timurlain -> RE: GoingAgain1792 (11/24/2009 6:35:28 AM)

Hello guys,

I am sorry.

I will send in my turn today. When I wrote that I am in an unresponsive ode I hoped that would end with the weekend, but it didn't. I spend last 9 days working almost every minute when I wasn't sleeping and when we finished yesterday evening I didn't have the strength to spend another 20 mins doing my turn, because I've just seen about enough of computer screen. I will send in my turn today and I am back in being responsive and hoping this will not repeat for my own sake and sanity. Isn't coding fun ? :)

Kind regards,

montesaurus -> RE: GoingAgain1792 (11/24/2009 12:33:45 PM)

No problem Tomas!
Just glad to have you on board, and I understand how real life can affect game life!

DaveConn -> RE: GoingAgain1792 (11/24/2009 4:31:48 PM)

Speaking of real life, from Saturday 11/30 through Thursday 12/3 I will be on vacation (in Hawaii; a great change from Seattle this time of the year).  I will have internet access and hopefully I can maintain a reasonably normal "gaming schedule"; but there may be some delays.

timurlain -> RE: GoingAgain1792 (11/25/2009 6:27:36 PM)

Hello,

turn sent just now. Planned on sending it yesterday, but I was still unable to really touch the computer and think, especially not after a day spent shopping with my lovely woman. (she really isn't the shopping type at all, never seen her do it, but I guess one learns :) )

HiHi

A 'Just in case', Monte has already reiterated my warning re files possibly not being safe when using a Hotmail account.

But so everybody has an idea what, "Can" happen, below is a C&P of part of the orriginal warning I posted; personal opinion but untill WCS (as has already been suggested), puts some form of encryption on the .sve files it may be wiser to not use an open account and send your files direct to Spain, your call.

However that’s not the issue I was raising, that concerns open text sometimes carried in Merged files which can include details of Secret treaties etc. It may well be that this is occurring because of the damaged files Dave had probs with in our ‘No Frills’ game, dunno thats techno stuff and outside my area of knowledge, I only noticed it because, prompted by your Role-play claim on the ‘No Frills’ MB that france had been supplied details of a Secret treaty by another European power, I wondered if I hadn’t inadvertently left incriminating evidence in an email to someone who shouldn’t have been party to the deal; to cut a long story short I did a ‘Search’ in my email programme based on £300, the sum involved, and started backtracking, and what I noticed was that T30 showed details while T29 did not

Here’s a C&P of what I noticed using the ‘Search’ engine.

The strategic withdrawal question arose again, with respect to Britain and France. Once again, I selected "no". In the future, it you do want to do a strategic withdrawal when hostilities end, please let me know. I know that may require some anticipation, but that is probably the most efficient way to do it.

Now, I did those yesterday for Eric, and have just gone back in to C&P them for you folk here and notice the 1st file Dave sent for T33 also contains open text, the subsequent one we were asked to use due to a damaged file doesn’t have the open text, so it would now seem that these damaged files are what are causing the problem, Dave maybe you could forward them on to Eric at WCS so he can see what goes down, as it’s obviously something that needs to be fixed ... well, as far as I’m concerned anyhow!

All the Best
Peter

montesaurus -> RE: GoingAgain1792 (11/26/2009 12:11:27 PM)

I agree with Kingmaker, in the future I'll only be sending the turns to DRConn.
I don't have a back up hard drive yet(it's on my C'mas list), so perhaps someone could save all the completed turns to an external harddrive, so we'll have a back up for the turns?
Thanks

Hi Kingmaker,
The "secret treaty" you referred to was actually found when I clicked onto the "treaty" box toward the bottom of the screen (the one that comes up when you hover your cursor above it), during no frills.
To all players beware, because any secret treaty will show up in this box! It appears that if a player can remember to check this box every turn he will discover any "secret" treaties, as this occurred to me when Gravey found out about a "secret" treaty between the Spanish, Russians, and French in our first game!
So, in regards to this, to me it seems to me that being able to find secret treaties was an oversight on the designers, as they aren't that secret after all![;)]

Kingmaker -> RE: GoingAgain1792 (11/26/2009 1:21:11 PM)

HiHi

Yer, point taken Monte re the 'Tab' giving the game away so to speak, I just missed it in the actual game, but the point of the warning is that all sorts of other stuff can be Hacked as well, I just used the Secret treaty bit as an eg that shows up in the emails because at the time it was a relivant issue and from that the whole Hacking thing was discovered by accident as it were.

Good point re there really being 2 issues though, and good advice re always checking the 'Tabs'.

All the Best
Peter
