WitE, EDBtR, and from next Tuesday, Modern Warfare 2.

Hope you didn't plan on playing it multi. Did you see the yesterday's announcement? Gross...
There's not even gonna be lean in single player... Thanks IW.

Didn't see an announcement, no. Don't care about multi-player either; multi-player FPSs tend to be overrun with 12-year olds. No thanks.

I was very disappointed w/that game; perhaps I should have bought the Jutland version?

I love this game. It has the same level of detail and historical accuracy that makes WITP so great. All of that detail, and yet so playable. Imagine if WITP had a tactical naval combat routine like Jutland? I keep bothering Storm Eagle to consider using the game engine to develop their next effort "Iron Bottom Sound"

Wow, there are survivors for BiN ?
Granted i find time in a (near ? ) future, this could interest me [:)]

i'm very curious about AGEOD's World War One -- apparently coming out with a major 'gold edition' upgrade soon, which if it gets positive reviews, i'll have to pick up...

Living in the same town as french developper Philippe Thibault, i used to play the boardgame with him and some friends, before it was schedulded for computer. It was a great game.
Also used to play Europa Universalis (board game) with him. It was...hmmmmm, oh damn, it was 15 years ago [X(]

For me at the moment its

Jutland

Greetings
Rainer

Rainer,
How do you like Jutland?
I picked it up early in the year and played several of the scenarios. I have not tried playing online yet. I have been getting the itch to play it some more.

Sorry for the delay, I was on a businesstrip[>:]

Are you the Seydlitz from the Gamesquad-Forum?

Well, for me as a German WW1 is the only period where we had a fleet comparable to England (ok, more or less...) and I am fascinated by these old battleships. The only other game of this type is from 1992, "Dreadnoughts" made by Peter Turcan (Austerlitz anyone?).
At the moment I play the German campaign and reached June of 1916. So far I have sunk all the British Battlecruisers and about 10 Dreadnoughts together with an uncounted number of small vessels. The Channel is ruled by the German Hochseeflotte.
The game runs smooth on my Computer with all settings to the maximum and there are very few technical issues. The interface is not the best but if you are used to play Grigsby games[:D]...
Tactics: If you want to win, you better leave your destroyers and light cruisers at home and just stick with your battleships.
Try to pick a small portion of the Grand Fleet and try to sink or damage those ships. The stupid AI does not seem to repair much of the ships and losses due to ramming other ships are quite high.
Its a nice game and the battles are fun. If you have mastered WITP you probably canīt lose this game[;)]
One annoying point in the campaign ist the interception of merchants. The outcome is normally clear, but you always have to play it out some how.

Greetings

Rainer

I really hate that all the last naval surface sims have all been Real Time. A pain to try to manage the big battles and you miss most of the action. I tried the Jutland demo and that was my biggest impression. Without pausing the game every few seconds it was virtually impossible to keep track of all that was going on and you miss so much of the action. I wish someday someone would do one of these in turn format.

Terminus -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/5/2009 5:12:52 PM)

That sounds really "realistic"... SES strikes again.[8|]

hmmm interesting!

Canoerebel -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/5/2009 7:42:32 PM)

What do I do when I'm not playing AE?

I think about AE.

Not all the time, but alot of the time.  One of my favorite times is when I put down the book I've been reading, turn out the light, and lay my head on the pillow.  Sick, isn't it?

I also think about the game alot over lunch and while I'm out running or mountain biking or hiking.

Sad, isn't it?

But, oh, so fun!

88l71 -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/5/2009 7:51:28 PM)

World of Warcraft (just got into that, part of the reason I haven't been posting on here, aside from waiting for patch 2 to restart my Allied campaign) and a couple Total War games (Mideval II vanilla and Rome Europa Barbarorum mod)

Have a PS3 but lately haven't been into console games...spend 70 bucks and you can beat the game in a few hours? Kind of a rip off for me.

Laxplayer -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/5/2009 9:08:28 PM)

NHL 10 on the PS3 (and occasionally NCAA Football and Madden). Fallout 3 on the PC, and occasionally Football Manager 2010.

I used to be very addicted to EQ2, now I can't afford it, so I'm much better off.

When I'm not playing, I'm mostly chasing around my 2 year old son.

eww....too abstract.

