Hey Guys!

I am installing Tracker for my game with Cribtop and need to know about the ONLY Java 6 reference at the start of the install. Is this still the case? We're on 8.? of Java here...

Correct: still on Java 6.

We're re-enacting something from 70+ years ago -- using three year old technology shouldn't be an issue... [;)]

I'm having a little problem. Tracker is loading the last turn instead of the current turn. I think what happened is that I only got tracker to work after the Dec. 8th turn and it's calling that turn 1. Is there a way for me to advance that counter one?

Check the SaveMode in the witptracker.properties file. It may be grabbing an un-intended file. The turn number itself comes directly from the save file.

Technically it looks OK, but you have to verify something.

The line "Dir=", is that actually where you have that PBM, or are you using a different installation for it? Mkae sure that line has the correct (and correctly spelled) path for the PBM.

geofflambert -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (11/4/2014 6:43:00 PM)

Here are the paths

Yeah, so when you run WitPtracker, it will take whatever is in WPAE016.pws in the game's SAVE folder. If that's turn 7 from 12/13/41, that's what you get. If you want something different, set the SaveMode to something else (see the WitPTracker site for examples of how it works).

geofflambert -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (11/4/2014 10:11:36 PM)

There's an idea. I always make an interim copy after viewing the replay. I'll direct it to that and see what happens.

geofflambert -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (11/5/2014 1:35:30 AM)

That's gotta be it. I have tracker opening the pristine turn from the allied opponent instead of my first save after viewing the battle replay. I'm a knucklehead.

A quick change of pace...

Has anyone got Tracker to work on VMware Fusion on OSX?

I followed the instructions, Tracker starts, but comes back with an error after about 10 seconds.
I just want to know if it is possible right now, before I invest in more trouble shooting.

Thanks!

The VM needs to be able to execute a DOS DLL file. I don't think that's possible in this case.

Hi, I've changed my OS to w7 and I have to install the tracker, the fact is that I do everything I say instructions but when I get to work I get a screen that says "java has stopped working", can someone tell me how I do it?
Currently I am on August 44 and I need to control my industry, so I would appreciate any help.

Likely running with Java 7 or Java 8. WitPTracker only works with Java 6 at present.

Yes. I'm running it on just that right now. You need Java 6 (not 7 or 8) and follow the instructions on the Installation page.

GreyJoy -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.0.1 Available (11/26/2014 10:50:19 AM)

Hi all,

having the "usual" problem with Tracker but can't find the solution in the forums...

When the turns loaded become too many (400+) the memory simply flips away, leaving behind a tracker that takes 200+ seconds to load and presents many problems (resources and supplies disappearing etc).

I know I've already solved this problem in the past but can't remember how...

How to "cancel" the many turns under the belt in order to free the needed memory for Tracker without re-installing everything from scratch?

Thanks in advance

witpqs -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.0.1 Available (11/26/2014 2:40:15 PM)

Some relief can be gained with higher settings, but in my experience once the time to start begins making bigger jumps then the increase itself just accelerates from day to day. So once the start time gets over a minute I just delete and start a new database.

My own method is to start the data base on the last turn I had, so that when the next turn arrives I have the old turn for comparison and can receive alerts for things like moving LCUs arriving at their destination (which is a huge help from Tracker).

I remember who played the Japanese side (and wanted long term data on production) saying that he keeps TWO Trackers for each game. One of them is handled pretty much as I described. The other one gets run on (I forget) either the first day or last day of each month. So that second database will only have 60 turns in it after 5 game-years and will run OK, and it has a series of snapshots going back to the beginning of the game.

Here are my settings:
quote:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java" -Xms512m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap
pause

EHansen -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.0.1 Available (11/26/2014 4:57:47 PM)

My turn sequence is:
1. Start Tracker.
2. Load WitP
3. Run turn combat replay
4. Load turn file
5. Load Combat Reporter.

I use Combat Reporter to do most of the turn.
By this time about 12 - 20 minutes have gone by and Tracker is loaded and I then load the present turn.

I can get about 12 - 13 months of data in a tracker set before I have to restart.
I start a new tracker set about 30 days before the current one is going to take too long to load.

That said, I do have 16GB of RAM and a SSD disk drive. I am sure that helps.

floydg -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.0.1 Available (11/26/2014 6:31:16 PM)

You can free up a little memory space by purging the alerts (Database management screen).

Something I really do need to work on.

That's me, witpqs, I keep two files. The daily one I start a new database every 100 turns or so, and the other folder I run it on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Sorry, getting back into WITP after a year or so, and my computer has updated to Java 7. Is there a way to have two versions of Java installed? I seem to remember something about making a copy of the Java 6 .dll file in the Tracker directory, but I may be remembering wrong. Or would I have to uninstall Java completely and reinstall Java 6?

BigDuke66 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (11/30/2014 7:51:51 PM)

I simply installed them in seperate folders, seems to work fine so far.

Justus2 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (11/30/2014 10:01:41 PM)

Thanks, took some time but I figured it out. I had them in separate folders, but it was still recognizing Java 7 first. I uninstalled and reinstalled Java6 (in a folder at c:\java6), then edited the Tracker .bat file to run java from that folder. Works so far!

Justus2 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (11/30/2014 11:39:36 PM)

Spoke too soon - Tracker ran and loaded up an old Tracker db file I had, but when I attempted to run it on a new save, it said it can't load a 32-bit DLL on a 64-bit system. I have used Tracker before on this computer, is it because I installed the 64-bit Java 6?
