ADB123 -> Check your subs (11/28/2010 2:02:49 AM)

I just started the second turn under the new Patch and I noticed that all of my subs, except for two Dutch subs, received some level of Systems Damage - mainly to one or more Deck guns. Even subs in Port received damage. I have no idea yet whether or not it will repair... (I've also posted this in the Tech Support Forum.)

scott64 -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 3:11:56 AM)

Subs are just fine. [8|]

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 11:54:35 AM)

Well all of my subs are screwed. All have had their Torp tubes halved and the deck guns damaged?!?

FWIW I'm playing stock game scenario 1........

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 11:55:08 AM)

Any thoughts?

ADB123 -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 11:58:47 AM)

That's what I've seen, as has my opponent. I've sent a save to Michael M and he is looking into it.

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 3:22:17 PM)

Hi Michael,

I can understand how the damage would get repaired but how about my torpedo tubes as they're not 'dmagaed' per se they have just been halved in number from before?

In my above screenshot for example SS Sargo now has 2 tubes front and 2 tubes back rather than 4 for each.

Thanks

Terminus -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 3:43:45 PM)

It's the DB update routine that's failed; the data is correctly entered in the database, but the update for an ongoing game is shagged. It's happened to a game of mine as well.

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 3:58:18 PM)

Hmm...so are my subs all nerfed forever and I can't change/fix the number of TT's?

I'm going to ask my opponents to go back to the turn prior to the upgrade, and then "just say NO" to the data base upgrades... (hopefully that helps until Michael gets it fixed in the next patch.)

sigh...

Good idea!

How will that work? From what I remember we can't downgrade to an older version? So even if you load an older turn it will still have the current patch applied?

Patch 05 consists of two parts, the code and the data. You are not required to apply the data part "in game" ... so by going by you can remove the application of the data piece without removing the code piece.

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 6:00:22 PM)

Thanks Joe,

How do I apply part of the patch but not all of it?

cantona2 -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 6:12:34 PM)

Ramon and I have applied patch and all my subs are A-OK!

Terminus -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 6:45:57 PM)

Interesting, isn't it?[&:]

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 6:50:24 PM)

Baffling and frustrating yup.....[;)]

T - do you know how I apply part of the patch but not all of it?

Terminus -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 6:52:27 PM)

Answer "No" when it asks you if you want to apply the database update. Comes right after you try to load your save.

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 6:53:46 PM)

Thanks. I'll run it by Faber to see if he's happy to go back.

Hi T. Just tried to reload old game........and was asked about the phwdex(sp) changes....and version number changes......but not the database changes.....as I was asked in the first time I patched......

What is my Penguin Pea-brain missing..

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 7:14:58 PM)

Hmm. Faber tried to open an old turn and this happened: "Just tried to reload old turn.....it asked me about the phwdex? change and the newer version change....but not the database changes...(as it had before)....which seemed to be applied"

Any thoughts anyone?

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 7:18:12 PM)

Double post. Thanks Faber[;)]

I have no idea why it works this way, but here is how I was able to back up (playing PBEM as Japanese)

1) Load old turn. Say yes to phwdex(I can't spell it either) and version number changes.
2) Watch combat
3) save game
4) end game
5) load saved game, when asked about database, say no. When asked about further prompting say no
6) proceed with orders

Game is now playing with new code and old database. Option to change database is available through "preferences" screen

Speedysteve -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 7:35:58 PM)

Thanks Pompack.

Faber - let me know how it goes.

Do I assume I (as Allies) have to follow this same procedure?

have you even been asked about it? I wasn´t but got messages about not being at the same patch as my opponent. [&:]

When I play as Allies vs AI it asked me at load after the first two questions; however that save is "during" the Allied turn. I would think it would work the same way as Allied PBEM but if it doesn't the procedure above seems like it would work. It looks like the query is only triggered when you load a save from during a turn. I guess. Maybe. Perhaps. [:)]

OK, team game. I was already confused with all the combinations but now we have permutations[:D] Or maybe it's permutations and combinations. I knew I should have paid more attention in class

Thinking ... [>:]

OK. Speedy is first, does the procedure, saves and sends it to you. So when you load it, the file should already have the internal flags that say no update, no prompt. So you shouldn't have to do anything. Now to check this, hit the preferences button in game and check to see if you have a yellow message at the bottom asking if you want to update the interface. If so, you're cool. If not then .... damfino. But logically, you should be cool. trust me. really.

ADB123 -> RE: Check your subs (11/28/2010 11:02:27 PM)

My opponent (playing the Japanese) and I have gone back two turns and he re-did the turn with the Patch, but he chose "No" for the Database update. When I opened the turn it asked me to accept the "phwhex" (or whatever) changes and I hit the "Yes" button. It then asked me to accept the "...6i" version and I hit the "Yes" button again.

But then it didn't ask me to update the Database. I am assuming that this is because my opponent chose "No" to the Database update.

I did the turn and checked things carefully. I couldn't find anything that looked wrong or different.

Of course, the problems last time turned up on the second turn after the Update, so I'll have to see what happens when I receive the next turn.

Stay tuned.
