did you solve the problem Maartern or JocMeister? I sue windows 7, java 8 and have exactly the same issue with calendar as shown by JocMeister screen. I checked it does not show up below other screens. It simply gives me error. I tried to manually open the file with txt editor and insert the date there, but still same error :(

bpstalker -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (2/23/2016 9:37:56 AM)

to solve the calendar issue change the time format on your PC to US version. After that you will be able to install it.

Is there a way to make the calendar work without having to set the time format to US version?

I am asking because I would prefer to use my natural version and I am not to keen on the US format

What in the world would have caused this error? I've tried several different Java versions. Same error message I believe.

EDIT: Never mind. I installed the very latest version of 64-bit Java and it's working now. Great tool.

I created an icon for my copy of Combat Reporter and wanted to share. A .zip file with an .ico file for Combat Reporter, as well as Tracker, is attached.

Thanks for this addition, it's a boon for us new players. I'm not all that computer literate, how do you attach a new *.ico file to your
executable when it's started by a batch file? There's this problem for both executables, combat repiorter and tracker both.

Korvar -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (9/19/2016 12:01:20 AM)

First, download the attached .zip file to a place on your computer where you can easily find it and extract the .ico files.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where you've installed Combat Reporter.

Right-click the 'combatreport.bat' and click on the 'Create shortcut' option as circled here:

[image]http://i.imgur.com/MkhnJ2f.png[/image]

Once you've created the shortcut, right-click it just like you did the .bat file, but this time click the 'Properties' option. In the 'Properties' window, click the 'Change Icon' button as shown here:

[image]http://i.imgur.com/8IuY4jH.png[/image]

This part has a few steps for actually changing the icon image of the shortcut.

Step 1: click on the 'Browse' button and find the folder where you previously downloaded and extracted the .ico files.

Step 2: the icon files should appear here; click on the appropriate icon to highlight it in blue.

Step 3: click the 'OK' button.

You should now have a new icon for your Combat Reporter shortcut! You can do the same for Tracker, if you wish. The shortcut can be moved to wherever is convenient for you - the desktop, start menu, etc. I like to keep mine pinned to the start menu (FYI, right-click the shortcut and the option to do this is there) next to the WitPAE shortcut, so all the tools can be easily started with WitPAE.

Just downloaded and set-up CR for the first time. [&o] This is a great tool. Thanks for all the work.

Schorsch -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (9/21/2016 3:19:21 AM)

hi, what do i have to do if my map is not in the standart /ART but in /MODS/ART folder?

Is there not a way to show CR where the map art is by browsing? I seem to remember something I browsed
for to point it out to CR.

Schorsch -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (9/21/2016 3:53:55 AM)

nvm, it somehow worked after restarting...

Major Shane -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (10/2/2016 1:52:26 PM)

I downloaded and installed CR last week. I've been playing this game for 5 years...wow I didn't know what I was missing.CR has really assisted my planning and preparation.

I am using Windows 10, stock map, Scenario #7, Allies vs AI.

The only glitch I have found is ships that are listed as arriving in Portland. When I click that, the map goes to Portland, Australia instead of Portland, USA.

fulcrum28 -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (1/18/2017 1:51:31 PM)

i cant see the map, the developer wrote, the patch 3 is necessary for the map, which is the patch 3? i have updated the witp ae with latest patch 1.71 as far as i know..
it is great tool, i wish i could see the map too!
:)

Help ?[&:]

thx

MakeeLearn -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (4/27/2017 12:15:36 AM)

Lately Combat Reporter hangs at loading the map if I have ran it a couple of times. After reboot it runs normally.

gRaider2001 -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (5/14/2017 10:39:24 PM)

Has anybody been able to get this to work in Linux?

rsallen64 -> RE: Combat Reporter Beta (10/16/2017 5:45:24 PM)

I seem to have a problem getting the program to show reports. It runs fine and the window comes up with the map, etc., and I have it set to the first turn I ran, as indicated. I am now on December 12, 1941, but it still won't show any reports, period. I have reinstalled it several times, and done the same with java, and no luck. Tracker works fine and as expected, but I just can't get reports with this program. I am running Windows 10, and WITP-AE is working great. I am not getting any error messages from Combat Reporter, just no reports. I am also running DBB-lite, with no extended map. Any suggestions?

You need to make sure you are using the -archive command line switch and that you point to the archive
directory of your game.

rsallen64 -> RE: Combat Reporter Beta (10/17/2017 3:29:39 AM)

Thanks, BillBrown! That did the trick. Combat Reporter up and running.

MoonLight -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (5/14/2018 7:56:50 AM)

Hi, I installed latest version Combat Reporter but now I have problem running it.
My Java version is jdk 8u172. My Combat Reporter ran very well in the past (maybe months ago, I don't remember), but now it runs with errors.
The screenshot of error:

It is possible that Java is an old minor version of Java 8(I'm sure it's Java 8) when Combat Reporter ran normally at past.

I just got it working in Linux today. However, not with Java 8 and 64 bit, only 32 bit, but it seems to work OK. I use this Java version: jre-6u45-windows-i586 (d/led from Oracle), and I found the old 32 bit Combat Report here: https://sites.google.com/site/n01487477/

But I have a stupid question. How do I update the base.csv that comes with Combat Reporter to use the bases from DBB-028, extended map? I must be having a senior moment. [&:]

larryfulkerson -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (3/1/2019 8:34:53 PM)

I downloaded the latest version of CombatReporter just now and adjusted the properties to fit my situation:

watchDir='C:\\Matrix Games\\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\\SAVE\\archive'
side='j'
startIntervalDate='09/21/2017 07:00 AM'
watchIntervalSecs=120
witpDir='C:\\Matrix Games\\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition'

and then fired up CombatReporter.bat and got this error message and I'm
fresh out of good ideas to fix it. I need a fresh pair of eyes I guess.

BillBrown -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (3/1/2019 10:09:42 PM)

Read what the error says. It does not like the double \\ in the file name strings.

The first \\ is OK because that tells it to start in the root directory, the
other ones are confusing it.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (3/2/2019 4:27:36 AM)

Here's the contents of the properties file. I haven't changed a thing:

watchDir='C:\\Matrix Games\\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\\SAVE\\archive'
side='j'
startIntervalDate='09/21/2017 07:00 AM'
watchIntervalSecs=120
witpDir='C:\\Matrix Games\\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition'

Are you suggesting that I change it? Really?

larryfulkerson -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (3/2/2019 4:30:34 AM)

Here's what happens if I change it:

Alfred -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (3/2/2019 5:12:51 AM)

Of course it still doesn't work.  You have not followed BillBrown's instructions of post #265.

These command lines follow DOS syntax.

BillBrown -> RE: Combat Reporter - report monitoring tool (3/2/2019 12:19:31 PM)

To be honest Larry, I am not entirely sure what your problem is, I am only going by the error message present in your screen shots.
This is my properties file and the only real difference I see is that I used " and you used ' around your file names.

watchDir="D:\\War in the Pacfic Admirals Edition\\PBEM Rick BtSL\\SAVE\\archive"
startIntervalDate="02/21/2019 10:54 AM"
watchIntervalSecs=60
side="a"
witpDir="D:\\War in the Pacfic Admirals Edition\\PBEM Rick BtSL"

I'll try that thanks.

EDIT: That's what it wanted. Thank you very much.
