I don't know about 1. The smaller scenarios in the game are interesting, though. 2) Basically no. When you play a grand campaign, you must do everything yourself. You can let the AI do some air missions, but this is not a huge time-savings (because that part of the game is pretty easy to manage yourself), and the same with the administrative task of Corps and Army-level support units (SUs) - you can allow the AI to move those around, but that's generally a bad idea (doing it yourself improves the performance of your force by a ton). 3) First turns of the 41 GC can take a long time when you're new. Several hours. Once the game gets rolling, it's pretty easy to finish a turn in under 2 hours. You should also take into account playing other humans as opponents: Generally a much more enjoyable game that way. And you will find that some opponents can do a turn daily, others like myself can do 2 or 3 a week. That might make it a little easier on your free time commitments.
