V22 Osprey -> Empires of Steel DRM free! (11/30/2010 2:00:06 AM)

The lead developer Brit has stated that if he gets 100 likes on his facebook page he would release a DRM Free version of the game! This is good news for those sitting on fence because of DRM issue.

I gave it a like for you.

boatrigm -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (11/30/2010 3:26:24 AM)

I did the same.....I will buy it once it's DRM free.

sabre1 -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (11/30/2010 3:55:58 AM)

I will buy too, but I don't do twitter, facebook, etc...

I'm old fashioned. [8D]

jjax -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (11/30/2010 5:06:54 AM)

I did not get it and it had nothing to do with DRM. It was the price on release date (I know we are all tired of hearing complaints on price but it's true). The price was way too high for something that looked and played way to similar to an Empires clone. For what it's worth, I did have fun with the demo so I can understand why some people feel justified paying so much for the game.

mgarnett -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (11/30/2010 9:17:59 AM)

It's only $20 now and it's up to 54 likes.

I too was reluctant to purchase EoS at the initial listed price. However, it's since been lowered to $20.00, which seems a lot more reasonable to me. Between that and the game (hopefully) dropping the DRM, you may want to check it out now.

Someone must have unliked... i pushed from 53 to 54  [;)]

You're not alone.

Andrew Williams -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (11/30/2010 7:27:34 PM)

it doesn't hurt... be brave and stay in control.

Jeffrey H. -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (11/30/2010 7:32:51 PM)

Flawed game, for me, it's not about price.

rich12545 -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/3/2010 12:48:05 AM)

The game has improved tremendously over the last year. I'm a total Empire fan and bought the game right after it came out. It's like Empire Deluxe on steroids, way better than the previous versions. The main problem now is the all seeing AI. Humans have fog of war but the AI doesn't. Brit has said he wants to fix it and I believe he will. But that's a game breaker for me and I'll wait until he does to play any more. But it's certainly not a flawed game, just needs a little more work.

sabre1 -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/3/2010 3:31:39 AM)

^ Yep that would be a game breaker for me too.

Jeffrey H. -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/3/2010 9:02:52 PM)

I guess I should try and explain my comment. It's a game that seems to have been developed with a pvp approach with not special efforts made on pvc, (AI) and now seems to be hitting some limits.

rich12545 -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/4/2010 2:27:10 AM)

Let's say the computer ai has been lacking and that's why I haven't played much. But over the last month or so it's been a priority. Still needs work but it's coming. Most games have an ai problem and, for example, Advanced Tactics is not an exception. The ai does not use carriers or paras at all. Not at all. And other units, such as engineers, are deficient. But that doesn't keep it from being a good game if you work around its limitations. Wait on EoS a couple of months and take another look. I've thought from the beginning it has a ton of potential.

Anthropoid -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/4/2010 2:42:50 AM)

I'd say, irrespective if the game is flawed, we should all be likin' the dude just to move gaming one step closer to being TOTALLY DRM free [:D]

sabre1 -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/4/2010 4:26:55 AM)

^ A fair point.

NefariousKoel -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/4/2010 4:58:30 AM)

I bought it after it went on sale and he stated they were wanting to go DRM free. I don't regret it. The thing is like a beer & pretzels wargame construction set with lots of built-in extras.

The gameplay is good light fun. I'm looking forward to creating the setting(s) I want. [8D]

Yeah, shows good intentions.

hello guys !
its really nice post.
i just liked it.
thanks for posting here.

sabre1 -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/4/2010 8:09:11 PM)

When they are DRM free I will purchase and not until then. You can take that to the bank.

I haven't bought a single game from Battlefront since they started their style of DRM.

I don't blame you a bit. I've avoided all their other stuff due to just that. But when I heard EoS was gonna break away from the mold, I decided tossing $20 at it might lend more incentive, with my show of good faith.

The AI opponents really aren't bad from what I've seen. I guess people just want to limit it's FoW cheating? I don't blame them either, but at least it's a bit of a challenge in the meantime.

Hopefully the DRM gets tossed before long so they get rewarded with more hold-outs becoming customers. [8D]

junk2drive -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/6/2010 10:45:04 PM)

Patch out (via facebook) and 61 likes.

How does this compare to a game like Axis and Allies? Wego is an interesting twist.

It doesn't. There are no "territories" so there's not much comparison between the two. It's more like RTS style movement/territory in WEGO style with Strategic Command(?) nation management. The editors are very user friendly and you can download/upload modded stuff directly from in-game.

So it's more intricate/involved than A&A by a ways.

junk2drive -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/8/2010 9:41:24 PM)

"IF" he figures out how to remove BFCs DRM, for $20 I think I would give it a shot.

junk2drive -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/9/2010 7:50:45 PM)

BFC has several posts on FB now for EoS. Latest says new demo with no time limit.

junk2drive -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/9/2010 10:02:26 PM)

According the the latest FB post, it is now 100% DRM free. Somebody buy it and let us know, lol.

V22 Osprey -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/9/2010 11:01:02 PM)

What's "FB"? I have the game and I have seen nothing about DRM.

junk2drive -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/9/2010 11:25:57 PM)

FB is Facebook. DRM is the BFC online activation.

V22 Osprey -> RE: Empires of Steel DRM free! (12/9/2010 11:45:04 PM)

I see what you are talking about. I guess he's only releasing the DRM free version for new customers.
