bigred -> RE: 44-1-11 (6/14/2012 8:39:04 PM)

Prome was abandoned by IJA and i made an air drop and took the hex. I also dropped at Mekiala but seems my ground reinforcements did not come to support of the airborne troops.

If the 268th motor moves fast then...

bigred -> RE: 44-1-11 (6/14/2012 8:59:12 PM)

New turn: Possibility FatR has stayed too long in the Irrawaddy valley. He is on the verge of being surrounded. Taung Gyi and Metila fell this turn. That AR Div at magwe railed to Toung goo faster than the 268th could move across the irrawaddy to block the rail move.

bigred -> RE: 44-1-11 (6/16/2012 7:22:34 AM)

Intel reports IJA 33rd div is loading at Singers. CV TFs /w AOs spotted at Vic point. looks like assembly point for large rescue or evac mission at Rangoon.

This turn I slipped about 10000 supply into rangoon for the AUS/marines. Probably was a mistake as I expect FatR to kill three APAs next turn.

250000 IJA troops on the hook in Burma. I would bet the 90000 at magwe and the 60000 at toung goo will not get out. If FatR picks up the rangoon garrison they will fight another day. Now I think if he reinforces rangoon all his stuff is going to get destroyed. This is a hell of a fight. Did not think I would be crushing the burma army so easy.

Nemo was right on target when he talked about bombing a jap position for a week w/ 500 DBs. I had to use b24s instead. I note every time the japs retreat my air power follows the retreated units to the new hex on the 2nd day ground attack missions. After the game when FtR reads this i want to know if the abortive para drop at mikalia had any effect on the movement of units located in the drop hex.

Nav Search reported transports in the bismarck sea. A DD flotilla w/ alot of minor damage was tasked to patrol the pass between NG and N Britain.

5. 4xAPAs used in the resupply of Rangoon sunk.
6. IJN sub operation in bay of bengal greatly intensified w/ some success.
CentPac:
7. Amphib at Nauru island in progress and proceeding as planned.

bigred -> RE: 44-1-13 (6/25/2012 2:34:31 AM)

Allies captured Magwe. But I allowed 50000 IJA to retreat. I thought I had an eng unit moving into the hex NW of Magwe. It was ordered to Prome and was listed as moving W then after I took Magwe it turned SW into Magwe allowing the army to retreat.

bigred -> RE: 44-1-13 (6/25/2012 2:37:43 AM)

The Japs retreated me out of Rangoon. My offensive may be stalled w/ the possibility of retreat back to Magwe/Mandalay. Looks like the Jap divisions took about an 80av hair cut each. Should be interesting. Hope he comes out to play.(away from the KB).

bigred -> RE: 44-1-22 (7/2/2012 12:04:02 PM)

FatR told me the VP cost to take Magwe/Mandalay was worth my expense. In 1945 the japs get an auto victory if He can maintain a 2-1.

Alot of jap movement on the burma road . Seems FatR may try a counterattack into burma from China. So i figure to bomb his airfields w/ the 14th airforce before they arrive.

This was a blow out. FatR has saved the day at Rangoon. Oddly, these allied troops did not retreat up the main road to toung gou but instead retreated into the woods to the NE of Rangoon, which is a strange blessing.

When a LCU retreats in a two day turn the attacking airpower on ground support follow the retreated units next day to the new location. In this case the fighter escort did not go w/ the bombers which ran into a p47 cap trap. A blessing.
