Blind Sniper -> Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (8/31/2010 7:40:07 PM)

Ok, first AAR here.
The best way to play this game is against an human opponent therefore I and Barthhearth play the Case Yellow scenario, he is the evil German [:)]

Never played this scenario before and since first time is always the better I don't want to see the enemy force [:D]

Surely he is more stronger than me but I will learn a lot at least.

German First Turn

Clear weather turn

Events:
Airborne landing in Eben-Emael
Bombardment on Dutch cities, base morale -10 points (I already said he is an evil player...[:D])

Losses so far.

As the allied player you at least won't get completely surprised when all those angry panzers come at you through the "impenetrable" Ardennes.

Don't forget your Dyle Plan points (assuming you haven't played the card to cancel it).

What?!? Impossible! [:D]

No possible to play it in the early turns. Anyhow it is my big concern.

No more post because we are checking which is the correct way to count the Dyle points. More info later....

Blind Sniper -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/2/2010 9:31:03 AM)

Ok, now is clear how to count them (thanks to Barthheart and Vic).
Therefore if you want to play this scenario is important to know how it works:

hex with Dyle point score = total powerpoints * dylepoint score
This is added up for the whole map and divided by 100.

You can freely stack your units if you want to.

Example in the picture below:

hex 52:34, two units with 120 powerpoints * 3 dylepoints score = 360
hex 52:35, one unit with 60 powerpoints * 3 dylepoints score = 180
Dyle whole map points: 540/100 = 5.4 (Total 5)

It seems that does not count the Artillery units, I don't know HQs and ENGs.
Now I'm going to play my turn, more check later.

Blind Sniper -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/2/2010 10:46:12 AM)

France

Command and Control level 65%
It is very low but I have another big problem first...the Dyle Plan.
We know it is bad but we have to follow it otherwise the Belgian and Dutch morale will decrease and they could be surrender.

Therefore I will try to play the "Cancel Dyle Plan" card when it will cost less points.

General Strategies:
Change immediately airfields to all aircrafts;
Holland, is not worth to use too many units trying to defence it;
try to keep open a land route to Paris;
try to improve the general command and control;
try to delay the Belgian and Dutch Capitulation.

No PP points spent.

7th Army is going to Antwerpen and Brussel
1st Army is going to Namur and Liege
9th Army is going to crate a defence line between Namur and Montherme
2nd Army is holding the line behind the Meuse

I have discovered his spearhead near Bastogne, a lot of tanks!

British

Command and Control level 80%

All BEF will follow the Dyle Plan initially, it will be my mobile force to use as counterattack force.

I made some air attack but his AA made a good job.

Blind Sniper -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/2/2010 11:41:56 AM)

Belgium

Command and Control level 60%

I have 81 Dyle points so far, I need 50 in this turn and in the next I will need 100.

I'm trying to consolidate my defensive positions and I made a successful attack against Witz's paratroopers [:D]

Netherlands

Command and Control level 60%

No easy situation...I will try to inundate the territory when I will get the points.
At the moment I'm withdrawing my troops trying to destroy bridges...

Don't forget, if (when) Holland surrenders your entire north flank will be open.

Right, I'm thinking to use the 7th French Army for that...we will see how hard he will push my defensive lines.

France 2nd turn

Nothing so important to point out, I'm continuing to create a defensive line in the Ardennes.

All my divisions are in the Dyle points area, now I'm getting close to 200 cap.

I made an air attack against his 5th Panzer division, two infantry squads less...

Belgium 2nd turn

This time the low Command and Control hurt me a lot, I cannot move three important Corps and Liege is already in trouble, I have about three turns before to be out of supply...next turn I need my Cavalry Corp free to move.

Again few units that I can move and he is pushing hard.
I made an artillery attack against SS bad guys but no losses...

Franck -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/3/2010 11:00:08 PM)

I'm sorry, but could I ask what the command and control affect?

boshar -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/4/2010 12:39:17 PM)

Lower command and control percentages increase the chance that 1 or more Army Corps (HQs) loose action points. Without those action points you can't move or attack.

France 3rd turn

Clear weather turn

Command and Control level 65%

Kleist's Armygroup is coming!!! My defence near Ardennes area will be hit hard in the next turn.
I have three division and several tanks units in reserve but I don't htnk they will bw enough.

Julien Francois Martin has some problems to understand how the Blitzkriekg works, his Corps (XI) suffer 50% offensive malus but fortunately is far from first line.

The BEF high mobility is very useful, the I Corp is already in position and I want to hit his units that are moving without good protection.
Next turn the fighting around Liege will be more intensive.

A lot of problems here, I have suffered heavy losses and I don't have units able to stop the enemy.
I'm hoping to have enough time for the "Waterline" card, I need two more turns...

sprior -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/5/2010 6:30:28 PM)

I see in the Belgian tirn he's leading with his engineers. The reason they are out in front is because they're motorised so move further than the infantry. They're also the only ones who can rebuild bridges and if for that reason alone are always worth picking off when he leaves them exposed like that.

Blind Sniper -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/5/2010 7:19:04 PM)

You are right and I tryed to do it, look the picture below.

Inside the red circle there is a German Eng unit and I made an attack against it but without success [:(]

06 Maestro -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/7/2010 6:24:29 PM)

It looks like your opponent has been a little on the cautious side. Your line is solid at Sedan-unless the German player has some new tricks up his sleeve I think you got him beat.
Thanks for doing the AAR.

Josh -> RE: Case Yellow: Barthheart (German) vs Blind Sniper (Allied) (9/7/2010 7:42:27 PM)

Nah I don't think Bartheart can be considered beaten yet, much too cunning a player.
His next moves will even surprise the Führer. I think. LOL.

Really? I think he is in good shape given that the German units are simply unstoppable.
Look my previous post, a cavarly brigade lost the combat against a simply Eng unit. I'm playing another PBeM game as German (Bzura) and I'm winning almost every combat.
Yes, I don't start a combat without a little of preparation...

Thanks to you, I'm glad that someone like what I'm writing [:)]

I just seen the replay, I don't know his options but the landing behind my lines was clear. Bye bye dear Allied [:'(]

Ok, the German units are very close, in the next turn three/four French units will be hit hard at least.
He can break my defence because he has enough artillery and aircrafts to destroy one/two units per turn, therefore my objectives will be very easy: fighting withdrawal and trying to cut his supply lines.

British 4th turn

All British Corps are close to their final destination, I changed my mind about III Corp, it will go to Beaumont and Chimay as support for French force.
Liege is falling in the enemy hands, he played a good card to achieve his aim.

Belgium 4th turn

Command and Control level 60%

8 PP points spent: I played the "Raise Division" card.
My other option was "Command & Control" but I prefer a new unit rather than more mobility, all my units are in the chosen position.

Losses 13%

A brand new division (21st) appears in Leuven but has been assigned to Cavarly HQ overload his command. I switched it to I Corp HQ.

I made some attacks pushing back two German units.

He made a good move with his airdrop on Dordrecht, this land cut the III Corp supply line. Now I have to reopen it hoping to destroy his paratroopers before other German units rush to help them.

Sorry, problem at work and other games ongoing have reduced my free time, therefore no more time to update this AAR, I really hope my opponents can keep alive his own.

Anyhow Netherlands surrender and I have some problem to stop his Panzer divisions.
I need all my troops around Paris now [:'(]
