MadmanRick,

Even though you enjoy doing the artwork for us, it's important for myself (and I'm sure others will agree), that I express my sincere thanks at your efforts. They go along way in making the gaming experience that much more enjoyable. Again, many thanks for your efforts.

pad152 -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/10/2010 5:10:55 PM)

How to use the aircraft art files?

Some once told me there was a way to add new plane (single aircraft) art without modding the original art files, anyone know how to do this?

MadmanRick -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/11/2010 1:00:51 AM)

The McDonnell P-67 is giving me fits (the line drawings I could locate were either of too little detail or in the case of the one I am using, needed tons of work to clean-up), so I decided to do a quickie request. So here is the Termy Special, an Avro Manchester Mk.IA, in the markings of 83 Squadron:

mgoldstein -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/11/2010 2:39:21 AM)

Request for some Japanese aircraft used in the second Sino-Japan war.

• Aichi D1A2 (Susie) - Japanese Naval Air Force's first dive-bomber. Attacked the gunboat USS Panay in 1937 as well as many other locations in China in the late 1930s.
• Nakajima A2N2 (Type 90) - JNAF's first home-developed biplane fighter.
• Nakajima A4N1 (Type 95) - JNAF's last carrier-borne biplane fighter.
• Mitsubishi B2M2 JNAF mid-30s carrier-borne biplane torpedo bomber.
• Mitsubishi Ki-10-II (Perry) - JAAF's last (and best) biplane fighter.
• Mitsubishi Ki-2-I (Type 93-1) (Louise) - JAAF's Twin-engine monoplane light bomber.
• Mitsubishi Ki-2-II (Type 93-2) (Louise) – Second generation Ki-2 upgraded with retractable landing gear, enclosed cockpits, and more powerful engines.

mgoldstein -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/11/2010 2:55:06 AM)

And the Chinese Air Force planes from the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japan war in 1937

• Boeing 281: Export version of the P-26 Peashooter.
• Fiat CR-32 Falco
• Curtiss F11C-2 Goshawk/Hawk II: Biplane fighter-bomber used by both China and Thailand. The Hawk II had fixed landing gear.
• Curtiss F11C-3 Goshawk/Hawk III: Biplane fighter-bomber used by both China and Thailand. The Hawk III featured retractable landing gear.
• Northrop Gamma 2E
• Vultee V-11-GB
• Martin 139WC
• Heinkel He111A-0
• Curtiss A-12 Shrike
• Douglas O-2MC
• Vought V-65 Corsair

MadmanRick -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/11/2010 3:29:39 AM)

The CAF Hawk III is already done and posted on this forum (a page or two back). The rest will be added to the list.

Really easy since MichaelM introduced the Rotating Artwork.

Just make sure your image is 150 x 60 pixel bitmap (24 or 16 bit bitmaps both seem to work) and name it A_PlaneSidexxxx.bmp where xxxx is the bitmap number for the aircraft slot as specified in the editor.

Copy this file into the \ART\AlliedPlanes\ or \ART\JapPlanes\ folder (you may need to create it) and your new image will override the default image in the A_PlaneSide.bmp file for the entire length of the game.

For more information see the document posted by MichaelM in the first post of this thread http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2405660&mpage=1&key=

Best of luck!!

Ok, submitted for your approval; McDonnell P-67 Bat:

P.S. This one was a monster to complete. But, it came out pretty well, I think!

MadmanRick -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/11/2010 9:20:31 PM)

Also, I searched high and low on the web, even through my books including "Curtiss Aircraft - 1907-1947" and "American Attack Aircraft Since 1926" and I cannot locate a line drawing for the Curtiss A-8 Shrike anywhere. Can anyone assist?

NormS3 -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/11/2010 9:27:08 PM)

Can't remember if i sent this site to you before. Keep up the great work! I never even heard of a p-67, but your artwork is sending me to go look her up!

MadmanRick,
Thanks again for filling my requested list of aircraft.  The P-67 is outstanding.

scottott999 -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/13/2010 12:52:50 AM)

Great work MadmanRick! I'd like to put in a request for a couple of Curtis aircraft if possible. Could you make an XF14C naval version and a P-62, please?

Don Bowen -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/13/2010 1:16:43 AM)

How about a B1-Rd and a CGU-11.

scottott999 -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/13/2010 1:26:59 AM)

In flight or perched?

akdreemer -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (6/13/2010 6:40:34 AM)

Well I guess I will get on the bandwagon also, so here is my request:

Boeing XPBB Sea Ranger (Only one built, production canceled in favor of B-29, but had potential range of 11,0000 miles)

RN
Supermarine Spitfire Float Fighter

French Navy
Liorι-et-Olivier H-46 Another on-off prototype but with some promise.
Loire 210 Float-plane Fighter
Breguet 521 LR Patrol plane

I like your "intense interest" in early Soviet jets. More please. Great Yak-15. Thanks.

I was finally able to track down a decent line drawing for the Curtiss A-8 Shrike and what follows is simply sublime (imho), markings for the 37th Attack Squadron:
