Hi, all.

When I start to run WitPAE I get to the loading screen with the red bar, but instead of following up with the game menu I'm faced with a black screen. Waiting for 5, 10, 15 minutes doesn't help.

My configuration:
Vista x64 Ultimate
Quad Core 2.83 GHz.
8 GB RAM
nVidia GTX285 w/ 1GB

I have tried:
- running in full screen or windowed mode
- with "-dual" command line parameter and without
- running in XP SP2 compatibility mode and without
- uninstalling/reinstalling

All to no avail.

I attach my DxDiag.txt for reference. Any help would be appreciated. :)

As I only had this machine for a couple months I hadn't WitP installed on it, but a test of it on this configuration leaves the same result.

Your sound driver is from 2007, which seems very old for Vista. Please update that if possible.

Have you tried renaming your Video folder to "NoVideo" to see if the video could be causing a problem?

Are you running as an Administrator-level account?

Have you tried the other compatibility settings?

Hi Erik,

thanks for the reply. Updated the driver - and it turns out that the intro is the culprit. Renaming to .bak skips it and takes me to the main menu.

Windows Media Player notes that the extension (.avi) and file format don't match, but plays it, so does VLC player.

Oddly, I have a couple other Matrix games installed and never had a problem with the intro movies.
