They are the only ones I recall running into. When you export to a CSV file " is most often chosen to delimit fields. When there is also one inside a field, then the spreadsheet that tries to read it in thinks that is the end of a field and everything from that point on is messed up. The quick fix is to edit the CSV file in an ASCII editor and fix up the bad " characters, making them be somethings else. The long term fix is as above, of course.

I imagine that same sort of thing is what happened to Tracker based on what Floyd said. And since you can't edit the game file, no quick fix there! Floyd and Damian will have to say if there are any other potential trouble characters.

floydg -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/9/2012 7:02:56 PM)

Pretty much just the single quote (') messes up WitPTracker. When I know it could be there, I make it work, but I don't do it automatically for all text strings...

witpqs -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/9/2012 7:17:36 PM)

Then that makes two characters, as the double-quote messes up CSV files by default.

Which exports? I think I can fix that...

No - it wasn't really your error. It's been quite a while so I'm not certain which export, but might have been sunk ships or something. In the scenario there were some ships that had 6" guns instead of 6in guns. Some ships were "sunk by" such weapons. Tracker faithfully exported the tab to a CSV. Since the delimiter for fields was a " at the beginning and a " at the end, the 6" gun effectively borked the CSV file. So when the spreadsheet read in the field with the 6" gun it sensed the " after the 6 as end of field and got all out of sync. The long term fix was that the scenarios were modified (JWE) so all the 6", 8" etc. were converted to 6in, 8in, etc.

Yeah, I see that in some places. And I know that even though it's not exactly our error, it's actually fairly simple to fix.

BigDuke66 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/10/2012 1:33:23 AM)

Any chance to see this fixed version soon?
Would like to use that for by just started game and as the RHS mod is new to me there is a lot to discover and the tracker has always been so helpful for this I wouldn't go on without it.

MAARTENR -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/12/2012 12:02:56 PM)

I get with the first of the 9 version from the 1942 campaign not how much the amount "devices" there are in the pool or are used.
Is this becausse its the 1942 campaign?

BigDuke66 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/12/2012 12:54:49 PM)

On first turn?
Could be normal, there are some things on the first turn that are not visible even in-game like Ground Reinforcement Schedule.

MAARTENR -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/12/2012 1:09:41 PM)

It's not the first turn but about the 30th turn.
I hope HOLLAND will win over Germany. LOL.[:D]

I'm not sure what you mean.

MAARTENR -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/12/2012 1:24:39 PM)

I had got the information that a Japanese sub has been destroyed with a DC Rack M7

These types of devices (depth charges, guns, etc) do not have counts in the pool. Check the game and you'll see.

MAARTENR -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/12/2012 1:37:53 PM)

Ok thanx.

BigDuke66 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/12/2012 1:38:08 PM)

Sub destroyed by DC, what is the problem?
Maybe a screenshot would help to show what you mean.

Oh and keep on dreaming "Cheesehead" [:D]

MAARTENR -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/12/2012 1:42:03 PM)

its not a problem and Germany isnt a problem for Holland. Till soon maybe.

pharmy -> delayed pilots and date non-recognition (6/12/2012 4:50:11 PM)

I make dozens of csvs per game, love tracker. Just a couple of comments, when exporting data with dates, my excel won't ever recognize your yy/mm format. Its not a big problem, just makes 42/11 show up before 42/2. I just us text to columns to separate year and date (using the slash/ as delimiter).

But when hunting for pilots with enough exp (80plus) to go to Tracom, I can't select them easily in tracker, as delayed pilots show up in the group pilot list. Is there an csv-excel way to eliminate the delayed pilots?

Not a big problem fantastic program, would die without it

geofflambert -> RE: delayed pilots and date non-recognition (6/13/2012 3:36:08 AM)

Can anyone help me? Trying to set up Tracker and I'm running into this error from Java. Any ideas what I should do (besides slit my throat and then hang myself)?

Well that is one permanent solution, but I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling Java first.
You cannot use Java7 or 64 bit with Tracker.

Treetop64 -> RE: delayed pilots and date non-recognition (6/13/2012 6:30:53 AM)

Not trying to troll but what's keeping this from being compatible with current versions of Java? Curious, this, considering that many of us use apps that likely require the latest versions of Java, and on a 64 bit platform.

You can have both 64 and 32 bit java installed at the same time. I'm guessing here that you could have Java7 64x installed ... You just need to point Tracker to the 32 bit version 6. As for Java 7, 32 bit we'll work on it when we have time and the incentive to do a re-write. Maintaining a 64 and 32 bit version is a bit much to expect from a hobby project[8D]

And no, you're not trolling and I hope I haven't written too matter a fact.

It sounds like a shortcoming of Java that you have to do much differently at all!

Historiker -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/13/2012 6:29:48 PM)

I have the Java Memory Issue, running Win 7 64bit

quote:

Use the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe command to start the witptracker.bat file. You can make a short-cut for this by making a copy of the witptracker.bat file and change the extension to something unused (e.g., witptracker.witp) and then associate the file (using the "Open With..." dialog) to open using SysWOW64\cmd.exe.

Doesn't work

Running with NoMap works, but I can't load new turns.

It doesnt work with -Xms512m -Xmx768, if you implied so.

I am getting an error running Tracker1.9.1, it seems to be a Java error, but I am able to run 1.9.0 without a problem (installed in different folder). Here's a screenshot of the Java error. I went to the Java website and reinstalled Java, same issue. Running Windows 7, 32 bit. Any ideas?

I had the same problem. I tried uninstalling and installed the Java 6 for windows online x86 32 bit, but it happened again. I started to uninstall again and discovered that they automatically installed Java 7 at the same time as Java 6. I just uninstalled the Java 7 and it worked fine. I believe you want to say no when asked if you want to update Java in the future, but I'm not sure.

Add an m after the -Xmx768. As in -Xmx768m.

Yaab -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.1 Available! (6/14/2012 10:27:59 PM)

I ran into the same problem of "no-memory" as well. I have only 5 (sic!) turnes loaded into Tracker. Had to up the memory to -Xmx768m and leave out the map. Right now I reverted to -Xms512m and ensure that the Tracker is launched first once my latop is rebooted and Windows have loaded - works everytime.

You just need to point Tracker to the 32 bit version 6.

So how do I do that?

EDIT:

I installed both Java 6 and 7. I copied the Java.exe + dll from the Java 6 folder to the tracker dir. I get this:

F:\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Tracker>java -Xms384m -Xmx512m -ja
PTracker.jar"
Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion'
has value '1.7', but '1.6' is required.
Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java SE Runtime Environment.

F:\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Tracker>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

There is no need to copy anything anymore... And you need to move these back to the right location... otherwise nothing Java will work. (We don't use the java.dll anyway)
To point to the right version of Java all you need to do is to change the batch file to something like this... The path here is for a win7x64 machine. You need to check this is the correct path.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms512m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause
