Pastry lid - middle shelf, 1 hour, gas mark 4.

Remember to steam-cook them first for 5 minutes.
That'll make them so much easier to skin.
And remember thyme.
Kittens are great with thyme.

Don't forget parsley, sage and rosemary...

As to the Kamikaze issue which has been reported. We are looking at that. Personally I would rather not push out patch 02 to wait for the Kamikaze issue resolution - if we do - then likely patch 02 would be delayed until after the USA year end holidays due to various resource scheduling issues - so the alternative is to go with patch 02 as it is and do a patch 03 with the Kamikaze fix as soon as it can be ready in January. I'll talk to Erik about that and give an update once we have a decision.

I would support "go with patch 02 as it is and do a patch 03 with the Kamikaze fix as soon as it can be ready in January."

Given the large number of items being caught and fixed here for patch 2, if the team is willing to do a patch 03, I would be willing to bet a large, frothy beverage that a few more things will come up in the patch 02 release. Seems like just from the beta to the release the notes will be at least one page long. That's quite a bit in my experience.

Agree. And lots of folks are awaiting Patch 2 for game starts, but those games will take quite a while to get to Kamikaze time. If you're looking for feedback mine also is "Roll Patch 2 right along, then look at the kamikaze problem without the pressure of holding up the other stuff."

Just a humble observation I have, that AE has brought many new faces to the forum, and possibly to the genre of wargames. This note is meant for them.

Several years ago when other "wargame firms" were dropping by the wayside, or selling out to other types of games, Matrixgames was created and the first thing they did was to offer for free, an enhanced version of Steel Panthers, truly one of the finest computer wargames in existence to this day, and still played by many of us as SPWAW, (obtainable on this website).

Well, since the genre, and this site attracts so many grognards,(AKA militarily anal retentive historical perfectionists, myself included), it was just a matter of time before a clamor arose to bring out official upgrades..
With no practical, widespread experience of "upgrading" existing games, Matrixgames was at the forefront, and if mistakes were to be made, they would be the first to be in a position to make them.

The most glaring and memorable mistake they made, was announcing the date of a pending release, carving into stone a tangible with so many things which might go wrong, and did.
With each "improvement", the computer itself has a habit of altering how other parts of the program work, so while a new type of unit was added, it might also create a band of carnivorous gypsies on another side of the same battlefield, which had never been there before.
Things like this pop up all the time in computer programming, so care and testing must be done before delivery to we, the great unwashed of the consumer masses, otherwise, we the players would be yelling foul at every turn.

I can be patient, because I have learned the mistake of not being patient, and nobody likes running from the gypsies.

I had cat stew once in Argentina. It actually was quite tasty, but I have to admit that it was slightly tastier before I knew it was cat than after....

moose1999 -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 (12/6/2009 8:43:31 AM)

During a tour in Serbia, I was served something by a local (and very poor) family in a small mountain village that tasted a little like chicken, only a bit sweeter.
First they tried to convince me it was human flesh (Balkan humour - always about gypsies or cannibals...[;)]) but then admitted it was a couple of stray cats the kids caught the day before.
Pretty sure its not true, they are a bunch of jokers this family - crazy, wonderful people, like living with the cast of Monty Python - but it's a great story so I usually just stick to it... [:)]

Swenslim -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 (12/6/2009 10:06:25 AM)

Actually cat meat is very toxic and posion for human. So better never to eat it. Even during hunger people eat dogs, birds, but never cats.

Hmmm, very interesting! I searched a couple of sites on the Internet and could nothing to support this claim. Want to know more about cat eating:

http://www.messybeast.com/eat-cats.htm

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 (12/6/2009 1:43:14 PM)

Well, Swenslim, I would say cats sort of disappeared in occupied Europe (I mean in WW2) [:)] I would like to think I havent tried cats or dogs, but er... 2 months in China so far (hello from Shanghai)... so who knows! [:D]

Terminus -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 (12/6/2009 1:44:38 PM)

Cat meat is not toxic.

Mike Solli -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 (12/6/2009 1:45:31 PM)

Yup, I'm living proof.

ckammp -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 (12/6/2009 1:51:05 PM)

Regardless of what one thinks about the practice of eating cats, what does it have to do with AE?

LarryP -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 (12/6/2009 3:17:09 PM)

Probably the reason we have not gotten an "Off topic warning" is Matrix sees us as being delightfully distracted from the REAL issue... no patch.

As stated previously, the approximate time table for the first two patches is as follows:

Patch 01 will be 30 days after game release

Patch 02 will be 90 days after game release

And we are on track for these dates. We do believe patch 01 will include the ability to update scenario data changes for games already in progress. However, we will not include an ability to update AI scenario data. We may include this eventually, but it would be risky to include it now as it would require more testing time than we have. So, for patch 01, no restart required to pick up EXE (code) changes, no restart required to pick up scenario (data) changes but restart would be required to pick up AI (data) changes.

Our guidelines for these patches are that we will be doing a few internally driven adjustments (we may be aware of issues you guys haven't found - yet). But primarily we are reacting to issues you guys are finding, either code or data. We also must consider the risk of the change however, as we do not have much internal testing time. So some changes we would like to make, will be postponed if we think the risk of the change is too high.

We may do a public beta, for patch 01 and would release a change list in conjunction with the public beta release. Items may go in and out of scope regardless, so issuing a list prior to then would be pre-mature. We are trying to include fixes for every ligitimate issue that we can get in without blowing out the risk profile.

So for patch 01 I would expect public beta within about one week and then general release within two to three weeks.

I see some questions about patch 03 ... we will have more to say about the "schedule" for future patches later ... but as per plan ... we did have a set idea about wanting to get patch 01 and patch 02 out in accordance with a pre-determined time table. In terms of actual work on the patches, these time-tables were more or less met - they were both a bit late - but this was more because of the inevitable "last minute" tid-bits that needed to get done.

jwilkerson -> RE: Patch 01 ... Patch 02 ... Patch 03 ... (12/14/2009 4:06:19 PM)

We will probably release a "hot fix" for patch02 - not sure exactly when of course - but shooting for end of this week. This will be an EXE ONLY patch.

Candidates for inclusion are:

01 - Supply/Resource overflow issues and related drag issues.

02 - Artillery - toning down some more - and increasing supply consumption.

03 - Various display issues - such as the ASW/Cloud crash problem!

04 - ASW/Submarines - looking at this - will tweak if we can find issues.
