Nik - that may have been the best pictorial I've seen here. Great stuff, and I would add the pics themselves were all exposed really well. Thanks a lot for posting. I now have to convice my wife to let me take a trip up there to see them for myself.

Thx....GF has a realllllly expensive camera, we love it. And thx for the compliment.....GF was giving me you know what initially for me taking some the pics i was (angle, closeup etc)....she, being the graphic web designer in training felt i should be doing all portrait shots. After we downloaded them though she had to admit that many of them she liked though she still ribbed me about taking so many photos of this or that for detail. An explanation that modlers in particular like these kinds of shots only got me the classic female eye roll. [:D]

One small victory though. She finds the "history" behind the planes interesting and wants to see her favorite Big Blue fly. (the F6F)

You definatly did good with the Camera, I spent a lot of time droling over these picks, that colection is prety fantastic, so many Museums and colections around the country I have sean (except the USAF Museum, and the Garber facality) are very Heavy in American planes, this colection is very well rounded and their specimans are prestine too boot, most with combat historys as well.

Good work, LogBoy...[8D]

Cap Mandrake -> RE: Bf-109E-3 Emil (5/31/2009 8:44:13 PM)

The Spifire engine pics are awesome. So are the wing fold detail pics.

Nikademus -> RE: Bf-109E-3 Emil (5/31/2009 8:48:42 PM)

thx. You know, i wondered about that feature myself as i'd never noticed it in any other 109 photographs. I should have asked one of the mechanics. Taking a closer look at it, i'd guess we're seeing part of the mechanical link to control the tail flaps. It looks like a screw mechanism that might be used to adjust the wire tension.

Thank you so much for the pictures. [&o]

The FHC is celebrating D day tomorrow. They are going to fly the Storch and the Emil. Gonna try to attend and snap some more pictures. Maybe i can hide in the back of the Storch. [:D]

Brady -> RE: Bf-109E-3 Emil (6/6/2009 5:47:16 AM)

It would be fun to hear that DB.[:)]

thegreatwent -> RE: Bf-109E-3 Emil (6/6/2009 6:44:15 AM)

WoW! Loved the photos, I-16 looks so much like the racers of the period with its radial engine and inverse bottle shape. Seeing one fly would be a trip.

Nikademus -> RE: Bf-109E-3 Emil (6/7/2009 9:54:19 PM)

Attended the Dday celebration. Many attended including one distinquished guest. It was a hoot. Here are the photos. Sadly, my arsenal is currently lacking a super telephoto lens....something i may have to rectify for the next airshow when the I-16 flies.

Before the start, i took a few more photos of several of the planes just for giggles.
