I did a bit of research.  Warbird Registry is a good source for preserved aircraft: http://www.warbirdregistry.org/

The Russian annex tracks several Russian aircraft types, but not Sturmoviks. 

This site has a number of pictures of preserved IL-2s: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?aircraft_genericsearch=Ilyushin%20Il-2

As far as I can tell, no IL-2s have made it to the west, even though a fair number of other Russian aircraft types have.

Where is the sound file for the ME 109 ?  Would have loved to hear the sound of her buzzing past.

sorry....no sound files...but i do have a swarm of new pics from today's air shows. The I-16 and P-40C flew today, and down in Renton, the Collins Foundation's B-24J and B-17G bombers are visiting. Will post photos as soon as i can shrink em down.

This was the fly day i'd been waiting for.......i was really looking forward to seeing the Rata....the I-16 in action. As a bonus treat, they were also flying the P-40C, the world's only flyable example. The weather threatened to spoil everyone's fun this weekend on Friday, but fortunately it turned out to be a gorgeous day.

it was interesting to see the pilot doing the occasional "weave" to get a visual check on where he was going. I'd read about this need for taildraggers to do so to get their bearings in war accounts but had never seen one do so in an airshow setting.

i'd heard that this plane is LOUD.....it is. As the photographer next to me put it......it sounds like a souped up Harley in comparison to the quite steady purr of the P-40.
