Flav your like my wife, you have to get the last word in ...lol...Your welcome to comment, but stay on subject...I tried not to be rude but I can be a hot head...More (ss) to follow...Lets just get in the flow of this AAR, and post adverse comments on another threads. Fair enought?... S&T here only please...

roman uk -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/12/2010 9:46:11 AM)

PyleDriver,

Could you post a losses screen (its been a while)? I would be curious how the soviets stand after being mauled by AGC in front of, and behind, Moscow.

Thanks

PyleDriver -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/12/2010 10:03:57 AM)

Here you go...

wodin -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/12/2010 1:03:12 PM)

I'm enjoying the AAR....the game is ALPHA not even BETA and it looks good to me...however I'm novice and damn glad I am one aswell because that means I don't need a super AI that plays a demon...most AI's beat me and this one looks like it will add to the list.

Also this AAR is really on here for us to enjoy...I expect the detailed report will go to Joel and Gary....otherwise there wouldn't be constant AI updates the testers are getting.

I'm really not viewing this as the final product I'm viewing this as a work in progress that is being shown to me so I can get a general feel for the game.

ComradeP -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/12/2010 1:20:35 PM)

Criticism of the AI is certainly justifiable, but as PyleDriver has indicated: this thread is his parade, so if we are to have a debate about the AI, we should revive the thread about the AI from 1.5 months ago.

roman uk -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/12/2010 1:44:37 PM)

Does that make the present Soviet OOB approx 4.5 million men, and 4.5k afv to german 3million and 3k?

The supply lines to the moscow area for AGC are a lot shorter than to stalingrad and grozny for army group A+B. logistics nightmare contributed greatly to slowing the german advance in the caucasus.
Likewise, the front line in Pyledriver's AAR is a lot shorter than the historical frontline in november 42.

PyleDriver -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/13/2010 5:18:54 AM)

OKH has new orders issued, take Moscow and go on the defense. The Soviets hit in seven areas hard as their armor is coming through everwhere...Leningrad was the worst, Rostov, Kleist and Model also...More ss's soon...

Neal_MLC -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/13/2010 6:43:35 AM)

I said it first... watch your flanks[:-][:D]

SGHunt -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/13/2010 10:48:44 AM)

Jon

Now we really do need some level 4 screenies - North, Centre and South. We knew it was coming - those armour reserves were out there somewhere.

Whilst alarming and no doubt painful, the key question for me is 'are these multiple attacks going to stop you taking Moscow?' Answer, probably not, I guess. So good, hit back where you can (Kleist?), retreat where you must (probably in front of Leningrad? Can you hold Rostov?), but squeeze the life out of Moscow. I'm really keen to see the impact this has on the Russians.

Good luck. (Oh, and will there be blizzards?)
S

janh -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/13/2010 11:36:33 AM)

Looking at the numerical losses for 1942 I would say the Russian back is thoroughly broken. If they commit their armor now to offensive moves, you should be able to seal them off effectively since he must by now me pretty down to the bottom of the barrel for infantry support. Armor advancing with little or no infantry supporting flanks and rear will be likely.

However, this doesn't make this AAR any less interesting. I actually would like to see whether the Russian can build up forces again in winter and spring, and how your 1943 summer offensive would go. It should bring about some very huge and interesting tank battles in the center.

BTW, when does Totenkopf reappear? Will it have the equipment you upgraded it to, or could it come back worse? Do you have the ability to form and rearrange units to new corps, i.e build your own I. SS Panzerkorps from other formations? Also, can you edit savegames with the editor if you want to change arrival and withdrawal dates, or mess with production?

PyleDriver -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/13/2010 2:16:30 PM)

(BAR)...Two rifle corps and a Mech corps advanced toward Kleist after hitting a MzD ...

Not exactly operation Uranus, but very cool. [8D]

PyleDriver -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/14/2010 7:04:11 AM)

Halder was contacted by his Army commanders saying things wern't that bad. Rostov and Leningrad fronts are secure. Hoth is still asking to press deeper and put a hurt on ...After Kleists counter he turned west across the Bityug River. Kleist moved his army north after the line was rolled...Hum alot can still happen...My RR repair is at the arrow now...

SGHunt -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/14/2010 8:53:58 PM)

Hmm, some spearhead but now where?   The Russians seem to have finally got some sort of parity with Kleist in front of the Moksha river.

As for the lack of a screenie of what's happening around Moscow, that's just plain mean![image]http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/image/s4.gif[/image]

Jon, we all know that you are really busy trying to keep your wife and us here in the forum happy. But could you please give us a ss where we can see nearly the whole frontline to see how you are doing?.

Thanks in advance.

Mat

(DAR) 3rd PzA and 4th A have started the attacks on Moscow, It looks to be hard fighting ahead... Model took some counters last week and had to send 2nd PzD to the rear for refit... More trucks are coming from the south as supply is harder to move in snow...

Sorry for the delay in this AAR guys, I hurt my back last week, it's still not healed...

You'll soon have three armies to spare for reserve duty, and to bolster your offensives in the Rostov and Leningrad AOPs. This is going to be a very interesting winter, and much more interesting summer 1943.

wiking62 -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/17/2010 12:41:16 PM)

Glad to see you are back in the saddle with your AAR Jon. Hope your back improves soon.

SGHunt -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/17/2010 8:07:38 PM)

...and a second pocket forming to the NE of Moscow!   Looks like you have done enough damage to win the game from here?   (Especially as the threats to the North and South have been contained.)

I'm surprised how little there is that's in a position to support Moscow, especially in terms of armour, compared to what's in front of Kleist.  Surely the programme sees Moscow as the highest priority for a relief operation?   Or are we still waiting for the victory conditions to be built that would drive such an imperative for the AI?

PyleDriver -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/18/2010 3:50:20 AM)

(BAR) The threat near Leningrad opened up as the Soviets put a big hurt on 18th Army...

(DAR) Armin's PzC (2 PzD's, 1 MzD and a MzB) pulled from the line and was ordered north to help stem the tide...

PyleDriver -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/18/2010 4:07:04 AM)

(AAR) The Moscow pocket became smaller as the attack continues. Hoth pressed more units across the Klyazma River...Kleist rested his PzA this week...

Armin has proved to be quite the fire brigade.

And so, it will be Christmas in the Kremlin after all... is 'the Boss' still there do you think?

Well played, Jon

janh -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/18/2010 10:09:09 AM)

Beautiful execution. Wouldn't it be time to conclude offensive moves for the winter in the eastern part of Moscow and reorient major parts of the mobile forces to the south? I would suggest to place near Voronesh in readiness by spring, and repeat the "Kleist maneuver" up the flank with just a little more maneuvering depth, say aiming for the rail lines that connect Gorky to the Rostov/Stalingrad. That way you may break open the Rostov front, and may even get a chance to deploy some of your force towards Stalingrad if the Russian Southern Front crumbles. You should keep this AAR alive well into 1943, it is really exciting.

The SNAFU -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/18/2010 3:43:46 PM)

Moscow has been hopelessly surrounded and the front pushed well East. Unless I missed something the question of where the Soviet armored reserves are has not been answered. Does the armor exist? If not what happened to it and if it does exist, same question, what happened to it?

SNorth -> RE: OKH Plan 1942 - Alpha AAR (6/18/2010 11:28:36 PM)

Personally, I regard Leningrad as a major thorn in Pyledriver's side. That would be my next target.
