I hate it when that happens, but at this point of the scenario it is not permanent, which means you will soon get consecutive turns of your own [:D].

12 October 1941... Beaten by the mud!!!
More than 3/4 of my formations are forced to reorganize.

My last turn didn't yield any results... several combat rounds went by but the Ruskis couldn't be driven out of Moscow.

Foreseeing the mud I started to consolidate my latest gains and fill gaps in my frontlines nationwide.
Here's how the front gets stabilized

Well, it kinda sucks, but that's all part of it and it made my assignment tougher.
In battle nasty surprises do happen.

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/6/2010 7:55:15 AM)

When the fuhrer got news that the offensive got stuck in the mud, he was furious[;)]

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/8/2010 6:21:10 AM)

The mud finally subsided and I'm gonna attempt a final drive to the Kremlin.
The flanks will stay where they are for the time being.

Assigned equipment on 12 November 1941
It'll be interesting to see what's gonna be left after an eventual Russian winter offensive

Nice inventory matrix. How was it done?

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/8/2010 5:52:57 PM)

Here's the line-up for the latest round of Moscow mayhem. I simply cannot clear another path into the city.
Elmer's doing a great job with rotating units and having units on T reserve.
If this fails I'm gonna give up Moscow for now, cuz my central front is becoming more vulnerable for a counterstroke

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/8/2010 5:56:20 PM)

Once the ground froze I continued my advance in the south, getting close to Rostov and the Donets river.

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/8/2010 7:04:16 PM)

We did it, we finally did it!!!![sm=character0272.gif]
Edit>>> We didn't[:@] During Elmer's turn (moving second) he kicked 'em out again, thereby setting off the event increasing Soviet replacements to 115%
I've got one more chance, adding he relatively fresh 30th and 86th Infantry Divisions to the attack, I'm gonna try to go in once more

Josh -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/8/2010 9:56:12 PM)

Tough battle hm? Wasting all your troops to try to take the city... leave other fronts vulnerable to a counterattack... hmm, sounds... familiar.
Can't wait to see your next screenshot. Good luck.

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 7:13:25 AM)

More of the same during the November 30 turn... and yes, the Russians start to strike back

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 7:29:30 AM)

On turn 48 I finally managed to enter and hold Moscow - during my lunch break btw[:D]
But it took several units to keep my grip on the city, and the Ruskis are getting stronger and bolder.
Now my 1941 objective has been met I'm gonna have to pull back in order to avoid the central front from collapsing before I get the Hitler order "No retreat"

Abnormalmind -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 7:34:49 AM)

Nice and well done. But ouch, that's a lot of Soviets. Their Winter Offensive is exciting!

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 6:33:24 PM)

3 December 1941 - The Soviet counter offensive will be upon me soon
Before I start my next turn, some screenies. First my small on hand equipment chart.

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 6:41:25 PM)

The area north of Moscow is where I expect to have the most difficulties this winter.
Elmer's already been probing and penetrating in several sectors even before the full fledged Soviet offensive.

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 6:43:19 PM)

South of Moscow there could have been room for more advance -as indicated on the map... but I fear I'll have to transfer units out of this sector to reinforce my north flank of AGC[:(]

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 6:45:07 PM)

In the far south I only have wide open steppes between me and the Don, and I am at the gates of Rostov... This all looks very tempting, but then again, if AGC collapses these dudes of AGS will be left hanging in the wind.

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 8:25:16 PM)

The movie for turns 44 till 47. I kept the advance in the south going

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/9/2010 8:31:59 PM)

OK I'm gonna end my turn.
Tiny sideshow event: In the south I reached Konstantinovsk on the lower Don.

In Moscow I executed a fairly decent pull-out and started to reinforce my northern lines.
This is all about surviving the first winter

dicke bertha -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/10/2010 1:13:40 AM)

Moscows suburbs suck, most inhabitants may agree! Now what did I say about feeeding in a few more landser divisions to take the damn thing.. ;) I think you're overweight in AGS. I think around T1o or so, one really needs to think where one should send the extra inf divs. I sent mine to Leningrad, now there are a few too much there, lacking a few aroundish Moskow....

Abnormalmind -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/10/2010 2:35:51 AM)

Interesting. The Soviets will revive their railnet and most of their industry. I'm curious how the PO will counterattack with Moscow controlled.

Yeah, that may influence my decisionmaking for Fall Blau in 1942... I've got a drive to Stalingrad and Saratov in mind, and then a swing north, leaving the Caucasus for what it is

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/10/2010 8:06:33 AM)

One of the last real offensive operations with a definite aim in 1941 was successfully accomplished.

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/10/2010 8:09:45 AM)

On the Don I've been advancing very cautiously while the pull-back from Moscow was ongoing.
My units in the south are in good shape.
In the Crimea the Romanians -with some German assistance- broke into the Perekop isthmus

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/10/2010 8:11:52 AM)

And to end this series of screenies, the crucial central sector, where Elmer is giving me plenty of bang for the buck

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/13/2010 6:21:21 AM)

The movie up till turn 55. The center is holding and I'm still making valuable gains in the south. The Finns however are having a hard time containing Soviet pinpoint attacks

Silvanski -> RE: Moscow or bust! D21 (2/14/2010 7:28:00 PM)

At the start of turn 59 here's some damage done by the Soviet winter offensive.
As stated in the D21 development thread, rested Axis units is a must, but the Soviet winter shock may have to be increased in order to give 'em more "oomph"
