20,000+ views says all, compare that to other AARs, only one is close.

kirkgregerson -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/4/2011 11:21:54 PM)

Is this AAR/game done or are we waiting on some more magical fixing from Joel on your game?

Hagleboz -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/5/2011 12:30:30 AM)

I would love to see it continue as well it's been a great read.

PeeDeeAitch -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/5/2011 2:59:20 AM)

The fix fixed stuff. I am not sure it is that worthwhile to continue. I don't brag, but I had gotten to a place where I think I could have held the northern Volga at the end of 1942.

That said, it might just have been an exercise in counter pushing - I had some large encirclements that took the soviets down to parity in numbers in 1942.

randallw -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/5/2011 10:03:53 AM)

Isn't all of this counter pushing anyway? [:'(]

PeeDeeAitch -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/5/2011 5:55:26 PM)

True - it is up to Flam, if he wants I will bang out some more turns.

cpt flam -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/7/2011 5:49:09 AM)

sorry to disappoint a lot of people but i resign
some rec fly reveal another hord of Panzer/Moto ready to go
this turn cost me 40 div INF and 2 CAV corps
all i can do was to buy 5 div
next turn (or the following) he could again make another pocket less big (but pocket anyway) [&o]
the meatgrinder has been too extensive
furthermore just reach turn 18 against Majeloz (losses heav too (3.7 vs 0.8)) as with PDH a turn/day and time consuming
reward for his victory[sm=00000924.gif]

cptflam, understandable, thanks for contributing to this thread, and I will look forward to following your current AAR!

kirkgregerson -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/7/2011 6:47:59 AM)

Personally, I'm glad to see it over. Was a bit of torture watching the Soviets continue make the same mistakes over and over and over again. Could I have done better, maybe and maybe not. But I do know that the skill levels were totally uneven. So this game was expected results when you put a vet against a novice player. From what I've seen in other AARs the Soviets seem to dominate, so it's good to see the axis have a chance in the game for victory more than just holding out until late 45.

Not trying to personally attack the Soviet player, sure he's a stand up guy. But for those that don't see what I've seen happen and come to the same conclusion... you haven't been watching this AAR from turn #1.

Fishbed -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/7/2011 9:30:02 AM)

Kirkgregerson, looks like you can't actually post a message without sounding even not a little bit offensive, can you...? Hope that's a condition they treat in your country...

Capt Flam, thank you for the game! Actually, I wondered if anyone would be willing, if you're alright with it, to take the pounding for some more turns? Just to see what kind of recovery one can expect from the Soviet player if, by miracle, auto-victory is not reached in a couple turns. I would love to actually see a PBEM end, or wake up from its ashes.

I mean, is Tullius interested in this kind of impossible task for instance? [:'(]
That would be quite a challenge

Congratulations must go to PeeDeeAitch for such a resounding victory

But great Kudos to Cpt Flam I suspect very few people would have continued this game as long as he did. [&o]
very well played

The Soviets can probably still take berlin, but they'll be a bit late. There is an on-going AAR of a game vs the AI on "Impossible" and he was probably in worse shape at one point but now has the German AI on the run.

As I said some pages ago (on this same AAR) I think this is clearly a German win so fair play [:)]

Now it's true that the year 1942 saw many Soviet catastrophes (despite the Stalingrad success). The Red Army suffered tremendous losses during spring and summer 1942: 7 armies were totally annihilated.

So could this happen in this game (a recovery à la Stalingrad)? This, only PDH and cpt flam know [:)]

PeeDeeAitch -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/7/2011 2:16:57 PM)

I personally think, as I have said, that the Germans would win this one. I regained full operational mobility in the center and the Volga would be mine by winter (well, not the southern volga, but from Stalingrad-north).

Railheads were up to or near the breakthroughs, and the Soviets were facing huge problems again. I think I played my best 1941 here, and that is why I ended up where I did in 1942. Other games I have made more mistakes.

Klydon -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/7/2011 2:51:49 PM)

Well done to both sides for a very entertaining AAR.

pompack -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/7/2011 4:12:52 PM)

+1

Fishbed -> RE: Misplaced Victories - They were here a second ago... (5/10/2011 3:59:37 AM)

Sorry to bring that up again, it's just that Ive drawn that last week, and couldn't find a scanner before today. It was part of my desperate campaign to lobby your comeback, but apparently it's too little too late, so take it like a little homage [:D]

Kudos to you and the brave Capt Flam [;)]
