GRUMP

I studied law, after a mathematics teacher got me fed up with maths.

And for two years now, half my work is doing mathematics... and those were particularly heavy today.[:@]

Hire a nearby teenager. They need to know how to earn money doing odd jobs and how difficult it is to move windrowed (plowed) snow/ice. I've seen many a car try to bash through a windrow and lose. Besides, the economy needs services to get up and running. Your $20 will start that teen buying burgers and fries which will mean the restaurant buys potatoes and ground beef and buns and farmers will keep doing their thing. [:)]

EDIT: Oh, wait! That wasn't grumpy ... I hate lazy teenagers! GRUMP! (how was that?).

Here the senior citizens, and youngsters, used to pick berries in the woods during the season and sell to the berries to the companies. Nowdays there seems to be no one (who lives in Sweden) willing to do this. So they hire seasonal workers from abroad to do it. A lot of people have been coming here from as far away as Thailand to pick berries for a month, or two. This is such an issue so that these seasonal workers gets exemptions from the current travel bans...

Grump!

I used to pick wild berries and sell them.

Cindy Crawdord used to de-tassle corn. Shania Twain used to plant trees by hand in the woods. It was not beneath them to do that.

Any more comments delve into the "many blood sucking creatures" subject . . .

GRUMP!

I looked up the weather report for Mona Grudt's hometown. I can't post the name because it will be blocked out. It is a word that has four letters and it is in Norway so it would be 1234.no in Internet terms where the numbers are letters which may repeat.

It was 9 F there right now and it is expecting 8 to 16 inches of snow this weekend. It freezes over every winter so if you say that you are going to do something when that certain place freezes over, it does so every winter and you should have already done what you said that you would do when it freezes over.

OH 1234.NO

GRUMP!GRUMP!

Orm -> RE: The AE Geezer Thread! (2/12/2021 4:29:44 AM)

Grump.

You (all) should know that when I speak of that place I do not refer to a place in Norway. Different places can have the same name.

Grump.

A bit disappointed that the Norwegian place that should not be named is not named after a Goddess whose name it is always safer not to name.

Time for a Geezer update.

On July 1st of 2020 I made the decision to retire early after having just turned 63 on 6/22.

Early retirement comes with a reduced retirement benefit in the good ole USA, but since my house and vehicle are paid for and my overhead is low (well except for the burden of feeding my 10 cats), and my younger brother moved in with me to both reduce his overhead and lend me a hand, I am managing well enough on a third of the income I used to enjoy.

My time now is focused on making a dent in my 150+ model kit collection (working on a diorama of the first lunar landing), playing AE, getting a really serious garden going this year, spending time with my beloved cats and making regular trips to our country dark sky property for stargazing.

Transforming into a full time hobbyist is pure bliss!

RangerJoe -> RE: The AE Geezer Thread! (2/12/2021 11:46:42 AM)

Considering the cost of not going to work, the plus of gardening, and to be able to do things like fishing and such to procure additional food not to mention less of a tax bite, the lower income should not be as bad as some might think.

Not to mention in better times such as spring break, taking a telescope and going to the beach to look at the heavenly bodies . . . [;)]

Does having a Grumpy Cat mouse pad at work up until I retired count?

rustysi -> RE: The AE Geezer Thread! (2/14/2021 4:53:26 AM)

TBH I retired on a bit over half my pay, and with all the deductions that are not coming out of my pay I bring home pretty much what I had been while I was working.

Although now that I'm 65 and eligible for Medicare I have to pay for that again. To the tune of over $200 bucks a month. They say I make too much money. Really?

Grump!!![:D]

GRUMP!!!!

But if you are a war time era US Veteran with an Honorable type discharge, you are eligible for aid and attendance. If you don't get enough money per month after deductions, then you are eligible for a pension.

If you have any kind of service connected disability, then the disability pay is not taxed - that includes hearing loss.

GRUMP!!!!

But then you have to live with said disability.

How about walking on bone spurs? How about a bad back? Hip problems?

No to mention missing appendages, eyes, teeth, deafness or many other things.

Besides any mental health issues. Even with no obvious physical problems, they may be there.

I bet a lot of people would rather not have those issues than have them.

Then think of their spouses and immediate family members. What affect those problems have on them. What if their other family members can't understand and just don't give a fecal matter deposit?

GRUMP!!!!

Well, it started out as an anti-high blood pressure pill so it still has that action. But a certain side effect was noted and now it is marketed as a quality of life drug. Then priced accordingly . . .

I have to wake up, get up, and go to my work-place to fill in for a colleague who took some time off with his kids.

We’re already understaffed (8 out of 11), and some people find it normal to take a vacation.

And when He does, He will be GRUMPY !!!
