Chungking - Can you move enough Tojo close enough to sweep the skies clear and then use Oscars to escort in bombers to hit his AF and destroy his supply?? If his supply situation gets bad enough here, then the AI will not move much out to the other bases and units. When I was playing the Allies, I was able to hold on barely until he started hitting this base and my supply situation went from bad to worse. You will know he is in trouble if he tries to send some Hurricanes or P-40K over to defend the airspace.

There is no Chinese airforce, it is all destroyed! Our bombers roam freely, hitting bases, destroying supply, and hitting ground troops :) Major Chinese bases with airfields over 1 are all continually hit so that allied aircraft can't be bought in either. Oscar sweep around just in case, and small Tojo units help escort to encourage the bomber breathern to fly. They are at level 4 forts and almost fully recovered. We are supporting them with ground strikes against the Chinese forces in the base. In the end we loose 5 transports and probably two PB's to the raiders, total points loss to us about 60 (there were 3 big transports sunk) vs 51 Allied points lost... but getting a modern US Cleveland class CL and a Fletcher class DD I think is worth it :)

Raiding is like whacking a hornet's nest. All fun and games at first but you need to leave before the hornets find you. My roommate and I solved this problem by firing on a bee's nest at his ranch with an old British .303 Lee Enfield at about 50 yards. Those bees were really pissed that they couldn't find what was hassling them. [:D]

And therein lies our problem, we haven't researched the B model.... I do my orders first and then save the game file. Then, in situations like yours, I go make the industry changes and if I do something bad like you did, I exit the game and try again until I get it right.

The problem as as we havn't researched the b model, it is not available for production. only the a andc model. Therefore we can't switch the production factory from a-c direct. The Chinese appear to be in full retreat, the central front has collapsed, and they are also pulling back towards Sian. He will probably mass in the centre, we have about 700 AV there, with more on the way. At Kweiyang on the left is is trying to get out of the hex. We will be attacking to damage him. We ant these forces tobe free to advance further west to take Kunming and clear the Burma route. We have landed paras to disrupt his movement and cause dilemas. I'm salivating at the thought of clearing the road rail route that will link Malaysia, Thailand, China and Manchuria. Burma Burma is not so rosy. At least he decided to clear north Burma. This will give us more time to dig in and bring up more forces. We should be freeing up another div from Manchuria in about 7 days. He is currently not contesting us in the air. Recon shows he has pulled fighters back to protect Ceylon and Madras. Not sure if he things something is going to happen, or he figures (rightly) he doesn't need the airforce to clear north Burma. At Myitkynia we have about 500AV behind level 6 forts in Jungle Rough. Once he brings up his mass he will take it... it will be interesting to see how long it will take... We are supporting the gallent defenders from the air... but need to be careful of ambushes. Thoughts. While we have done very well ground wise we are increasingly concerned at how thin we are on the ground. We have used a number of outposts to act as early warning/ magnets for action while we prepared the more important mainline, then the subsequent defensive lines. The Allies soon will be capable of simultaneous sequential "deep battle" style operations. The danger to the Japanese is that without defence in depth the Allies will break through the outer crust, and the inner becomes very very soft as you haven't prepared positions or dug in with even the minimal forces needed to stop para attacks. Therefore we have begun the phased withdrawal of some of our outlying areas so that we can man the first two layers fairly hard and have enough in the third to force a deliberate attack. The Japanese problem is that the Allies have too many options! As we are now in the middle game we are preparing for the long game. For this we need to build up pour HI stockpiles and stockpiles of all the resources. We have expanded some more HI in Java so that the DEI can be more self sufficient, and to use the material that is there without having to ship it home. It also diversifies our economy and makes it a bit more resilient. HI in China will also be repaired, we have a some in Hongkong repairing now and soon we should have 60 more in Changsha. We don't plan to repair the light industry. We have had a steady stream of tankers arrive in the last few months and fuel is moving fairly well. We need more, much more, though. Clearing the road/rail through China will improve the fuel/oil situation and we will need to reposition convoys to take advantage of that. So now our challenge is to create the hardest shell we can to protect our industry/resources as long as we can so we can fight the climatic final battles with the best chance we can generate! Territory is therefore only held now to enable that to happen, and we expect the Empire to slowly shrink so the many "holes" in our shell are closed up. Cheers Rob

Wuffer thanks for the feedback. We "planned" to create the opportunity, in the "hope" that it would happen :) Initially we focussed against Sian in the nth, however Andrew responded well after our initial advances. This drew his reserves this way... We then comitted forces that would have otherwise invaded Ceylon, New Zealand, Perth or beefed up Burma, as in the long run we have far more to gain in China, than expanding the "Empire" for more territory however little more real long term benefit. This forces did well, so we reinforced success, drawing more and more forces from the North (I think we have transferred 6-8 divs from the North now). The key was fighting a "campaign" of little battles to create a positive force ratio with the aim of chewing up Chinese forces for little cost to ourselves. We will now plan to occupy the defensive lines noted by the dashed line, and focus on Kunming in the west. This will then free of the Southern Army units for use elsewhere, and ultimately some China based forces as well. In the north we will harry him back to Sian. However, I thought that having the majority of China's supply making capacity underwraps for 6 months or more would have made them far more vulnerable. I was wrong forts/terrain trump everything, so maneuver is indeed the way to go. Those big stacks are more a liability if simply bypassed by Japan. Nicely done! Your Tojo are losing to P-40k?!? [X(] Why is this happening?? Mine are eating them for lunch. [:D] Then again, I have 4 large Tojo air groups that have steadily become very elite in pilot quality. Now, if I can just find a way to kill those damn B-24s. [:@]
