Mobius -> Forum Timing Out Faster (8/25/2008 7:03:25 PM)

It seems like the forum is timing me out at as faster pace than I remember.

While typing in, or pasting the text to somewhere with a spell checker and pasting back I find that the session has timed out and as Guest I can't post and my text is all lost.

Before I press OK to post I now must highlight and cntrl-C to insure the post is saved.

I'd like to comment on it, but I'm afraid I get logged out while typing another batch of nonsense [:D]

Same problem here.[&:]

hermanhum -> Problem (8/25/2008 11:48:13 PM)

I concur. [:(]

JamesM -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 1:15:00 AM)

What browser are you using?

I am using Firefox 3 and I do not seem to have those problems.

hermanhum -> Problem (8/26/2008 2:04:52 AM)

Firefox 2.0.0.16

Fred98 -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 3:04:52 AM)

I use the Microsoft browser and don't have that problem.

KG Erwin -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 3:57:12 AM)

You guys aren't alone. It's been going on since the forums moved to their new servers. See this thread: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1854907

Alex Fiedler -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 7:19:27 AM)

Hi guys, I have updated a setting on the server.

Since I could not replicate the problem though, could you guys try posting now and let me know if its still happening for you?

wosung -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 8:04:12 AM)

Faster time out is not only while trying to post. Even just reading a long post is enough for not being able to change to another thread or sub forum. Everytime have to close my browser (firefox 3.0). Matrix webside seems to be the only one with  this behavior. Not even The Wargamer acts  this way. Its is annoying.

Regards

hermanhum -> Problem (8/26/2008 8:21:51 AM)

Waited 20 mins before posting this message. Looks like it went through. So far so good...

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 9:51:22 AM)

I used Netscape, Foxfire and IE, all 3 get logged off, at times each time you try to post

today has been very bad

and just in case, just happened about 5 minutes ago again

Alex Fiedler -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 10:27:30 AM)

Sarge, does it happen every time you try to post, or only sometimes?

Also, what if you click the Post Reply button to bring up the reply window, but then close it without submitting it. Does that log you out too, or is only when you actually try to submit the form?

I'm using Firefox3 as well, and still cant replicate the problem.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 11:39:24 AM)

it does not happen all of the time, just sometimes and today, yesterday it has been bad again

it can happen when I try to post, it can happen when I am reading a post, it can happen when I am in the forum, just sitting around

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 11:55:31 AM)

just posted a screen shot, and two posts explaining what it was showing, then when I went to finish the 2nd post it logged me off

twice it wouldn't let me log back in, the 3rd time it did (had to shut down fourm and come back)

and it just logged me out before I could post this

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 11:56:52 AM)

and just logged me off after posting that

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 12:03:58 PM)

it is logging me out faster then I can log in right now

it will show me successful log in, show my name at the top of the post, when I get to the bottom of the post to write something, I am already logged off

I had to go to IE to try to post this

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 12:04:36 PM)

for what it is worth, it seems like the General Fourm is worse then the beta or other fourms ????

Terl -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 1:14:04 PM)

Yes, it is indeed bad.  I have been logged out a couple times this morning.

Alex Fiedler -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 3:17:47 PM)

I am looking into the issue with the server to try and fix it asap.

In the meantime, you can also log in using cookies instead of sessions by ticking the "Save as Cookie" tickbox. This should help the situation, and prevent you from being logged out when the site loses its sessions.

Joram -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 4:04:03 PM)

Doesn't work for me, this is a very annoying bug.  Luckily intermittent but it is frustrating to post here.

I type address and get in forums. I'm automatically logged in, some cookie thing from previous session (save as cookie checked).
I read thread about Marc's wedding. I typed (another) reply. Post didn't pass through, I got error. That was just minutes ago.
I hit back button. I log in, prepare post (again), it goes through.
I read this forum up to quote above. I type this reply. Let's see what happens now when I hit OK...

[edit]
Post went through on first try... this time
I'm using IE, as usual. Have had this problem few times before. But now it's happened in TWICE in this week!

I am reasigning a cookie each time it logs me off, and it still logs me off

right now with Netscape it is logging me off before I can reach the bottom of the post, I am on IE to try and post this

Zakhal -> RE: Problem (8/26/2008 10:10:00 PM)

Im getting logged out all the time. Som times in just few minutes after login. I use firefox 3.0.

I cleared cache in firefox (välimuisti in finnish if it was correct) - hopefully that helps - usually it does.

Alex Fiedler -> RE: Problem (8/27/2008 3:39:03 AM)

Ok, I made another change to the forums, so lets see if works better now.

You may need to shutdown your browser and log in again, but let me know if it keeps logging you out.

terje439 -> RE: Problem (8/27/2008 8:41:00 AM)

I still get logged out every now and then, twice the past 30 mins. Some days I can post as much as I want with no issues, other days I cannot even type two words without getting timed out.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/27/2008 10:54:07 AM)

well, I am able to get to the reply area now at least :)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Problem (8/27/2008 11:03:50 AM)

overall, looking good, so far, but it does tend to go in spots, but hopefully this will get it working better

Zakhal -> RE: Problem (8/27/2008 3:51:18 PM)

I dont know whether it was the cleaning of the cache or change in forums but so far so good.

Cmdrcain -> RE: Problem (8/27/2008 10:51:05 PM)

Was AFK a bit , 10+ Min and it timed me out..

Simply trying refresh (cookies enabled... WORKED in old times) failed

Had to close FF and restart to get into forum again

This is NOT like old site where I could go AFK for a hour and still pickup my forum reading right off!

If a New Hosting Company, its bad
