the campaign information shows that some raids must have hit the enemy cities well [8D]

wernerpruckner -> RE: joint AAR Nachtjagd 1 - VonShagmeister vs swift (11/9/2008 10:58:12 AM)

the after action reports show that the German NFs were unable to concentrate above the targets ( except maybe Emden) and that some NIs scored a kill

wernerpruckner -> RE: joint AAR Nachtjagd 1 - VonShagmeister vs swift (11/9/2008 10:59:20 AM)

and here is the main target of the last night: Brunswick.

You can see that there was done some damge

this turn only limited raids.
But they were surprisingly effective.
Targets were a suburb of Hamburg, the Hamburg Port and a few smaller targets around Hamburg.

The score really looks nice now [8D]

Denniss -> RE: joint AAR Nachtjagd 1 - VonShagmeister vs swift (11/9/2008 10:59:18 PM)

Is there any specific reason to still use Brunswick instead of Braunschweig? All other targets seem to use a proper german or french name.

Is there a problem calculating the combat, real and extended ranges ? The Halifax II screen shows 1106 combat, 1300 real and 1214 extended ?!? The Stirling III screen looks better with 1070, 1253 and 1476 although both Stirlings seem way overranged (especially with full bombload).

Again they come in strength and a maximum response is ordered, hopefully conditions will allow for more interceptions. Two large streams approache but controllers have difficulty identifying the target. Despite many nightfighters inserting themselves into both streams and following the bombers to their targets the results are poor. 47 bombers are destroyed, 15 of them claimed by flak. Our only consolation is because of thick cloud over Lincolnshire and Yorkshire many bombers crash whilst trying to land.

Allied nightfighters make a number of interceptions against our fighters that have got into the stream. Not only do they jam our radar but now we are also the hunted. Again our cities burn.

I would have to say, most names come from the doc's, I have never
seen it by that name in any of the Allied doc's

you have to remember that those stats are for me, and that part of them have nothing to do with bombers

I get 2330 max range, I do see some places with a range of 590 with full load, 2010 with 3500 pounds, so I am reading that 590 as radius

wernerpruckner -> RE: joint AAR Nachtjagd 1 - VonShagmeister vs swift (11/10/2008 5:24:52 PM)

once again the plan was to hit a main target and several smaller ones around it.
This time the big target was Frankfurt am main (500 A/C), with the targetsfor the smaller raids: Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Mainz, Ludwigshafen, Worms and Bad Kreuznach.

The plan was to hit Frankfurt am main from the Northeast and the Southwest at the same time.
The two Halifax streams went the long way around the Ruhr, moving towards Kassel and making additional corners to confuse the Axis. This raid was escorted by several NI streams and one of the Wellie RCM squadrons.

The Lancaster raids ( and all raids to the other targets) crossed the Channel at the French/Belgium border and went south east more or less a short direct way to Frankfurt ( or other important Axis targets)

The outbound way of all these raids were more or less the same - along the French German border, and later over the Netherlands and Belgium.

The Mossie raid including the Mossie RCMs went over the Ruhr along the Rhine southwards and marked the target.

once again the losses were not too bad ( several A/C crashed in the UK due to bad weather and damaged A/C)

We also saw a first in this game - NIs attacking enemy NFs while flying in stream ( and not above airfields )

and here the losses page.

The next turn will see no action - 80+ clouds over most of the map.

You'd better make a decision to either use localized names for all cities/targets (without special characters) or english names for all locations. Such an intermix does not look good.

Hard Sarge -> RE: joint AAR Nachtjagd 1 - VonShagmeister vs swift (11/11/2008 1:10:07 PM)

trouble is, I got a mix and match as it is, the ones I am working with, I am getting from wartime docs, alot of the other targets/sites are from what the other people already had in

wernerpruckner -> RE: joint AAR Nachtjagd 1 - VonShagmeister vs swift (11/11/2008 6:25:11 PM)

Turn 13 will see a huge effort to destroy remaining important targets at Hamburg.
This could be a dangerous plan......but we will try to attack only targets in and around Hamburg with my streams ( OILS, PORTS and area bombing )

Here is a close up at the target with most of the flypaths above Hamburg.

The aim is to destroy valuable industry (OILS) and destroy the remaining undamaged area.

von Shagmeister -> RE: joint AAR Nachtjagd 1 - VonShagmeister vs swift (11/11/2008 7:14:04 PM)

03Sep43

Multiple Allied streams are detected heading in over Holland and the North Sea. After the recent poor showing by our nightfighters Stab XII.Fl.Kps. is determined to bring down more bombers. This night more nightfighter sorties are flown than on any previous night (214 total).

The streams meander over northern Germany and in across the sea but it looks like they are going to converge on Hamburg. Even though the target area is identified relatively quickly and fighters are already in the streams the weather looks like it is going to hamper our efforts. Small gaps in the cloud appear over Hamburg and some of the more experienced pilots are able to engage but on the whole the results are disappointing. 57 bombers are bought down (16 by flak), this is just not good enough. Hamburg burns again.

FuG 202 is practically useless now. FuG 212 gave some of contacts (22 total) but only 3 of these were converted to engagements (visual) because of the thick cloud.

We hear that Kammhuber is to see "Fatty" to answer for his failure to destroy the British, rumour has it he is to be stripped of his command and sent to the Arctic. It appears he is to be made a scapegoat for failures of those above him. The usual story.
