Merker -> Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 5:13:08 PM)

Well, I'll let the picture speak for itself. Never thought that was actually possible. Doesn't appear to have any practical applications though since nothing gets mined...

To reproduce it, select a R-ship, right click on a random star and click 'deploy at...'. Would actually be nice if it mined hydrogen...

Cheers

Never tried it actually....nice one Merker, very resourcefull those pestulonians [:)]

Cvan -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 5:41:46 PM)

LOL I didn't even know you can deploy resupply ship. I'm still big noob.

PS: What do my eyes see? Pirates of Pestulon?! When do we get new chapter in AAR?!

Data -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 5:44:44 PM)

That's actually not a noob problem, Cvan, the pedia states that you can deploy them at gas giants and gas clouds. Now I wonder if we can actually deploy them anywhere; they will not get fuel like Merker's example also shows but it would be interesting to know.

Cvan -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 5:52:15 PM)

Well I wanted to say that I actually wasn't aware of the fact that they can be doployed - at all!

Igard -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 6:27:56 PM)

I didn't know we could do this Merker. Very cool.[8D]

Merker -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 7:11:30 PM)

Remains to be seen if they can be deployed at solid planets. If that's the case you can use them as your very own private mining ship, though I don't know how to get it to unload the cargo...

Bingeling -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 7:52:43 PM)

How about giving a resupply ship one of each extractor. Then add shipyard and the required manufacturers, and have it be a mobile shipyard that supplies itself by visiting different planets to mine the required materials itself. Who needs the private sector?

Data -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/12/2011 7:58:45 PM)

Merker, that is indeed the failure point....you can put docking bays on it to transfer the cargo and comerce center to try and make it move it. But it doesn't work

Binge, you're a genius [:)]
It would be slow business as a shipyard needs more resources of varied types but I can just imagine you doing an AAR with only a ship like this as the starting "colony" [:D]
It would fit nicely with the pestulonians as well.

Merker -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/13/2011 10:01:45 PM)

I've also discovered that if the R-ship has fuel aboard and you tell it to "refuel at nearest refuelling point" it stops with the order "refuel at insert_R-ship_name" and draws fuel from its hold. Cool feature that, means you can make an endless explorer with the right design.

Data -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/13/2011 11:10:09 PM)

Or a mobile pirate base
What a pest [:D]

Shuul -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/14/2011 10:15:04 AM)

It cant build other ships, already tested it earlier. Also it will not mine solid planets, just gas giants/clouds. I think its behavior and possibilities are hard coded.

Data -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/14/2011 10:33:11 AM)

Good one Shuul, indeed they are...many setups have been imagined only to fail to this limit. I tend to like it as it forces us to use the ships as they were intended and not have one big jack of all trades.

Shuul -> RE: Did you know you could do that (3/14/2011 5:20:21 PM)

That is one of "-" for me as Space Empires fan. I liked to build stealthy mobile shipyard, hide it in gas cloud in enemy territory.
DW surely needs somekind of "Mothership" with hard limits:
25% to construction yards
10% to docking bays
15% to cargo
