Hi everyone, I was just about to put out the first part of my campaign for people to test before I carry on with the rest of it. The campaign was originally in slot 5, so to be a nice guy I changed the camp number to 10 so its far enough down on the list as to not cause problems. So I changed all the files that had a 5 in them, the test,"c" and "u005.dat" files. I did this for both the .cmt and .dat files. I thought I had thought of everything. Well, I zipped them up and than unzipped them back into the campaign folder and tested it to see if it worked. Well, it did and it didnt. The campain was in slot 10, I started it...no intro text...I than got sent to the purchase screen...no weapons to buy. It will be a pretty glum war with no weapons, wouldnt you say. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. I would really like to get this out. Oh and btw, I didnt back up the slot 5 data so if I cant get this fixed, all my work is lost (why is there no face for crying?) Surfer

Hi silent surfer, I guess we think alike. I also am using slot #10 for a small campaign. I wish you good luck with yours. Seems I don't have the time when I want it to finish. Almost done though.

Hello men, um, boy is my face . After leaving the ol' puter for a while to get chineese food, I came back and the answer hit like a led fart (chineese food'll do it every time). When I changed the slot from a 5 to a 10, I simply deleted five and typed 10. Sounds right, right? Wrong. By typing 10 it made the files 0010.cmt/dat. See anything wrong with this? The slots only go up to 999. Duho!!!! So I simply deleted one of the zeros and voila, I'm in business. So let this learn ya's, if anyone is going to change an early number scenario to a later one, delete one of the zero's but I'm sure you're all much smarter than I and would have figured that out first. Hey RUsco, whats your scenario about? You going to post it? Let me know, eh? (there's that Canadian stereotype again) [This message has been edited by silentsurfer (edited October 15, 2000).]

A small campaign on the invation of the Island of Tulagi off the coast of Guacalcanal. It's designed for 1 USMC Raider Co and 1 Plt USMC Assault Engioneers. I hope to be done next weekend. It will be posted at tankheads website.

Here is a repeat of a post I made a few days ago about how to update your campaign to new numbers to avoid overwriting other scenarios or having yours overwritten. This may help: ============= As more of you design or download new campaigns the day will come when there may be a conflict of slot numbers, just as there is with scenarios. By that I mean you may design a campaign, saving it, say, in slot 7. Lamentably someone else out there might be doing the same thing. So how do you fix that? First, when you download a new campaign to install in the game, look in the zip file and check the numbers. Remember that there are 1000 slots open for campaigns in SPWAW. The files for slot 7 would be c007*00.* That Number 7 tells you it is going to install itself in slot 7. Next, look in your campaign subdirectory. If you see files with that same numbering, c007*00.* then you know you are in danger of overwriting a campaign you already have in your game. So what is an easy fix. Its very simple. 1. Unzip all the newest campaign files into a temp directory: C:\Temp So what is an easy fix? Its very simple. 1. Unzip all the newest campaign files into a temp directory: C:\Temp 2. Open a Dos Window 3. Type CD\ at the prompt 4. Type cd\temp (no spaces) 5. Type: ren c007*.* c008*.* It will rename all the campaign files from 7 to 8. 6. Close your dos window by typing "exit." 7. Now all the campaign files should have the proper numbering. It has not happened yet, but that day will probably come.
