Also interesting: the message popped up 5 times in a row, and during new game setup, the "Your Empire" slider for "Home System" was all the way down to "Harsh", where it has never been set -- and there are 5 options in that slider. Related?

Aha -- this was the case: I had previously been using the "Star Trek" theme from TRSE, and had added custom empires (5 of them, in fact). When I got to the other empires screen, the error was happening again. Once I removed all of them, the errors stopped.

Hey all!

Version 17 with the Ackdarian is now available for download on the first page. The ships were made from a very small stock of original art, because I had already used the same original shipset to make both the Quameno and Ketarov and I didn't want them to appear too similar. However, overall, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Have fun!

A possible Naxx design. Just messing around trying to find a style. I know people wanted wings (including me) but thats pretty hard to do well with the original art as there aren't any big wings [:D]

Edit: Can anyone tell me what the default Naxx flag colours are? Do they have that dark pinky colour with a pink symbol, or that dark pinky colour with a yellow symbol?

Just looking at my little colour chart, it's the sort of Purple/Pink colour. Between the Dark purple and the bright pink. The secondary colour is yellow.

I'd say that's about the right colour scheme for them you've got there, it's pretty Naxxy looking.

Ackdarians look great! And I don't care if they look a bit similar to Quanemo. They are both aquatic races after all.

Naxilian ship reminds me of Ketarov resupply ship, but looks good otherwise.
Not many races left: Naxilians, Shandars and Atuuks + Ancients and Shakturis if moi remembers right.

Next update will probably be Friday, or maybe tomorrow if things go unexpectedly fast [:D]

It will also probably contain two shipsets, the Naxxilian one, and a replacement for the Humans which will be in the Extra Content folder (either that or the old Human set will go there).

I'm just making the Humans for fun, because to be honest I find the Naxx shipset a bit annoying to make due to flashing lights bug [:@]

Those new 'umie ships look great. I'll probably replace the old ones with these, they look that good. They remind me of something but I can't remeber what it is.

Hey all!

I'm having serious problems with the Naxx set. Basically, I don't like them. They look out of place among the other shipsets because of their odd colours, for some reason the flashing lights bug is really prominent (I'm guessing it has something to do with the colours also) and blocky wasn't really what I had in mind for them.

So, I'm asking for suggestions. Basically, pick a shipset from among the original DW, and tell me of any colour changes you think would be done to that set for Naxxilians, and any rough shape ideas you have. I'll then make a few and see what looks good.

The ships need not look anything like the original ships from that set remember. For example, the above Human ships are made from MinorSets/Family6. I'm just totally stuck for inspiration/ideas. Anything would help [:D]

In the meantime, the new Humans are ready, its a bit late now, so I will upload them tomorrow. I switched the Destroyer and Frigate around in the above post because I think the Destroyer image looks swift and agile and would go better along with the Escort, while the Frigate image looks more bulky and would go better in between the swift looking two and the big two [;)] The set also includes a alternative Cruiser and Destroyer, I put my favourite two as default, but you can have a look and substitute them if you like. [:)]

I'm not sure which set you used on your failed Naxx set, but I'm suggesting family5 from orginal race sets. For colors, replace the yellowish base color with white or silver and use (dark) violet/purple for original red parts. I know there's some other sets with these colors but white seems to fit in with Naxilians home enviroment, ice-planets. And purple... well they are purple... lila... or something like that.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion J HG T. I had a little go with that set, the yellow colour is actually a mix on red and yellow on that set. So its hard to do any coloour editing unless you completely desat the red. I'm using that set to make Ancient Guardian and probably Atuuk too. [;)]

Here is a new idea for Naxx. It will take a bit longer because I'm scrapping the old purple ones. Humans coming after my dinner [:D]

Well, the Naxx are dinosaur like......what if you made their color like a blend or fading from one end to the other green and brown.  Like it would start off a light brown at one end and then gradually become a greener color.  It might also be cool if their ships were kind of like organic skinnned.  Maybe you give their ships some kind of rough texture like that of a dinosaur might be?  Just thinking here take this as you would.

Yeah the dino idea is cool, thats why I originally thought about putting bird like wings (like the Swarm from GSB).  However, thats really, really, out of my artistic reach using only original DW art.

The new Naxx ship looks good. If you look at it in certain way it looks a lot like a dinosaur of somekind, T-rex or something... which is nice.
Looks definetly better than the first concept.

If you look at the new Human ships above, although they look cool, they look a bit 2D compared to all the other ships. This is because the edges of those ships aren't the edges in the original art. I've done the same with the Naxx, but now I'm using Burn brush down the edges and dodge up the middle to make them look less flat. I will probably go over all the new Human ships like this now that I've tried it.

More Naxx previews coming later, I'm now trying to out wings on all their small ships. I'll leave the big 5 wingless though. Here is a example: Colony and Passenger
