season's schedule has been posted to the site.

- Team rosters have been posted. (Starting with season five I will only be posting the roster pages at the beginning of each season instead of after each sim. This will save time. However, I will also be using the Garysorrel/Tullius approach to the season stat page. This will yield better results than what the game out puts.) I also plan to list injury updates on a separate page.

Here are a few more changes for next season...

- The play clock will go from 20 seconds to 25 seconds.

- Kicks-off has been moved from the 30 yard line to the 40 yard line.

- The Keltics have discarded the green helmet and will play in a white helmet next season. (You can see the updated helmet at the team page.

- Actually thought about switching to a sudden death overtime this season. But, decided against it. I still believe that overtime should be completely played out and if both teams play to draw, so be it. (Except in post-season) Overtime will remain as it is.

Would like to wait on the patch because of the documented stat issue currently plaguing the game. Still, I'm itching to get going. Hopefully soon.
