Some of you will surely be saying - "Haven't I seen this before?". Well, the answer would be yes. I started an AAR with the same theme a couple of years ago, but used all Detailed Battles. I was unhappy with the results, so decided to let it die. I also tried it on the AGEOD engine, but my computer died and I lost all my results. So...here I am again. This time I have decided to try matching up against the AI using exclusively Quick Combat for my results. Terje cautioned me that the South would hold up initially, but the overwhelming manpower of the North would eventually win over. So, I considered a scenario that all us true southern rednecks dream about. [;)] One where events changed giving the South a chance to win the war. Basically, I have created an ahistorical story line, where politically things took a different turn, and the South woke up. It will result in economic as well as population growth for the South, so that when the War comes the South will be better prepared to take on the Yankees. Personally, I don't know how it's gonna turn out. I have not tried this before. Perhaps it will turn out worse. Well...I don't know how it could turned out worse. Just kidding.[;)] Let me share a funny story with you before I shut up and let you read the AAR. I am from Lynchburg, Virginia, about twenty miles west of Appomatox, where the War ended. Two years ago, my wife and I visited the Gettysburg Battlefield in Pennsylvania. I did not know that the weekend we chose to go was the same weekend for a motorcycle rally in Gettysburg. I told my wife afterwards, who would have thought 150 years later that you could visit Gettysburg and see more Rebel flags than American flags.[:D]
