Krec -> looking forward to this game (3/4/2010 5:38:48 AM)

after seeing the latest shots i am really looking forward to this game. looks great and know it will be a instant classic.

Obsolete -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/5/2010 10:19:28 AM)

Ohhh?  And how can you be certain it wont' be another Hasbro "Squad Leader" fiasco?  :P

Just kidding guys.  I hope this does finally come around this year, but I am not going to bet on it.

bosbes -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/9/2010 7:57:37 PM)

Also hoping for a release this year, but I don't have any clue what's it going to be.

ham17 -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/10/2010 3:15:05 PM)

Go get the manager!

bosbes -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/13/2010 6:16:21 PM)

Where is the manager?

Gunhawk -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/19/2010 7:41:02 AM)

The joke is that this game has been in production for over five years! When someone said that it was "vapor ware" Mark said that we should have anyone with any questions about the game come to the Lock n Load forum. We followed the game's development through the fall of last year when Mark said in an interview that it was scheduled for 2009. When that didn't happen some of us asked questions in the forum, Mike got annoyed, and presto!...the lock n load forum disappeared! So here we are in 2010 waiting to see if this game will be produced this year, but I wouldn't count on it. I used to believe that the game wouldn't hit the market until 2010, but now my guess is that it never will never be produced at all.

bosbes -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/19/2010 7:11:26 PM)

I understand perfectly what you're saying, but I still hope to see something that might give us some to look forward to.

wodin -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/20/2010 1:18:27 PM)

So the forum is no longer on Mikes site??? That is ominous indeed.

lparkh -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/23/2010 5:30:33 PM)

Things may not be as grim as that. Mark said the company forum was too much of a hassle to maintain. So this site as well as the boardgamegeek site for his company (and consim) are primary sites now. Remember he is primarily a boardgame customer and has a lot of activity there. So I think he is spread pretty thin. I believe the game will come out. Probably still this year. THey had entered beta testers stage if I recall correctly.

Rocko911 -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/25/2010 12:24:25 AM)

This game was a lead on to get us to buy the board game. This is so vapor ware.

lparkh -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/25/2010 4:49:51 PM)

I admire your hard nosed cynicism but I bet we'll see this game eventually. I've been watching it for years :-( and tangible progress continues to be made.. it's his first forey into computer games and he has one programmer I think. Coming from a programming background I can tell you things you've never done before almost always take 2x to 3x the expected time.
Anyway let's hope I'm right :-)

Obsolete -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/25/2010 5:51:28 PM)

Hmm!

Well, it is probably for the best that there are not too many (good) Squad Leader games for the PC out there, or I'd be wasting more time with my life than I currently do :P

lparkh -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/26/2010 4:15:25 PM)

LOL

SwampYankee68 -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/28/2010 4:19:55 PM)

Honestly, they're too far along (as we have seen from the the sporadic screen shots and information releases) not to get this one out the door. It's a small company and their first computer game. Patience.

Barthheart -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/28/2010 6:13:29 PM)

Comment from Mark on CSW:

"We are putting up a lot of P500 (another one tomorrow), but about 80% of my time is currently dedicated to WSR, 25% helping Janice ship, 15% on LOF8, 22% on stamping Heroes of Stalingrad bugs, and 6.5% on putting a QA on Op Garbo values, which currently are suffering from home-boy syndrome."

So there's still hope....[8D]

wodin -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/28/2010 8:33:02 PM)

Fingers crossed......the lack of squad level games is a real downer for me...my favourite level for wargaming...when you think of the success that this level has with wargamers i.e ASL, ATS, Conflict of Heroes and Company Commander you'd think there would be more PC games being made.

Why Paradox bought the ASL rights just to sit on them is damn annoying aswell.

Josh -> RE: looking forward to this game (3/28/2010 9:01:25 PM)

22% on stamping Heroes of Stalingrad bugs...

I'd say, a couple of months before going Gold.

Want to bet? My guess is that we'll still be talking about a release date for this game in 2011.

Hehe, no bets, I knew when writing that post, that I'd probably read the same post again in a year or so... and the game still being not published [:D]

Then again, I'm always optimistic. I waited 10 years or so for the sequel to "Hail to the King baby" Duke Nukem, and I'm *still* optimistic about a release... in a couple of years from now LOL.
So yeah, it could be a couple of months... it could be a year, maybe two, maybe never, who knows.
But the screenies look good nevertheless.

Skanvak -> RE: looking forward to this game (4/7/2010 7:14:31 AM)

Where has the LnL forum disappeared to follow the progress of this game?

wodin -> RE: looking forward to this game (4/7/2010 12:06:51 PM)

Either at consim world or boardgamegeek.

Barthheart -> RE: looking forward to this game (4/10/2010 4:02:49 AM)

From the Front page at LnL publishing:

"The Week That Was -April 9th.

We continue to ship ATZ and DEL, thanks to everyone for their patience. We began charging White Star Rising today, and hope to get it to the printers within a week. Ralph and Tom have been working hard on a recalcitrant handful of bugs in the 7th scenario of the Soviet campaign in Heroes of Stalingrad. Mark is putting together the final articles for Line of Fire 8. We are also out of stock on Swift and Bold, Dark July, and Totensonntag. We'll get a P500 up for a reprint ASAP. We are also working art for two new P500 games, Zombie War (formerly known as Zombiegeddon), and the yet-to-be-announced new LnL module. The other stuff keeps moving along also."

(bold is mine)

wodin -> RE: looking forward to this game (4/10/2010 12:12:03 PM)

That sounds better....my hopes are high again.

Josh -> RE: looking forward to this game (4/10/2010 1:49:59 PM)

Ah, thanks for the update, much appreciated.
Good to hear they are still working hard on it.

ham17 -> RE: looking forward to this game (4/10/2010 2:40:35 PM)

Perhaps they were planning to sell it back to a higher bidder?

Proud to say that was me! I was TWTHOMAS then and got kicked for questioning the great Mark and this game. I will probably get kicked again but it sure looks like I was right the first time. I admit I will be first in line to buy this if it ever becomes available but, I currently only check here about once every 6 months because I figure thats about how often Mark speaks to his customers.

I honestly don't know Mark at all but by his game designs he seems to be a brilliant guy, just wished he would be honest and open with his customers. L&L has some of the poorest customer relations I have ever seen in my life.

lparkh -> RE: looking forward to this game (4/15/2010 6:14:14 PM)

Understand where you are coming from. As a recent post explained 80% of his time is elsewhere on boardgame products right now. But two guys are working on the game. Current status is killing bugs in scenaro 7 of soviet campaign.
We willget there I believe.. the only way I don't see it happening is if the AI programming proves too much for them. My guess is 4th qtr this year.. if lucky maybe summer.
