That's very kind but the reality is I'm simply posting the Wikipedia entry for the current page year. It seems to work best when I post under Windows as the fast reply uses the smart editor and keeps the links intact.

You can always go to the wikipedia and search the year number. Indeed they have a pretty cool little link box in the upper right where you can 'browse' a century. It's quite fascinating.

Holy cow. No worries Mynok. Will do exactly what you suggest. Keep on, keeping on.

Thanks for the posts. Really cool. John

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:38:59 PM)

Yup... Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Rebs to whip... JEB Stuart and Earl van Dorn are starting to irritate me with their little horse escapades...

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:42:04 PM)

Is it a good game?

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:42:54 PM)

Hi Bruce! Hi T! Hi Mynok (if you're still around)!

Hi Bruce! Hi T! Hi Mynok (if you're still around)!

Major Mike!! Good to see you!

How's it going???

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:47:09 PM)

Hi Bob! It's going well. Just really busy with work, job search, removing wallpaper, patching, painting, and yard work. I haven't opened WitP in months. I miss it a bunch.

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:47:12 PM)

Hi Mike. How goes the painting?

[:(]

Well, ditch that stuff... come back, we miss you!! [:D]

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:49:04 PM)

The painting has slowed down with nice weather. Unless it rains, we have been working outside clearing overgrown areas. I figure another week or two of that and we'll be done. Then back to walls full time. I have discovered that I'm immune to the effects of poison ivy. [:D]

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:49:43 PM)

What are you guys going to do with the threadwar when AE arrives?

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:51:00 PM)

Can we start over?[:D]

Keep at it.... eventually it will get you... [X(] [:(] Your immune system gets a bump everytime you get exposed, and eventually it will react with a vengeance (as i have found to my sorrow).

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:52:39 PM)

I stay away from the stuff.

Eh, well, much as i'd like to think AE will be perfect from the start, looking at WITP as a guide: it took about 2 years for a stable version to be available... personally, i think we should stick with it for the forseeable future.

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:55:10 PM)

Don't worry. I stay away from it too. My wife's system doesn't like it at all so I get to wade in and remove the stuff. I cover myself as much as possible. About a week ago I had a big vine of the stuff catch me in the face. Not a bump, not a blister, not an itch. Whew!

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:55:33 PM)

That is actually my plan

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:56:31 PM)

I expect to spend at least 6 months playing with it and gathering all the data I'll need. Just think of all the new spreadsheets! [:D] I've been figuring out new designs for some of them. WitP was a great learning tool for my spreadsheets. [:D]

Don't breath it in.[X(]

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:57:42 PM)

Hi, fellas!  [:)]

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:58:02 PM)

I dont' intend to, Bruce. I think we've cleared just about all the poison ivy in our yard. Just miscellaneous brush and a small pond to clear out.

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:58:58 PM)

How big is your yard?

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:59:07 PM)

Now that I've learned that we can keep our WitP installation intact, I expect Mynok and I will keep our CHS game going for a while, while we play with AE.

Maybe I should actually discuss it with him.  [;)][:D]

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 9:59:56 PM)

"Clearing out our yard" means scooping the dog doo.  We live in a townhouse with just a small fenced yard.  [:)]

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 10:00:20 PM)

I had my first full massage today.  Heavenly!  [&o]

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 10:02:05 PM)

Time to get ready for dinner.  Have a great evening, Brothers.  [8D]

Yup, War Between The States is really growing on me.

It's May of '62, and my Union army in Louisville just suffered a big fat Confederate cavalry raid, which burned and stole my supplies, tore up my railroad tracks and destroyed one of the two cavalry regiments that was supposed to screen me. Damn you, van Dorn! Damn you to heck!

Oh well, at least the naval war had some good news, with Confederate commerce raider (read: no-good pirate) Raphael Semmes meeting his long-overdue demise.

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 10:05:05 PM)

No dogs here. The yard is only half an acre, but the crazy we bought the house from sold lilys and irises for a living. He had about a dozen huge flower beds loaded with the stupid things. We've been slowly removing the beds over the years but couldn't keep up with the remaining ones. We've just about finished clearing out the last (and biggest) one we're going to remove. In the middle of it is a pond (about 5' x 10') that is overgrown. That's the last thing to do. It means more grass to cut, but that's much easier than weeding flower beds all the time.

Who did it, a woman or guy?

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!! (7/18/2009 10:12:48 PM)

I don't know about him, but my massage therapist is a woman.
