As I say. I don't think it can be stopped. As the Sultan points out, the Austrians have been very clever with how they reduce their obvious lead so as to not stand out.

Agreed, I could not see how France could do this. Possibly Prussia could DOW the Poles, but that would be a green light to a French invasion of their homelands.

The fact you can take out a minor with such a large landmass by taking its Capital makes this approach very easy. I am a little surprised the very capable Polish Armies didn't seem to take any steps to stop either the Austrians or the Russians.

terje439 -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 2:08:08 AM)

Well I am still waiting for a few people (will not mention names Mus [:D]) to come growling about how Austrian agression is not acceptable etc etc.

Cause that cannot possibly only be aimed at me now can it? [;)]

When a strategic AI capable of running on a modestly priced desktop PC is capable of defeating a human opponent well... have you ever seen Terminator?

[:D]

aprezto -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 2:45:02 AM)

Ha ha - well yeah OK. But they didn't even attack once - just left it to the garrisons. Great nations under the control of the AI move their armies about...

I thought the Poles and Russians had a battle.

aprezto -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 2:58:37 AM)

Really? I must have missed that one. I saw plenty of seige stuff, but missed the land battle. Hope I'm wrong and you're right.

IronWarrior -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 4:04:00 AM)

Back... only need Russian files to complete next turn.

Hope Russia and Preussia really thinks that offer through.
And that Turkey and Sweden do the same, who will Russia tangle with if they accept this offer?
L'Terje

The Ottomans have peaceful agreements with both Russia and Austria. If they look at their history they will be reminded that bitter wars just ended in 1769. There should be a chance to heal [;)].

They do? I must have missed those, or maybe they are secret... or maybe 'were' secret?

Sometimes secret agreements are forgotten too easily.

Matto -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 8:43:20 AM)

Sirs, how I read it, it looks that Austria is an enemy of the World ...

Now, don't go getting all paranoid[;)] You only have one little war with France which could be settled. Besides, you have already implicated most of Europe in your crim..eh explorations.

Doubling the size of a bright orange country in the middle of the map is bad for business in COG EE.

Seems that is the concensus after two games, yes [:D]

Anthropoid -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 2:04:54 PM)

Pretty sure I intalled Gen Mod as I only have two diplos.

One Russian who was both a diplomat and a general is just plugged in as a general. If you had a harem, you would not worry about such trivial things.

BTW, did you get turn 8 from IW?

IronWarrior -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 7:48:57 PM)

Turn 9 sent

lenin -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/29/2009 8:41:01 PM)

Who has stabbed who in the back? Has Austria managed to get the enormous target painted on their back painted off?

I love this game!

I think the target has become somewhat larger, but it is currently overshadowed by some rather large fangs.

Yep, this is a very good game-especially when you have such devious Royals at the controls.

terje439 -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/30/2009 11:43:31 AM)

Well guess Preussia decided they wanted a big target painted on them as well.
Atleast one European nation found its heart!
We applaud The Bear! [&o]

And replied as well btw [;)]

Turn 10 sent!

Mus -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/30/2009 10:16:30 PM)

No file attached on the email I received.

aprezto -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/30/2009 10:17:35 PM)

same here

IronWarrior -> RE: PBEM 109 (6/30/2009 10:22:14 PM)

Resent with files. [;)]

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (7/1/2009 12:03:09 AM)

Otto's in.

Looks like the mighty Austrian Empire is having some morale problems-interesting. It appears to be getting worse rather than better.

Mus -> RE: PBEM 109 (7/1/2009 12:21:31 AM)

Brits in.

aprezto -> further reading (7/1/2009 1:24:19 AM)

Since I am so ignorant of the history of the Napoleonic wars I have been trying to catch up. It seems that only Great Britain was able to stay at war with the French through almost the entire thing (other than a few years during the quieter times).

Following current diplomatic developments it appears our alternate universe is entirely different. Maybe they'll be singing la marseillaise in Picadilly square soon.

I'm in the same boat. I have been reading some interesting stuff-especially about the O.E. This Sultan, Selim 3rd, was an interesting and competent guy. He met a rather untimely end in his own palace prison. Strangled on the orders of some flake, want to be, Sultan. Interesting stuff. I had no idea that the O.E. was so cosmopolitan. Also, I was not aware that the Janissaries had turned into something like the Praetorian Guard-complete with intrigue.

In this game world, this Sultan will whip those Janissaries into top form to equal the days yore in glory.
