Ramon, a well executed battle! Congratulations! This puts a big D for Delay under every Allied plan of advance.

Time to recapture Guadalcanal, no? [:D]

Insano -> RE: Huge air naval battle at salomons (4/3/2011 11:41:20 AM)

Ramón you have truly brought great glory to the empire. Good luck hunting down and destroying the survivors as they flee in terror. Your own air losses seemed extremely light for such a large air battle. Too bad about Chiyoda though - an extremely useful ship.

LoBaron, thank you very much.
Yes, It will be time to recapture the Guadalcanal Island. 1st USMC Division have been trapped there. Now I have landed three IJA crack Divisions (1st, 9th and 14th under II Army HQ). He will have severe problems to evacuate the island with a massive air supperiority in the area. Yamamoto have take direct command of IJN air ops in the area with more than 400 IJNAF land based aircraft and another 400 on the decks.

Best wishes
Ramón

Insano, thanks for posting.

I will try to get the fourth (in revenge for RL Midway [:D]). My air losses were heavy...140 aircrafts were downed by fighters and Flak and sunk with Taiyo. Chiyoda was expendable, and she was part of Ozawa "Bait" Force at Lunga Point with 2 CVEs (Taiyo-Unyo) to get atention from enemy carriers. I hoped to lost all of them!.

Chiyoda will be releaved at 2nd Cruiser Division by CS Nisshin.

Best wishes.
Ramón

What a blow, what a battle. Wish I could have seen the reply !!!
Congratulations [&o]

Fletcher -> RE: Huge air naval battle at salomons (4/4/2011 2:12:01 PM)

Thank you very much !

It was exciting! ... several LBA wave after wave followed by carrier based striking groups with B5N2 escorted by A6M2 from the carriers. His air defenses collapsed with more than 700 japanese aircrafts over enemy fleet....I.Yamamoto took command of 11st Air Fleet at Munda to coordinate strikes with "Bait Force" under Ozawa at Lunga Point awaiting the enemy push...

Best wishes, thank you very much

Two armored bons and one seebee units? It will be difficult !!! Marines are CRACK troops, and, on my experience, they can hold more than you can expect...

Fletcher -> RE: Huge air naval battle at salomons (4/13/2011 12:53:16 AM)

traskott,
we will see when they will be plummbed by my 18" naval gun fire before be stormed by wave after wave of crack IJA forces....
they will be out of supplies in several days, I´m pretty sure about that. When they will be isolated, and blocked by sea and air we will test their skill [:D] !
Best wishes
Ramón

PaxMondo -> RE: Huge air naval battle at salomons (4/13/2011 1:16:18 AM)

3 Tank BN's ... those are what would concern me.  IJ forces are so weak in anti-tank weapons.

Good Luck Ramon!

Watching with interest

Durbik -> RE: Huge air naval battle at salomons (4/13/2011 7:30:42 AM)

Indeed - don't you have any of those RF battalions handy somewhere nearby, Ramon?

Fletcher -> RE: Huge air naval battle at salomons (4/13/2011 9:19:23 AM)

Durbik,

One of them is ready at Tulagi, but I would like to be sure about air superiority before I ship it to Lunga.

PaxMondo,

My two divisions and 2 I.Rs at Lunga have 47 AT guns. If enemy armoured units are fullfilled with Lees and Stuart, those not be a great headache. For the other hand 1 Tank Regiment and 1 Independent Tank Coy will be shipped soon to reinforce II Army.
However in their attack USMC lost 25 AFVs.

Thanks both of you for comments.
best wishes
Ramón

Fletcher -> RE: Huge air naval battle at salomons (4/13/2011 8:06:11 PM)

FROM: ADM. ISOROKU YAMAMOTO, COMBINED FLEET, ADVANCED HEADQUARTER AT MUNDA. SALOMON ISLANDS.
TO: ADM. HUSIMI NAGANO. IJN GENERAL STAFF CHIEF. IGHQ. SUPREME WAR COUNCIL. TOKYO
SUBJECT: MIDWAY PLAN
DATE: OCTOBER 17TH, 1942

With absolute naval superiority over the enemy after the sinking of 4 enemy carriers in the battle of Southern Salomons, we are in a must to take the offense to gain more time to the enemy and his will to fight.

Midway is a big option.. this island is probably used like advanced submarine base, it´s 1.200 nm far away from Pearl Harbor, and enemy will not have any carrier to face us.

Our air recon missions from Wake Island with a detachment with the new flying boats H8K1 have reported 3.500 USMC troops defendind good positions, 5 fighters, 5 bombers and 5 auxiliar planes at airstrips with 5 unidentified ships docked at yard, probably auxiliar or tenders.

Our Order of Battle would be:

-Landing Force with 01 I.M.B. from IJA (Midway Island), 01 SNLF from IJN (Kure Island), 01 IJNAF Coy and several support units (Arty, armoured if available).

-"Nishimura" Support Group with BatDiv 2 & 3 to support landings with heavy naval gunfire and cover any surface threat. With the support of 15 and 18inch guns our assault will be a quick success.

-"Naguno" with Striking Group and "Tanaka" with Mobile Force will come to the battle area from the south to intercept any enemy surface TF. Air Superiority will be gained in two days after massive air strikes from our carrier based dive bombers.

Several special "reconoissance" submarines will departure in few days from Marshalls to report enemy activities at Midway-Kure Island.

Main Goodness of MO operation: The enemy will not use Midway like an advanced submarine base and their boats must to travel 2.000 nm more than usual to get Imperial Waters. If they try the Northern Option, we will be ready for a "Secondary landing Ops" in this area too.

Long Live to the EMPEROR !!!