Supremacy at Sea looks interesting though

Terminus -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/5/2009 10:25:23 PM)

It is.

crsutton -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/5/2009 10:52:48 PM)

A few HPS Campaigns and Civil War games.
Medieval II-Stainless Steel Mod
Still play Combat Mission Afrika Korps.

For shooters nothing beats Red Orchestra-Darkest Hour. I love driving those tanks and switching out the barrel on my MG42.

And I still load up Diablo II to blow off some steam. One of the best games ever made.

You guys convinced me. I am going to order Jutland.

WITE when it comes out.

There's usually a mute button in those games, it's quite possibly their best feature. I run Team Fortress 2 with voice_enable 0 on so I don't have to listen to any of them.

Rising-Sun -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/6/2009 2:26:38 AM)

Heh diablo II fanboy, well Blizz going to have D3 coming out soon of another six more months. The reasons im not happy with it, cant play a necromancer :( and dont care for stinkin/ugly witchdoctor lol.

Now Dragon Age might be really good, the reason i looking into it cuz of toolkit and see how far i can really go by moddin it. Good ol' times in Oblivion and Morrowind.

bradfordkay -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/6/2009 3:41:39 AM)

Dragon Age is by Bioware, who created the modder's dream Neverwinter Nights. I'm sure that I'll be picking it up sometime this winter just because I have enjoyed every one of their RPGs (nearly as much as I enjoy Bethesda's).

39battalion -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/6/2009 6:43:58 AM)

1. Football Manager 2010

2. Eagle Day/Bombing the Reich

3. HPS Panzer Campaigns

Hertston -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/6/2009 7:15:53 AM)

AI War: Fleet Command, mostly.

Rainer

Nope, never been to that forum. But I have been Seydlitz on forums for about 15 years.

Ever had your subs do anything in Jutland?

a7v -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/6/2009 3:25:42 PM)

Not really. They immediatly start to dive and dissappear from the tactical battlefield after a short time and if they are close to a surface fleet they fire some torpedoes. I have 1 sub damaged by coastal artillery and have sunk one by a lucky hit at the beginning of a tactical battle.
Only the UC-Minelayers can be used directly by the player and they are busy in the channel.

Greetings

Rainer

Eagle Day, HPS Guadalcanal Naval battles at the moment [I would love to see some real time naval action from Matrix] and will be buying GGs War in the East the day it is released.

Try JUTLAND out...great WWI naval simulation. Best I have ever seen. Great MP play also.

Templer_12 -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/6/2009 10:07:38 PM)

Front office football 2007 - because the Cowboys need more rings.
Forge of Freedom - by Matrix Games. I like it very well. Is also challenging. An excellent game.

These two were my favorites before WitP AE.

And in between, just to relax:
Evil Genius - is funny! Great Game. Unfortunately, many bugs.

Rare but still every now and then:
Battle of Britain II "Wings of Victory"
Nascar Racing 2003
NHL East side hockey manager 2007
Jagged Alliance 2 Wildfire
UFO: Extraterrestrials
Galactic Civilization
X Reunion
Chess

Last week I purchased Close Combat - The Longest Day - Download and CD.
I still know the original. I still like it.
I have played about 2 hours, well, then returned WitP AE.

The purchase of the games listed above I donīt regret. For me they are all worth the money.
Over the years, I will still collect a few other games that really played so infrequently that I havenīt mentioned here.

Actual Iīm interested in Gary Grigsby's Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich.
But I canīt find a demo and even not a good and honest review. So I donīt now is it worth to buy.

With my new system I lost many games I loved. They wonīt work no more.

But however - WitP AE rules! [;)]
With the box and the purchase should come a warning:
"Playing can harm your health and your social life" [:D]

Anthropoid -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/7/2009 1:28:27 PM)

Fallout 3 (still fiddling with a modded version of Vanilla and have yet to buy the Game of Year Edition); I'm also in two Crown of Glory Emperor's Edition PBEMs (playing Russia in both). Starting to miss my old Civ days and wondering when Sid will produce Civ 5.

LeeChard -> RE: What do you play when not playing WitP:AE? (11/7/2009 4:02:18 PM)

HPS Squad Battles series, CIV4 Colonization,Fallout3,War Plan Orange.
My wish list: UV given the AE treatment more than the planned tactical mod, and I sure wish someone would come up with a new WW1 air combat sim.
