Turn 13 Apr 1776

New York see's heavy fighting as my attacks are repulsed by the Redcoats.
The nature of the terrain favours the defenders with the choke point just north of New York however my Americans will keep up the pressure to ensure the British keep a strong garrison stationed there

Turn 14 May 1776

The Americans attack Lexington again and keep up the pressure on the British every musket squad the British lose is almost irreplacable as they only receive 11 per month as replacments while i can throw militia at them and not worry to much about losses as they will be withdrawn from the OOB after about 12 turns anyway,My Continental units i will try to preserve as they will ultimatly have to win the war for me along with the French when they arrive??

sapper32 -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (10/9/2010 9:23:22 PM)

Turn 14 May 1776

While most of the action takes place in the North at the moment the Americans are busy down south capturing isolated British outposts and gaining VPs,every turn that goes by i get +2 towards the EEV when it gets to 50 i get a supply bonus when it gets to 75 the French will intervene on the Americans side,as its turn 14 i figure i must have 28 towards the EEV if im winning by 20 or more i get an extra +2 per turn towards the EEV or if im losing by 20 or more i get _2 per turn at the moment im winning by 14 so every vp is valuable

Turn 17 August 1776

The Americans attack the defenders of both Boston and New York put are repusled with heavy losses the British have been fairly quiet and have just defended there strongholds of Boston and NY,Canada remains quiet also what are they up to an attack must be immenent but where they can strike anywhere along the coast with a large army,Every port has a garrison but one strong sea assault and they are ashore.
More pics to follow the British cant remain on the defensive for long they need to destroy my armies to have any chance of winning the war.

Turn 22 January 1777

The war rolls on into 1777 i think im still in a good position and im gaining +2 to the EEV each turn so now on turn 22 i should have 44points thats not to far away from 50 where i get a supply boost.I think the British are going to be a lot more active this year so i need to try and keep my existing American forces intact ready to operate jointly with the French when they arrive maybe 15 to 20 turns away.

Turn 25 April 1777

General Putnam has relinquished his sword and his command wiped out thats about six regiments,Benadict Arnold has taken command of the Continental forces in New England and will try and hold the British at bay.
The rest of the Continental army is guarding the ports along the coast and garrisoning the interior against indian raiders.Reinforcements will have to be sent to New England if the British campain there goes on units from Virginia/New Jersey/Delaware and the Carolinas will all have to be sent to bolster the New England army

Raindem -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (11/16/2010 4:45:36 AM)

I had completely forgotton that Ian mentioned he would being writing an AAR of our playtest.  Thanks for posting the AAR Ian!  From a development standpoint the scenario is coming along well.  The PBEM side of it is pretty much done and the graphic mods are as good as I can get them.  I'm starting to work on the PO now.

As far as our match goes Ian has chosen to fight for New England.  This caught me off-guard as I expected him to take his army and flee (as I had done in our first game).  If I would have shown up with sufficient strength at the beginning I could have driven to Albany.  As it stands I've been slowly gaining ground but without enough momentum to carry me to any objectives of importance.  The continentals have been holding up well under constant attack so I started looking elsewhere to gain an advantage.

I tried an invasion out of Canada into northern New York, figuring that the Americans were too involved in New England to have anything of substance stationed there.  Mis-judged that one by a long shot and had to beat a retreat back to my start line lest I hand Ian a Saratoga.

My one success over the last few turns was the re-capture of Savanah.  I had been scouting it for awhile and noticed the Americans had only a single Militia regiment garrisoning it.  A couple of my Ship-of-the-Line squadrons bombarded the town and 3 regiments of Redcoats easily captured it.

Curt

sapper32 -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (11/30/2010 10:51:14 PM)

Well guys ive lost several saved turns for the AAR during my house move and switching over to my new laptop so i will just bring you up to speed with events since turn 28 above.
Curt and his British have seized the initiative in New England and made several amphibious landings along the coast using his superior naval power to good effect and driven my Americans out of Lexington and concord and is continuing to advance towards Springfield(-5 suppy to me if he captures it).
Landings at New Bedford and New Haven in connecticut caught me off guard and enabled the British to capture Hartford(my supply point in connecticut)My forces have surrounded Hartford and will capture it soon but for now my supply will have to come all the way from Albany across the Hudson river,This poor supply situation and the powerfull attacks by the British have left my considerable army in New England in a poor state and the outcome of this campain isnt looking to good at the moment.

Turn 35 February 1778

Lake Champlain Turn 35

The British have advanced south but have come up against my army dug in around crown point and have failed to make a breakthrough.

sapper32 -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (12/6/2010 9:34:42 PM)

We move on to September 1778 now as ive misplaced the turns since turn 35 also during my house move,So far the British have captured Springfield and have been attacking relentlesly trying to destroy my main army and drive me from New England but are begining to slow down now as there Infantry regiments have become a shadow of there former selfs but there Arty remains very powerfull,Also Savanah has been captured by the British lowering my supply levels but on the whole i think a corner has been turned and the battle for New England is turning my way.

Raindem -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (12/16/2010 1:54:45 PM)

The French have arrived, and with Washington's main army having recovered, the Americans are pushing me back towards Boston. This particular game is a bit unusual since 75% of the action has been centered around Boston. But there are developments in other theaters.

Some militia outflanked my positions in upstate New York and forced a retreat back into Canada. I decided to abandon St. Johns and dug in at Montreal. Blowing the bridges temporarily stopped the American advance. I presume they are pausing to bring up fording equipment.

Savannah was recaptured.

The Americans have moved into East Florida and St. Augustine is under seige. I'm going to fight for this one (I feel I gave in on Savannah too easily). The American advance has activated the Seminole indian nation who are now in the fight on the British side. I took a few of their warparties and went behind enemy lines and blew the only bridge over which supplies can pass. Though the force is not especially strong I'm unable at this time to eliminate it, so right now that battle is at a stalemate.

On a strategic level things are not looking good. The Spanish will be joining in before long and then my gulf coast possessions must surely fall. Even maintaining the status quo, if I was able to do it, would not bring victory.

sapper32 -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (12/16/2010 9:00:20 PM)

Turn 50

Ive decieded to keep up the pressure on the British by advancing towards Montreal whos capture would be a big blow to my enemy,Militia and Continental units are moving north as we speak and soon i should have a considerable force in place.

sapper32 -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (12/16/2010 9:04:40 PM)

Turn 50 New England

My American troops aided by the French have driven the Brtish out of New Bearn and im now turning my attention on New London,It seems that the British are spent as an offensive force so im starting to focus on driving the British into the sea now and im putting together a powerfull army that will bear the brunt of the comming campain.

sapper32 -> RE: Playtest AAR Call to Arms (12/16/2010 9:09:12 PM)

Turn 50 New York

There has being no action in New York since the early part of the war now and as you can see from the pic below a scouting mission was sent to assess the defenders strenth if the garrison is weakened by withdrawls to bolster New England then it will be a tempting target
