You don't like even the combat scenes in "The Thin Red Line" Kristian?

Are there any? In my view, they drowned in an avalanche of atrocious acting.

I dunno. Watching Sean Penn get shot in the ass is always worth the price of admission.

I'd pay more to see him shot in the head! [:D]

Seriously...think about it...I'd give $100 of my money to his cockeyed charity of choice if I could watch him get shot in the ass. He could fill a stadium and get nearly a million dollars for his charity of choice. Maybe he should put his ass where his mouth is. Erm...on second thought...[:D]

As his head is generally up his @$$ , we could both get our wish with the same shot! And I'd pay $1,000.00 if I could be the one to shoot him there. [:D]

I suspect they are not. As I have never met any big time actors I couldn't really care about any of them one way or the other

When they were making Armageddon I was out at lunch pad at Kennedy Space Center supporting payload to orbiter electrical mates. We left the payload changeout room which is up on the 135 foot level. Crossing from the Rotating Service Structure back to the Fixed Service Structure we look down and there are Bruce Willis and Ben Afleck sitting on director's chairs on the 0 deck level of the Mobile Launch Platform.

Bruce you must have loved the realism of the "Armageddon"... [:D]

BTW, I watched "Armageddon" and considered it just another summer blockbuster with tons of special effects - the movie you watch and forget - on the other hand I proffered the "Deep Impact" - it was much deeper movie...

Oh there are... shame on you...

BTW, I have read the boo first (both in Croatian and English several times before the movie was made - for me it is truly beautiful, moving and great anti-war war movie that greatly conveys the original authors idea from the book)! [:)]

Apollo11 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/15/2011 12:23:55 PM)

Hi all,

Darn... darn... darn... [:(][:@]

Something just wiped out whole PC of one of my users... it passed through Linux Proxy and Firewall (no computer is visible from outside - i.e. nobody is directly connected to Internet) and pass the AntiVirus...

Serious stuff...

The thing then moved partial content of user data files and it dumped it on shared network drive (and made those files "Hidden" and "System")... everything else was then erased (or again made "Hidden" and "System")...

I noticed something was wrong by sudden high rise in network traffic and network drive usage but it was so quick that by the time I reached user on another floor it was all over...

This is by far the most dangerous "thing" I saw at work in past 10-15 years that I do what I do (i.e. as System Administrator)...

Leo "Apollo11"

Apollo11 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/15/2011 1:32:15 PM)

Hi all,

It was "Push" from the Internet...

I managed to recognize the "thing" - it is the variation of "Fake AV" - but with the twist - AFAIK the "Fake AV" never changed the attributes on files nor it moved the files around network...

BTW, it also appears to be brand new - very very few AntiVirus engines are recognizing it right now...

Two EXEs are involved - the initial seed and the "thing" itself...

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (11/15/2011 1:34:56 PM)

Do you think it was a virus or a person, and if it was a person, was it from the outside or inside?

Edit: Forget it. I'm really slow when it comes to this stuff. I finally figured it out. [sm=dizzy.gif]

Thanks for the heads up, Leo! I've received a couple of spam emails offering discounted Norton AV in the last few days. I ignore them, but will be more vigilant.

Hi all,

Some "scary" and "misterious" stuff... [X(]

Google map mystery of giant lines spotted by satellite in Gobi desert

By DailyMail UK

A Google Maps satellite has spotted a series of bizarre structures during a sweep of the Gobi desert in China.

The internet is buzzing with theories about what their purpose is, with suggestions ranging from giant QR readers to practise targets for military satellites.

To add to the intrigue, they are located on the borders of Gansu province and Xinjiang in northwestern China - an area that the superpower uses to build military, space and nuclear equipment.

Unidentified: This bizarre structure was spotted by a Google Maps satellite on the borders of Gansu province and Xinjiang:

In fact, some of the sites are less than 100 miles from Jiuquan, where China’s space programme headquarters and launch pads can be found.

Some internet users have been trying to overlay one of the strange structures on to various U.S. city maps, worried that there may be a sinister military purpose behind them.

Others have pointed out that if China wanted to attack a U.S. city, it doesn’t need a practise map in the desert.

What’s also fuelling the mystery is that it’s just too difficult to tell what the structures are made of – whether they are painted on or dug into the landscape.

However, upon zooming in, planes and burnt-out trucks can be seen on some of the photographs, which hints that they may indeed be targets of some kind.

Mysterious: At the centre of this structure you can make out planes and trucks, less than 100 miles from Jiuquan where China's space programme can be found:

Speculation: Some internet users have been overlaying the strange structures over maps of U.S cities while a closer view shows burnt out vehicles (right) which have raised questions about whether the desert has been used for military purposes:

Close-up: A zoomed in version of the grid has fulled speculation over the purpose of the structures:
