Erik Rutins -> New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/15/2009 10:57:22 PM)

It's available now in the Downloads section here:

http://www.matrixgames.com/products/351/downloads/War.in.the.Pacific.-.Admiral's.Edition

Only two changes to address two critical issues:

v1.00.84e Hotfix – September 15, 2009

• Code Changes
1. Corrected an array boundary issue causing occasional crashes.
2. Removed the invalid ship file update from the data update process. This change is in accordance with the documentation for 1.00.84. Games that were already “updated” their data from previous versions to 1.00.84 will unfortunately already have the bad ship file data, but this hot fix allows games that have not yet been updated to safely update. Please note that this issue did not affect new games started with 1.00.84.

Thats a really good turn around time from finding the bug to the fix. Shame other companies don't take this kind of interest in the customers.

Thanks Guy!!

Thanks should go to James and Michael. James stayed up all night in East Coast USA timezone to nail the spot in the code where the issue was - since James could reproduce the issue - then Michael in Melborne time zone finished by actually fixing the code and uploading the new build in time for Erik - back on East Coast USA time zone to release the build!!! Great multi-time-zone coordination by some real professionals. I've been doing this kind of work for more years than some of you have been alive - and yet even I am impressed!!! [:)][&o][&o][&o]

You guys rock!

Cribtop -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/16/2009 4:29:06 AM)

If we have the bad ship data file, should we abandon existing games, or can they be salvaged?

Kudos for the quick bug killing!

michaelm75au -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/16/2009 6:49:02 AM)

I think the only real 'bad' ship data is that the ship delays have been reset to a non-accelerated value.

Honestly, I can't see why you want to abandon a game for that...assume the ship builders went on strike.[;)]
If you had a save from prior to applying the older 1084 patch, you could restart from there if you wanted to.

Otherwise, the old accelerated delay can't be recovered in the new save.

Is the update procedure for PBEM games the same as the main patch or being a hotfix it can be installed by any player first?

Thanks

JeffroK -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/16/2009 10:51:33 AM)

Does this effect the Allies also or Japanese only since the Allies have no control over whats built or how fast (will my CV's etc. still show up on the given date as a reinforcement I guess is the question)???

FOW -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/16/2009 1:21:06 PM)

Japan only Capt'n.

More an issue for the PBEM players as I suspect the AI (in Allied vs AI) doesn't do ship acceleration....

I suspected as much FOW but wanted to make sure............thanks!

Does the array issue address the crash to desktop error with the multi-core system switches or is this another issue?

Justascratch -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/16/2009 1:49:08 PM)

You guys should form the Game Patch Olympics. You should place well in all categories requiring speed and or skill.

edit : found my answer.

Cribtop -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/17/2009 4:15:41 AM)

Thanks for the replies. Definitely no need for me to re-start as I'm so far playing the Guad scenario anyway.

I believe that it is the same issue, just more apparent on the multi-cores.
Will wait for more feedback if problem still exists.

Central Blue -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/18/2009 1:20:19 AM)

what procedure should I follow if I am still playing on the beta patch? I am in March of the Ironman scenario against the Japanese AI.

Can I just apply this fix? Or were their differences between the beta and the official first patch?

Great work guys. Real dedication.

Barneyrubb90 -> RE: New v1.00.84e Hotfix Available (9/18/2009 7:10:25 PM)

Michael,

I have been running with the multi-core -CPU# switch back on since the patch seems to be working better and faster and no crashes.

Thanks
