If you'd put out sarcasm...but what you do is no sarcasm in my opinion, at least not in any form I have seen. Negative vibes, so to speak. How about thinking something positive for a while? "Game stinks cos I lost X planes vs. XX" is how it seems to come out. That is not constructive criticism, or criticism at all but something else. Even when with evidence, it makes people really biased about what one has to say. Also, it might have skipped attention, that AE devs, at least to my knowledge, are not paid for their work, but do this in addition to their normal day jobs, like The Elf, who is USN fighter pilot, IIRC. Demanding commercial-level response from people who made AE out of their goodwill and love of WitP and putting out constantly negative posts about game is not going to endear you among those who contributed to the game...for free. Maybe you should consider some things and count to 10 before posting...I know it helps me. [8D]

I´m not that esoteric. The question if I´m right or wrong is a different question and I can only admit once again that it people are of different oppinion then I´ve got no problem with them (while they seem to have with me). If my example was right or wrong, well this surely is arguable. The other one with the 130:3 is surely not arguable, at least not if you use the "sanity filter". If the reason for this is a single instance when some routine got loopsided and that´s the explanation then why not just say this. Instead this thread turned out to be a I shoot you first thing... as I am the thread starter, I´m of course responsible for all of this, so again, blame me.

Sometimes strange things happen. They do, ive experienced them myself, I accept the fact that this is not a chess game because there are dice rolls and player brains involved and sometimes both do strange things. When things you do seem lopsided then check how many times they worked exactly as planned and compare. Not only to your one single game but in general, in all the AAR´s, in all the different player experiences. When I do this I always come back to the conclusion that nothing screams at me "its broken". Battles like Midway do happen. In reality. I bet the dice rolls were much in favour of the allies. That doesnt tell me that theres something wrong with reality, somebody only had a very bad day.

To: castor troy There will always be strange outcomes, called "outliers". Now, how many of your air battles produce one of those 130:3 results? Or where "UberCap" shoots your bombers out of sky? I know you play this game a lot and so do I. I have never seen anything like 130:3, I have seen obsolete bombers blasted out of the sky by IJN elite now and then. I think it'd be reasonable, if harsh outcome. If one gets consistently bad outcomes in situations where more moderate casualties would be the norm, then it is good to have queries why it is happening. One example was artillery bombardments..and devs were very quick to to respond, to extent using THEIR holiday season to fix the problem somewhat. Taking extreme examples or obvious player "less-than-optimal orders" and using them as proof that game is seriously flawed is not the way to go. "Tossing your toy out of the pram" will make people view the complaint exactly that way. I have complained quite harshly about some aspects of game too. Difference is that I used data and examples easily reproduced, not extreme examples. Probably not because my examples only, some bugs were discovered. Unfortunately, lot of things in AE can be discovered only by "trial & error", since manual does scratch only surface and it'd take years full time from devs to explain all things. This is one reason this forum is here. I have been on these forums bit longer even than you and I do not personally like the way you present things. I don't find it very constructive or helpful. But this is just my opinion and as it's said, opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one.

The Elf thought the results were so off, that one might have realised, that there was a game mechanics breakdown because of gamer abuse, instead of claiming the game was flawed per se. mjk wanted to calm down people but somehow became a collateral damage. So, please be good boys now and don´t screem on each other anymore, thanks.

I would expect a gentleman to stand to what he said. It isn´t the topic, which made peolpe explode all over teh place, it was the mood (word?), that was so off a normal discussion. It isn´t what was said, but how it was said (just a try to make more understandable, what I want to say). ImhO Castor was a little harsh in its critizism, Elf was a bit harsh in its reaction and some were giving to much weight to the words said and not the meaning of them. of course it is absolutely possible, that I don´t get the ultra aggressive intonations of some vocabulary, .... I have realised, my try to save the situation was somehow to late, so just quarrel on, gentlemen.

No idea re. the patches, however I've not seen anything even close to the tests rominet did with P40s vs Zeroes in my own games now they are all patched. P40s get 1:1 with Zeroes on a good day, if you're lucky. More usually they get slaughtered - they definitely seem to get slaughtered if you try to mass them. Plenty of AARs out there with P40s getting slaughtered. Kill ratios of 10 to 1 all the way up to 30 to 1.

I disagree with Castor's original assertion in this thread, but I will say this: I've read his PBEMs, including all of a sixty page or so one in witp. The truth is that he is the biggest griper I have ever seen. It's a tendency of his to complain, a lot, and I think he would still do it even if everything went absolutely perfect all the time. I don't blame him for it though. It comes down to this: You're entitled to your opinions about how the game is or isn't broken/unrealistic. Now, compared to other gaming forums, this one is a utopia of civility. There's never been a need for personal attacks on this forum. Lets keep it that way.
