If you have inferior accuracy, and/or inferior penetration, it is good to let them get in close and ambush them. Against a human in PBEM or hotseat, this is the range that you troops WILL fire at, because you are not given the yes/no option (for obvious reasons). In an online game, your opponent can at least tell that you were asked for op fire, and may deduce your position from it, even if you said 'no'. Again, this makes you want to insure the kill. rbrunsman has it dead on vs the comp. You will get soooo sick of hitting no, that you will lower the ranges. Or you will run out of ammo (especially APCR rounds!). Goblin
