Major Ed -> Hidden Victory Hexes (10/18/2000 7:58:00 AM)

I know it was explained somewhere (can't the thread) about the new types of victory hexes. I found some in the second battle of Bill's Utah to the Rhine Campaign (sneaky Bill, sneaky). My question is - what's the point?
In most tactical operations I've participated in, we had very well defined objectives, and for the scope of the game aren't we talking about small unit tactics?
So I guess I'm missing the significance of victory hexes that only appear when you get close to them. Are we supposed to move around the whole board with recon units amking sure we find all these hexes?
I did pretty good on the Caretan Battle, but I would like to understand your twisted logic Bill, maybe get some insight on what is coming next for now it's on to Berigny.
