I was away too ... so hope, Mad will start it ASAP ...

Kingmaker -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 11:56:59 AM)

HiHi

Matto, hope you had a good time away; as a Beta tester you may know this, if a Multi-player game is started and say there are only 5 players, can the AI slots be taken up by at a later date?

Or even, if a starting player drops out could his Nation be then assigned to a reserve player (would need the orriginal players password to be supplied, this would have to be made a criteria of all orriginal players ie if they need to drop out they must pass on their password)

Sorry to lumber you with this but you are likely to be become the 'In-house' expert. [:)]

All the Best
Peter

Matto -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 3:24:01 PM)

So, WAR is started ... now I will wait for files from you all (martin dot smola at gmail dot com). Than I will merge it, play my part and send to all again ...
Study PBEM caption in manual, how to set Policy, Password etc.

Good luck Sirs !

Answers to Kingmakers questions:
- is unable change from Human to AI ... I think, is possible change from AI to Human, but never tested it. I can ask developers ...
- password is possible reset, if necessary ...

lenin -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 6:40:44 PM)

Glad we've all started. Unfortunately I have to go out straight after work and won't be back until late, so might not be able to submit my turn until tomorrow night. Sorry if I'm holding you all up.

Mus -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 7:20:19 PM)

In regards to PBEM policies, do you have to set them before you load the PBEM files or set them on your first turn before hitting end turn?

Franck -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 8:24:33 PM)

I believe before hitting EoT...

My turn as been sent :)

Confirmed ... France and Austria are done !

lenin -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 9:38:51 PM)

Got in a bit earlier than I thought. Hope to get the turn done tonight.

One question. In relation to setting a policy, does the x mark indicate that the policy or trade is on or off? I'm assuming it means off.

Mus -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 10:17:48 PM)

Believe its just the opposite.  Checking the alliance box means you would accept an alliance offer.  Checking the import whatever resource box means you would accept that trade, etc.

lenin -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 10:38:02 PM)

British turn in.

timurlain -> RE: PBEM (3/9/2009 10:53:12 PM)

Prussian turn in.

Kingmaker -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 2:39:06 AM)

HiHi

Russian orders sent in.

Matto, what I was toying with in regard to the player replacement stuff was maybe a list could be set up for folk who want to play in a multi-game and would be willing to take over a Nation if someone dropped out, rather than hang around waiting for a new game quota to fill up.

I used to play 'Medieval Diplomacy' some years ago and they had something set up to cover for that.

Just a thought.

All the Best
Peter

Mus -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 5:35:21 AM)

Hey,

Could we put a list of the countries in order of turn so theres no question who people send their file to next?

I got an email saying the Prussian player sent their files to Spain... isnt it supposed to be Austria?

Anyways, if anyone knows the order please post a list.

lenin -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 7:33:30 AM)

Everybody should send their files to Spain. The Spanish player then combines them and emails everyone else out the new turn.

timurlain -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 8:25:13 AM)

Glad that I got it right

Matto -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 8:52:17 AM)

So we need Sweden and Ottomans turn ...

Mus -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 11:47:08 AM)

Sorry for the delay guys, when I read the PBEM description for some reason I thought each player did their turn in sequence, otherwise I would have completed it earlier in the day.

So my turn is in now. This will be interesting.

Matto -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 11:50:54 AM)

So last one ... Sweden

Mus -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 6:57:19 PM)

Sweden has been MIA for a couple days... I hope he hurrys.

Franck -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 7:01:36 PM)

Can't turn him into an AI now :(

Hey France who are you kicking around this early?
:P

lenin -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 7:11:53 PM)

Probably me!
[X(][X(][X(][X(]

timurlain -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 8:47:04 PM)

Come on Sweden :)

lenin -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 8:51:11 PM)

Hehe, 83 posts and we haven't finnished the first turn yet!

Kingmaker -> RE: PBEM (3/10/2009 11:52:58 PM)

HiHi

While we wait, anyone any idea how the in game 'Chat' thing works, ie can it be made single Nation specific or does everyone get to looksee.

+  what are folks veiws re emailing diplomatic stuff to Nations you want to explain more than the games treaty deffinitions alow; I'm in favour, but not sure if it's considered bad form or something.  It would certainly add an extra dimention to the game, make it more like an expanded 'Medieval diplomacy', anyone here played that?

Thoughts?

All the Best
Peter

Matto -> RE: PBEM (3/11/2009 12:00:29 AM)

If you want, I can play tommorow Sweden part ...

Chat is just for online game ... in PBEM doesn't work

Mus -> RE: PBEM (3/11/2009 1:30:34 AM)

Did anyone email or pm sweden?

Kingmaker -> RE: PBEM (3/11/2009 1:33:49 AM)

HiHi

I haven't (Russia), might be an idea if someone did though in case he didn't get the email from france.

All the Best
Peter

Franck -> RE: PBEM (3/11/2009 2:33:51 AM)

I wouldn't mind if you want to do is turn until he can tell us what is happening.

Kingmaker I'm all for emailing before deals... Not so much because I think there's not much you can do within the current system. But more because I think some stuff can get stupid (ie even if you set some stuff too export, maybe you'll get SO MANY trade offer in one turn that you'll drop to like +3 of something you wanted to get to +10 instead a turn...) I think the best way to resolve that issue would be to try and get the programmers to modify how PBEM policies work :)

On top of that, I believe it is nice to be able to tell someone who just beated you that if he leaves your territorial intergrity alone you'll happily turn against your old allies to help in out. I think it as the feel of the period alot more not to ask for only land when you beat someone but rather for stuff like enforced alliance and stuff :) Unfortunetely, AI aren't a lot of help so I don't do it in solo play :)

Franck -> RE: PBEM (3/11/2009 2:37:45 AM)

On top of that I offered some treati on the first turn, Having asked to people first might have made sure we didn't all ask for the same treati... It can get confusing to know wich one to sign when you have 5 indentical treaties offered by you and the four others![&:][8|]

Mus -> RE: PBEM (3/11/2009 2:45:56 AM)

Give him a few hours to respond to the email and then if not make a very conservative turn for him.  Just set his labor in an intelligent way and put his policies so that he basically sits there.

Thats my vote.
