Lucky1 -> Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (10/30/2008 10:23:09 PM)

Ok. It has been a while since I have attempted an AAR, so forgive me if my posts are somewhat visually bland (I am still working out how to use paint with screen shots etc).

Good luck to all participants. Lets have some fun!

-------------------

Germany's opener is typical, although she experienced no losses. Her wolf pack surprises and destroys a Canadian transport in the Mid Atlantic. Denmark is violated and, of course, Poland is invaded.

Japan, Summer '39: Japan takes the usual strip of land without losses. The rest is confidential. [:)]

Turn sent to MarshallArt.

Russia and China - Summer 1939:

Stalin watches the Wehrmacht's Blitzkrieg and orders his Generals to study this new kind of warfare. Meanwhile the Chinese flee inland to defend their key cities. The world is no peaceful place anymore...

turn sent to Sandeman.

GKar -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (11/18/2008 6:27:22 AM)

Any news from Sandeman?

Marshall Art -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (12/6/2008 5:10:33 PM)

It must be assumed that Sandeman is MIA so the WA will be commanded by xianing. Turn is with Ning.

xianing -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (12/6/2008 8:06:27 PM)

WA finally got their first turn. Eastern France was fortified. French fighter and TB made a suicide attack into Germany and the loss was acceptable this time.
The turn was redone under 1.02 and sent to Lucky1.

Lucky1 -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (12/7/2008 9:27:48 AM)

I think the turn was done in 1.03.... Needs to be redone in 1.02. Or, I have no problem playing 1.03 (but the political events etc. are not compatible).

Marshall Art -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (12/7/2008 7:07:51 PM)

Oops, my mistake - I forgot to mention this little detail to you, Ning. You will have to replay the other turn as well I assume.

xianing -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (12/9/2008 12:57:45 PM)

Thanks for the help of Lucky1, now I have recovered to 1.02. And Allies launched the 3rd attack ! Finally similar loss for both side, it was reported as a victory by French journalists, as their planes were older and cheaper.
Turn sent to Lucky1.

Lucky1 -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/Sandeman (12/9/2008 10:42:34 PM)

Goering sacks Messerschmidt (sp?) R&D chief, responsible for the flawed design responsible for the lacklustre showing over the Rhine. Upgrades are promptly made. The Wehrmacht consolidates in a defensive line against the massed French aggressors in the West. A wolfpack heads to Southern Atlantic (torn between the desire to visit Rio or Pretoria....).

Fall 1939, A very peaceful time in Europe. But it won't last longer, as Britains will go home for Christmas soon.

The peace-loving Reich has been forced to violate the neutrality of the low countries to forestall planned French/British aggression. German news reels show evidence that local populations support Germany in her war against British and French imperialism.

Winter 1940 - again Russia operates secretly against its potential foes while China sits and awaits the next Japanese attacks...

xianing -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/xianing (12/15/2008 12:44:46 PM)

WA - Winter 1940, a detailed loss information is showed here.
Our brave pilots successfully damaged a German heavy Bomber with limited loss (after one German fighter shot down by AAs).
French decided not to waste ammos in counter-attack and saved supplies were sent to Chinese partner.

Lucky1 -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/xianing (12/17/2008 11:46:00 AM)

Hitler is furious -- how can two AA units can brave the might of the Wehrmacht to damage a fighter squadron outside Brussels? He suggests that certain officers resign in disgrace. (Kudos to Ning for demonstrating this little gem in AAR; a canny move - the AA get to fire first, before arty or air). Germany has the last laugh, though. France falls with one damaged armour.

Il Duce, emboldened by the obvious operational superiority of German military doctrine, decides that Italy cannot stand for the British blocade of her Mediterranean colonies. Hitler immediately transfers aerial units to Naples to assist in clearing the way. A lone German wolfpack enters the med in search of easier pickings (England has implemented convoys - i.e., all transports in range are doubled-up). None are found.

Sorry for the delay, but I think MarshallArt is away until Dec 30 anyway.

Japan, Spring '40: Japanese bombers hit some rail and a factory. The other forces continue to twiddle their thumbs.

Marshall Art -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/xianing (12/30/2008 5:31:25 PM)

Spring 1940 - Stalin orders all factories to increase military production while Europe is painted in grey. China sits and waits. Nothing to report except maybe 5 Japanese HBs pointing towards a major air offensive against China. through lend-lease AA guns were delivered to Chunking.

xianing -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/xianing (12/30/2008 8:16:15 PM)

WA - Spring 1940

As Italy declared war to us in a wrong time, WA attacked Ethiopia and blocked Med. Desperate Italian retreated to Lybia and seems they were out of supply---probablely Hitler don't want to pay much for North Africa.
With successful anti-sub warfare a veteran German submarine was sunk near Spain.

Lucky1 -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/xianing (1/1/2009 6:04:22 AM)

The Royal Navy is remarkably resilient to (preliminary) air strikes. Soon the German pilots will be casting more than shadows over the British fleet....

Yugoslavia is cowed into submission; Hungary, Rumania and Bulgaria all see the wisdom of joining the Axis cause.

Summer 1940 - Russian Secret Service reports good results while military production has been increased after the sudden lack of worthy opponents left for Germany in Europe... China awaits the next air raid - Can't the league of nations simply declare air raids illegal?

Lucky1 -> RE: Round 3 2vs2: Lucky1/GKar vs MarshallArt/xianing (1/11/2009 8:52:25 PM)

Rumania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Greece all see the wisdom (Greece needed prodding) of joining the awesome Third Reich. Germany engages in some troop redeploment and development of infrastructure.

Mussolini, still smarting from the loss of his vacation home in Tripoli, is promised a tranche of Greece along Albania. He is further mollified when Hitler explains that after the war, the North African territories will be ceded in the surrender agreement. As such, Italy will have saved a few years in their administration.... That said, the Duce is concerned by the large allied concentrations in the Med and in Malta...

[image]local://upfiles/22748/D94E2AD921274F93916043F80715FA19.jpg[/image]

EDUCATIONAL NOTE: Ning has a transport in Malta that he is able to used to transport troops to the island. Because Malta is an island port, Ning can use the transport to move troops in or out of Malta AND retreat the transport back into port on the same turn, where it is sheltered by the two AA. A nifty trick that is explained in the manual somewhere....

Fall 1940 - again soviet agent have excelled while Germany seems not to like to share tech peacefully, moving troops near the border. We do have a non-agression pact, don't we? [8D]
China celebrates the downing of two bombers - sadly the AA crews were not promoted...

WA - 40'F
Not too much to report. TLC rails were bombed to give Germany some difficulty when drawing back their tanks.
We will have peace with Germany until our super weapon is ready. But if our enemy is doing the same thing...[8D]
