Well, I guess I only understood every 4th word, but apart from that: I like you, too! [8D]

Post bike ride Tithe, the AI in AE is more aggressive but is willing to send bombers out without escort. I will take advantage of that[:)]. Nothing like exercise to focus the mind.

Naw....more like the cook farting while lighting the galley.

Only 15 months until Ironman Florida '10.  [;)]

We got a couple fun minis out in Cali. I'm on the coast with guestrooms; c'mon out.

Swim is all I do well; thighs suck, so can't run worth a crap and don't bike worth a darn either, but second quartile of the B class ain't too bad. I gots 'night before so get yo ass to bed' and 4:30 pasta for a 9:00 am start.

Are you really one of those boggie till ya puke people? Damn, I snagged a couple of ya'll to do some cockpit grinding for some races, but boat racing is all upper body - lats, abs, bi's and tri's, with a bit of lower back to hike. Well, they had fun, scored more than nominal in Puerto Vallarta, but ... sigh ... left me, because their lower body was begining to atrophy. Sheesh. But am always looking for a another sucker ... er ... person interested in expanding their sports horizons.

John, I'd love to crew for some races. If only there weren't transcontinental airfare involved. [:D]

I'm excited for our week of sailing classes starting next Sunday evening. [:)] After that week, getting BKB and BCC certifications, I should know almost enough to be dangerous in a sailboat.

I've done around 8-10 triathlons in the past, but not yet a full Ironman distance. I've completed 2 half ironman distances, and several shorter, sprint races. It's great for me, because of the variety. With 3 different disciplines to train for, boredom doesn't set in so fast. My limitation right now is time, although my son is getting old enough that I can sneak out for runs or bike rides while he stays home.

My reference to IMFla '10 was teasing Historiker. He's planning to do that one. [:)]

I suspect he was, just after a few "boat drinks." I understood him fine. [sm=party-smiley-012.gif]

You must have had theboat drinks too[:D]

Actually, I met a pro when cycling and he convinced me to do it. But you may well show up there, too, we can start as a team [;)]

I'm a little bit afraid that AE might well be too much for me. I was at turn two of scen 1 clicking around about three hours and ending it with saving, not by ending the turn.

On the other hand, I never liked to play the AI in witp. I never passed APril 1942, I guess I just need a human opponent. But without training, that might be rather stressing...

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/1/2009 8:48:18 PM)

Dude, 3 hours is nothing for a first turn, even as the Allies!

My first WitP campaign vs. AI took about 10 hours to set my Allied first turn.
My first WitP PBEM campaing took about 20 hours for the Allied first turn.
My current PBEM with Mynok, CHS as the Allies took me about 12 hours for the first turn.

I've done nothing with the AE campaign yet except let the historical first turn run and look around at the aftermath on the morning of December 8th.  [:)]

Historiker -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/1/2009 8:51:26 PM)

That's as far as I am. I know that this is nothing, but neither do I have a clue nore does it attract me do something without a human on the other side AND without knowing what I'm actually doing...

Historiker -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/1/2009 8:52:24 PM)

And don't call me Dude! You may call me "El Duderino" though... [;)]

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/1/2009 9:00:48 PM)

When I first bought UV, I started trying to pick it up and felt overwhelmed.  I put it aside and didn't get WitP until about 2 years after it was released, thinking more would be too much.  Once I started playing WitP, I regretted ever letting myself drop UV and missing out on WitP for those years.  I'll never let that happen again with AE!  [:)]  I do feel like there's too much to digest with AE at the moment, but I'm not worried about getting a game started ASAP.  I'm letting it sink in a little at a time, and I'll have a game vs. the AI going before too long.

I do agree with you that the huge increase in the game experience with a live opponent does provide more motivation to learn AE faster.  I'll be at that point soon, at least for the Guad scenario.  Find an opponent who doesn't care that you both will make lots of mistakes, agree to learn from them and keep going, and you will both be cranking along in no time.  [8D]

Historiker -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/1/2009 9:06:19 PM)

Well, I guess I'll have to bite through...

But witp was already at the border of my interest in micro management. Often enough I was bored playing either side (while playing ALlied it doesn't matter that much, CS Convois can do most of the work) and hit the "end turn" button without doing what was necessary.

My favorite opponent was surprised by my strategic and tactical ideas -as he hasn't seen most of them in game. I know what to do, but usually I'm too lazy to do it... [8|]

I would, but my PI fighter groups have been almost gutted. And I'm not willing to waste good aircraft in a restricted command that's going to fall soon. At least the P-40s managed to hold their own against the Zeros for a while.
I have a feeling the AI is going to actually make a move for PM soon, it's bombing moved bombers into Rabaul and is slowly knocking pieces out of my base whilst I have no fighters to defend it.

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/1/2009 9:40:01 PM)

CHS turn is finished, now, on to Guadalcanal in AE.  [:)]

OK, now I'm really going to start on the GC scenario.  I'm the worlds worst when it comes to putzing around on the computer.  [:D]

stuman -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/1/2009 11:09:50 PM)

I have dived into the GC head first. I have a feeling the Empire is is not goinng to fare well with me at the helm.

Evening Mike.

Tithe...

treespider -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/2/2009 2:32:06 AM)

I may have bred myself an opponent.

My 14 year old son asked if he could try out the game. He is currently in the garage on my old box putting himself through the paces with the Coral Sea scenario...

This could be really good.

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/2/2009 2:33:18 AM)

Wow! Good for you!
