However, pay attention to the type of ship. Many of the liner class APs have a cruise speed that is right at or just below max speed. These ships were designed to cruise at high speeds. You may be better off just setting it to mission speed where you will only give up a knot or two. In real life, most merchant ships cruise and operate at "full ahead". That is, their top speed is their cruising speed. They are designed for economy and they are designed to work at optimal speed. Any faster or slower means extra cost. A modern freighter that cruises at 16 knots may call for a few extra turns on the shaft to get say 17 knots, but the cost and wear for the extra knot is not worth it.
