I think I read a few years back, during ww2 they had to set a law in-place where women could not divorce their "overseas husbands" until they got home. From what I unstand alot of them file for divorces. [:-][:)]

I think the game should have a random event listed in Operational Reports:

"LtCol Whitmorth received a Dear John letter, and lost 10 experience and 15 inspiration"

The law is still in place -- that is in the U.S. I mean. It is called the "Serviceman's Emergency Relief Act." A spouse cannot divorce or dispose of a serviceman's property while he/she is serving overseas. All petitions for divorce are held in abeyance until the service member returns.

Pal I did the same thing. Biggest %^&#@!(*&^% and @#(*&^%$#! of my entire life. Still half &*^%$%^& crazy 45 years later, even after 30 good (or at least much better) years with the second wife (an imported model).

I got a letter when I was in tech school.  My ex sent me a waiver for the Soldiers and Sailors civil relief act.  The Lawyer I had take a look at it told me not to sign it once he stopped laughing.  She wanted to wanted to dictate all conditions of the divorce, property ect.  Did my heart good to see how angry she got when I wouldn't sign.

Probably nowadays, you don't even get a hand-written Dear John; you get E-MAIL.

Reading all the different people's experiences I am getting pissed all over again, however, you know what they say "it is better to be pissed off than pissed on" and my ex-wife did the latter to me quite often through the years of hell. Remember how Sam Kinnerson use to describe the feeling it in his act "Awgraaaaaaaaowwargraaaaow" (not even close but you get the sound of paid and misery I hope)

Roy Clark had a song years ago that fits "Thank God and Greyhound she's gone"

Well if the economy and the Government ever manage to force me to go back to work, I think I've found a field.   There seems to be a potentially huge market out there for a "mechanic" who "fixes" ex-wives!  [8D]
