I sent the screenshots to Kirk before he left on holiday (there is a bit of a delay between the action and the AAR posts), and some of his subsequent artwork contributions was based on this. - I watched the battle over a span of 4 hours, because I was at work and watching it between breaks. Needless to say, it was quite nerve-wracking. - The Japanese were fortunate to have a large port nearby. Had they not, more then half a dozen ships, including 3 BBs, would have sunk. I know this is cold comfort for the the Allies, but for what its worth a number of major fleet units were knocked out of action for awhile. Japan at this point in the game had a port full of broken ships which desperately needed to get to shipyards through submarine-infested waters. - The aircraft which attacked included grounded planes from the CV Shokaku, which was badly damaged after being torpedoed early in the Indochina campaign. - I actually got a lump in my throat when 3 aerial torpedoes slammed into the BB Arizona. Talk about destiny fulfilled!
