Well, I am officially employed again. No immediate move required, but a good bit more travel than previously. Looking forward to it actually. New challenges.

Thanks for your good thoughts, guys. Wish I could package up a job for T and send it to him.

Great news, Brother Mynok! [8D]

Treetop64 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/4/2011 5:41:42 PM)

Morning All.

Contrary to Apollo11, I woke up today to grey skies and rain - for the first time since spring.

I love the rainy weather here, it's so cute.  Many of these Californicators have no idea how bad a rain storm can be.

We have another nice new flaming thread in main forum...

Where? I couldn't find it....[&:]

Doolittle...

Leo "Apollo11"

I almost posted again to it, but Mynok is right as usual about this kind of scenario. You keep feeding the Troll and putting the diseased Thread up at the top of the page, your only doing the Devil's work irregardless of what you write. Since it's neither been moved or locked we should be seeing our other long term troll pitching in soon. Its a shame in a way. The subject of the Japanese military and it's actions during the war are of interest to me in that i seek to better understand the causes and factors. With the Soviets and Germans, its more straightforward, but the Japanese situation is a bit more complex in some ways, in other ways there is a similar simplicity. I've been reading "Knights of Bushido" by Lord Russel of Liverpool. It is not an easy read and is a bit too judgemental in places but was valuable in giving me an additional insight. Here though, due to said trolls and in general immature behavior, hatreds and other angsts.....such a thread cannot possibly be kept neutral and civil. It requires a much more heavily moderated forum that actively weeds out trolls and disciplines people who's emotions get out of hand. A 'games' forum is not up to it as we have seen hundreds of times.

awesome news. That was fast.

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/4/2011 7:33:07 PM)

Just received "The Naval War in the Mediterranean 1940-1943" today. Simon wasn't kidding when he complained about the printing quality. Yikes!

Nikademus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/4/2011 7:58:48 PM)

By Green and Massignani? Good book though.

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/4/2011 8:17:03 PM)

No doubt about it. The physical side of it is not very impressive, though.

Nikademus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/4/2011 8:28:54 PM)

i'm hoping it will be Kindle-lized soon. My old copy is history but it was getting pretty decrepid anyway, being a paperback.

Quite fast, though I confess to having started working the angle a month ago or so. Could see the blade rising on the guillotine so to speak.

You did a better job of it than I did, when they were preparing to swing the hatchet at my old job. [:D]

CB is going to be in town for a "quickie."  [:D]

Just got back. Thanks to USS Mike for a pleasant dinner with him, his lovely wife and his niece. It was very nice meeting 'em all.

@Steve-it really didn't take him much time to divulge the secret location of the rebel base. A couple of pints of Red Oak had him blabbing in no time.

Sorry mate. It was an overnight trip. I was in town less than 20 hours and available socially for about 1.5. It would have been cool to see you, but that'll just have to give me an excuse to make a real trip out yonder soon. [8D]

Ooh...I know (holds up hand)-some guesses?

1. Mrs. Dixie will be providing you another bundle of joy?
2. You've been put in charge of another work party?
3. You've won the Nigerian lottery?
4. Your cricket/rugby/non-American football team will do something noteworthy?
