OK sorry I've been absent for a few days - that's what happens when you go on holiday [;)]

Anyway - I've put up a video on ShipProduction, some of it dealing with Tracker
Found here:
http://sites.google.com/site/n01487477/Home
Remember IE users need to download the file and play locally ...

Tomorrow I tackle ship repairs & Base expansion.(and might see if I can redo some of the remaining wmf files too).

chrisol -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/6/2010 5:03:15 PM)

Many thanks again.

I don't suppose you could do one on replacements and the pool ?

(partic for land and air units)

Chris

seille -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/6/2010 5:04:18 PM)

Great Damian ! Many thanks.
No need to hurry especially on holiday, as long as you do not forget to make new videos from time to time [:D]

And another on Production ... just the beginning in a series.
First up Macro (large scale) ... which will be followed up by some more on the Macro side, before looking at the Micro(small).

Chris,
I did one on Air replacements ... Is this the sort of thing you wanted ?
Land is much harder to show, but I could summarise some of the material for you ...

koontz -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/11/2010 5:57:52 PM)

Great thread!

One wish is how to setup an TF to move and attack during the night and withdraw right after?

Rainer -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/11/2010 7:07:18 PM)

Set Mission to Bombard. That's all there is to it.
The TF will go towards the target and "sprint" full speed the last leg. After executing the bombardment the TF will retire full speed. There is nothing else you need to do.
You can see that the TF is doing as described by the accumulated damage resulting from the full speed action.

n01487477 -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/11/2010 11:10:06 PM)

One thing I would have liked to have done was show Fast Transports in action too, but until Patch3, only supply FT's work from what I can tell. Otherwise I defer to Rainer on the Bombard mission stuff.[:)]

Spot on... many thanks (I've got the Pilot replacement ones which are great though the level of detail in the game is a bit overwhelming at times) - the aircraft replacements was exactly what I was after.

Something similar on land units (even if just a commentary guiding us around the information screen) would be great but I appreciate that these take time to make.

Thank you,
Chris

koontz -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/11/2010 11:20:19 PM)

But it wont work if there is an invasion fleet who already have started to unload troops, just tried it. Then the TF will bobmbard the ground forces.

Well there is always a chance that a Bombardment TF, will hit Transports unloading ... I guess I should really do one on reaction and I'll include in this some info on bombardment and SCTF's...

No worries Chris, I'll see what I can do for you. I think a commentary will be how I handle it as LCU replacement/device or TOE upgrades can be a somewhat ad-hoc affair ...

Grotius -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/12/2010 12:40:31 AM)

Terrific work, Damian! I just watched the "meet/follow" tutorial with special interest, as I managed to mess that up in my recent game. Your video confirmed my understanding: you had the faster (Bombardment, in your case) TF lead and the slower (Amphibious) group follow.

Anyway, these are a terrific resource for the whole AE community, not just newbies. Thanks for doing this.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/12/2010 1:43:47 PM)

Very nice sir, I went over the pilot training and learned alot I didn't know. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to do this for all of us.[&o]

n01487477 -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (2/20/2010 8:01:12 AM)

Since the Beta has allowed Fast Transports to work as intended, I've done a long winded explanation about them (20Mb)[X(] ... But I just love 'em so ... [:D]

Thank you for that tutorial.

No worries...

3 more on Tracker Air Production ... be warned this is for ver 1.5 Tracker which hasn't been release yet. To be followed up with Tracker and AE side by side sorting out some airframes...

Thank you again. Not only is this a great learning tool but it also helps me, a prospective buyer, see this excellent game in action. I know I will be back to the videos once I get my hot little hands on this game. Thank you so much!

This is outstanding! Why have I not seen this before? I am a relative noob and you have really helped me more than I can say! Thanks!![&o]

Swayin -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (3/24/2010 10:36:15 PM)

I found the trio on aircrew/TRACOM to be especially informative!

39battalion -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (3/25/2010 5:31:50 AM)

I have just discovered these wonderful little tutorials.

It is amazing how much detail they uncover. Making use of the tutorials along with the manual, the forum and the AARs it is now possible to get a reasonable understanding of what is going on in this incredible game.

It is certainly the deepest and most immersive game I have ever played, and it is slowly but surely taking over my whole life [X(] [X(] [X(]

Many, many thanks to Damian for these tutorials

n01487477 -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (3/25/2010 5:40:37 AM)

Thanks for the kudos guys,

I'll try to get some more out in the near future now that Tracker 1.5.1 (my other project with Floyd) has been released today.

I was thinking about looking at:
  • TF reaction
  • Naval support, rearming etc
  • a turn by turn of Coral Sea[&:]
  • Air co-ordination (thanks to LoBaron)
or are any more basic topics needed to be covered [&:]

    Any other suggestions welcome ...

  • yeknod -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (3/25/2010 8:52:27 AM)

    Thanks Damian, your videos help.

I like the idea of turn by turn, with explanations for choices made and perhaps showing common mistakes and how best to avoid them? So, showing a turn that gives a disastrous outcome and then reshowing it again with explanations to give a more favourable outcome.

sitito -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (4/16/2010 7:40:09 AM)

Guys, thousands of thanxs. Without these videotutorials an idiot like me wouldnt be able to do nothing...[&o] Anyway, i see that u miss an install tutorial (kidding!!!)

seille -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (4/16/2010 9:01:35 AM)

    Naval support/rearming would be cool.

How about a "how to reduce ops losses" video ?

Then i think it would be good you mark the latest entries of videos in some way.
Maybe with a *NEW or something like this.

Rankorian -> RE: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials (4/24/2010 2:39:26 AM)

Great stuff.  Bought the game a few weeks ago, and have still not gotten up the nerve to actual play--this stuff is great.  Can't imagine, as someone who never had the original WITP, how I would have ever figured all this stuff out.

Yeah just like driving a new ferrari, can't just look at it in the driveway all the time, have to take it out for a spin sometime [;)]

Glad the video's have helped, I had intended on doing more but have been seeing a new "light" mistress for the last few days. She's new and interesting and got me in her digital clutches - but I doubt it'll last...we'll have to see ...

Also I've started some small game projects using C4engine. Anyway I made a commitment to this and will have to come back to the wife shortly[;)]
