GIJim -> Version 1.10.12 (12/15/2008 8:51:35 PM)

Please hurry on that new patch. Nobody wants to start a new game until it is out!

GIJim

Gil R. -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (12/15/2008 9:19:38 PM)

We hear you. It has to be tested thoroughly first, and as I've noted before, our testing team isn't as large as it was in the past, which means testing necessarily takes longer.

marcbarker -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (12/15/2008 11:17:04 PM)

Gil you are doing a fine job...takes as long as required....I know it will be a great enhancement

goodwoodrw -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/8/2009 5:32:37 AM)

Is this patch far away, and will it be compatible with an existing game?

Gil R. -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/8/2009 5:46:40 AM)

It's not that far away, and it will break save files.

goodwoodrw -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/8/2009 7:04:25 AM)

thanks, I will wait to start a new game to after its released. Thanks for late the night or early morning reply[:D]
Ron

WallysWorld -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/8/2009 7:20:51 PM)

I too am holding off starting a new game until the patch is released. Patience is a virtue!

Thanks for your hard work, Eric and Gil.

Kielec -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/14/2009 12:15:07 AM)

Gil?
Any news on the possible patch release date?
Sorry for pushing a personnal agenda with the question... but I may be going ot a no-internet zone for a few months this weekend, and was thinking whether it was still reasonable for me to hold it with starting another campaign for the remaining three days...

Gil R. -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/14/2009 4:11:20 AM)

We're supposed to get a new build to test tomorrow, which makes it unlikely, since we wouldn't want to rush testing.

If you're really eager for the patch and it's not out by this weekend perhaps someone could download it and burn it to a CD for you? I assume that where you'll be mail can reach you.

Kielec -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/16/2009 12:13:25 AM)

Thanks for the sad truth, Gil.
And for good thinking.
Unfortunately (as in: your assumption was wrong...), the few places on the planet with really limited internet (that I know and, unfortunately, frequent) tend to have problems with snail-mail as well. I will, of course, have somebody check for the new patch from time to time, and have it sent to me on a CD... but for now, it's the Rebel Yell again - - I should be done with the Yanks before your new patch gets to me...

PS. As a general comment, thanks for replying so fast. I have noticed (also) on some other threads that you guys are doing a grand job communicating with your community... (Hmmmm...[8|]) More than commendable. Keep it up! And have your competitors burn with jealousy, or rot in hell!! Yeah!!!!

Gil R. -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/16/2009 12:33:19 AM)

Thanks. I appreciate the comments.

The downside of communicating regularly is that sometimes I give overly optimistic predictions of when a patch (or product!) will be ready. I had thought this patch would be done by early January, but unforeseen factors have delayed it. It's close, though!

animaluk -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/26/2009 4:29:19 PM)

Where is it then[&:]

WallysWorld -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/28/2009 5:58:22 PM)

Gil, I too must ask the question as to whether the release date for this most anticipated patch is very soon? Many of us are holding off starting another game until the patch is installed.

And the waiting is killing me...[&o]

Gil R. -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/28/2009 7:50:53 PM)

Yes, very, very close. It looked like this current build would be it, but a few minor, easily fixed glitches were found. The HW AI changes appear to be working as desired, and no one has seen any loopy AI behavior introduced by those changes. I can't give you a release date, but it shouldn't be too much longer.

We definitely appreciate your patience.

moose1999 -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/28/2009 11:41:52 PM)

Please keep the patch back for another 8-10 days...
I have an important assignment I have to finish and I really can't risk having my attention diverted by a yummy patch for my favorite game.
So, I would appreciate it if you postponed the release for at least another week.

Thank you for your understanding.

Mad Russian -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/29/2009 2:14:49 AM)

You've waited this long what's a few more months.

My opponent and I quit our PBEM back in September due to bugs. We're still waiting for the patch that was "coming soon".

In the mean time we play other games.

Good Hunting.

MR

animaluk -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/29/2009 2:34:42 AM)

good job it was:nt a long time away[&:]

Xerkis -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (1/29/2009 12:21:33 PM)

I must agree with briny norman - I too have something coming up that will take most of my time and focus. Having this patch now will kill me.
Play.... Work? Play.... Work?
What to do - what to do?
[:D]

goodwoodrw -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/9/2009 11:20:07 AM)

Ok, Briny and Xerkis, have put the release back long enough, don't worry about their needs post the patch[:D]

Gil R. -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/9/2009 5:17:49 PM)

You guys deserve another update. Unfortunately, the news isn't what you were hoping for, or what I had been hoping to tell you. As I previously mentioned, just when the patch looked like it might be ready for release, a rather serious new HW bug was discovered. (I've posted a screenshot taken by the tester -- let's see if you can find it.) We can't release the patch until this is fixed, but the need to meet Matrix's release schedule for "Crown of Glory: Emperor's Edition" has prevented Eric (= programmer) from debugging it. Our hope is that he will have time to debug this week -- and that it's the type of bug that doesn't take hours and hours to find! -- and that we can then test to make sure it's fixed. If so, release late next week is not impossible, but far from certain. I'll keep you posted...

Graycompany -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/10/2009 4:34:31 AM)

Is that a Bug, or does the Attacker have a really nice advantage?

moose1999 -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/10/2009 8:53:25 AM)

Looks like Robot Abraham Lincoln showed up at the battlefield...! [:D]

(cookie for the first one who catches that reference... - and no Googling!)

apbarog -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/20/2009 4:32:02 AM)

Any updates to the update?

Gil R. -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/20/2009 6:05:54 PM)

Little forward momentum, sadly. This weekend all the path-critical work on "Crown of Glory: Emperor's Edition" will be done -- i.e., the stuff that has to be given to Matrix ASAP in order to meet their release schedule -- and with that out of the way the FOF patch will become Priority#1.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/20/2009 6:10:51 PM)

Ooops, got to love the French flags waving in the wind :P

got to say though, that was a fun battle

Nope [:)]
But we ARE in the entertainment business and there IS a mad scientist involved.
And it's not a Coldplay song...

Randomizer -> RE: Version 1.10.12 (2/20/2009 11:23:59 PM)

From The Simpson's?  Wasn't Robot Abe Lincoln a rapping part of the President's exhibit at Springfield's Duff Gardens?
