And here´s the interesting screenshot of this turn. What the heck is Miller up to? We´ve spotted those two US Army divs moving North and they are now heading towards Alice Springs? [X(] I don´t understand this move but hey, suits me well. The 2nd USMC division will make it easily to Wyndham and will bolster the defenses there, absolutely bad news. I guess it still has something like 250 assault points, and the Marine divs have a lot of firepower. My Army is moving, doesn´t look like Miller will bring in reinforcements and The 60 Allied units left in Northern Australia are mostly base forces for sure, the question will be how many inf and tank units he will have left to defend Wyndham. Well, we will see, at the moment there are 37!! units at Wyndham with 3 more coming in from the West. 40 units sounds a lot to me, we will see what that means in assault points, ordered a first bombardment for next turn. We have spotted 4 Allied units moving towards Alice Springs now (some 65.000 troops), so this could mean 4 div/bgd. Don´t know why they are moving South, but I´m happy about that. Remembering Miller saying how hard it is drawing supplies to Northern Australia and I hope that this is my biggest advantage at the moment. Wyndham is cut off from the East and I hope there aren´t even 20.000 supplies. We are somewhat in a hurry and we can´t afford a siege for months. We have to take this base within something like four weeks at the latest. With 40 units and level 40 forts this could be a hard task...

What will follow might be a stupid idea, but anyway... If Miller is reinforcing Wyndham, why don't you send your reserve troops to Broome or Derby, to really cut them off ? If you pick Derby, and if I've correctly understood the movement rules, you would prevent Wyndham's LCU's from exiting that base to flush your second invasion back into the sea.[&:]

I didn´t understand why he didn´t do that when I invaded Darwin but he can´t make that error three times (first in India, then at Darwin). It´s just too much of a risk and not really worth it as the plan is: tank units will surround Derby and so it´s cut off anyway. The only thing to counter this would be moving troops (inf or tank) out of Wyndham and then it will still be hard to make a stand against tanks with an assault value of 1300+. As soon as I will have Derby cut off, the tanks will join the assault on the town. I will also bring in my cruisers again to start bombardment runs but that will be dangerous. Miller also has PTs now again at his bases, I first have to deal with them. When I get the first nuke on Wyndham, then all follow on bombardments would be less dangerous.

Why did you evacutate Attu and Kiska though? Considering the beating he has taken all over the map the shortest route through the Kuriles will look very attractive to him.

Jima have troops, CD guns and level 9 forts. Enough supplies AND it´s mountaineous terrain. I´ve built up my airfields in Northern Japan and while it´s not my number one priority, I could move a thousand aircraft into the region in no time. [X(] Imagine how the look of my face changed when the ground combat popped up and I saw a screen full of combat ready inf divisions! There are 6 divisions and 2 brigade sized units and more than two dozen support units. The 7 units that were left retreating from Darwin are not much more than ghosts, but all in all this is a shock for me. The first thing I was thinking about was that this whole adventure will turn out to be a big defeat for me. Thinking about the whole situation and writing this 2 hours after doing the turn, we are now somewhat more optimistic and can only count on one thing at the moment: S U P P L Y ! Those 167.000 Allied troops will need a lot of supply and I know that Northern Australia isn´t swimming in it, while I have access to fully stocked supply depots at Darwin. Now as I have spotted a lot of TFs at Derby suddenly, I guess my opponent is bringing in supplies but my tank units will cut Wyndham off within the next three days. Then they will have to block any attempt of opening the supply line again. I don´t know how much supply every of my deliberate attacks will cost the Allied troops but hopefully more than 7-8000. I think they would run out of supplies after the third attack. But hey, I´m not fighting Chinese units, those are Western Allied inf divisions and they are sitting behind level 9 forts, so when I attack I guess I will suffer 15-20.000 casualties for each attack. I don´t even have a 2:1 advantage and I´m not sure I can move in my tanks as this would give Miller the opportunity to open the supply line again. Perhaps I should block the railroad to the West with two inf divs and move the tanks into the town as soon as it is cut off. Gentlemen, it looks very grim at the moment. Very grim! [:(] On the other side, imagine if we will be able to take the town and destroy all those Allied forces trapped here. This is a whole army and another one is sitting on Timor. I´m dreaming at the moment, but destroying this army here and the other one on Timor would mean that we would destroy 12 inf divs, several bgds and dozens of support troops. I have to decide within the next couple of turns what to do, but as it stands now all I can say is that I am committed now and we will have to fight it out. This is no critics about Miller but honestly, while it seems that I´m on the offensive big style, it would now be his time to knock me out. I´ve tried PGs and MSWs in the past in other games, with awful results. And using Zeroes or any other aircraft is no option as there are Allied fighters flying Cap over the base. Not just a dozen Warhawks but a hundred fighters, including Lightnings and Corsairs. Not worth my pilot losses, better to lose another three DDs. I can only hope he can´t just do the "click - PT pop up"...

It´s only purpose IMO is to serve as a transfer base for aircraft coming from the South, going to the North. Wow, that's a lot of people up there. Six divs at Wyndham, six more at Lautern. How many at Alice Springs, Derby, Broome ? How many are kept at Perth, at Brisbane, at Sydney ? What do you think he would do if you sent your tanks down the road towards Southern Australia, would it not panick him ?[;)][:D]
