Here's the front line in T9 before any Soviet moves

Here's a close-up of the Bryansk area where it looks like Kevin has a breakthrough on going

larryfulkerson -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T9 (8/5/2011 12:33:43 PM)

I railed out of Bryansk all the industries there to the far east for safety.  Kevin is within striking range and I couldn't take a chance he would get there before I could save the industry.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T9 (8/5/2011 1:37:35 PM)

Here's what I did with the Northwest Front: I pulled back to more defense-able positions. Kevin has at least a pair of tanks a little further
to the east and he's outflanking all my dudes so rather than get them cut off I thought I'd pull 'em back.

I also pulled some stuff back in the V.L. area because of Panzers further south advancing in this direction.

I also pulled back in the Smolensk area. I'm attempting to form a proper front line somewhere and I'm getting closer to what will work all the time.

Kevin is still hammering away in the Kiev area. I did some pulling back just in case he gets frisky.

I did a tiny bit of pulling back in the south too.

I did about a dozen strikes on some of his airfields and got some hits but lost a lot in return

M60A3TTS -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T9 (8/5/2011 3:17:59 PM)

KLilly's made some interesting choices by not reinforcing the panzers with AGN, getting his mobile units deep into the inhospitable terrain of the Valdai Hills and swamps near Kiev.  That has something to do with the success you've had so far.

At Bryansk you still have decent terrain to defend in so that will help.  He's going to try and pocket you in the south.  You really need to pull all the way back at least behind the Tik/Siny river now.  You're not defending anything in that bulge.

cpt flam -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T9 (8/5/2011 6:31:25 PM)

may be some mistakes in my view [:-]
many citys (Bryansk, Vyazma, ..) have no units
stacks of 3 units in front (some will rout if attacked)

Good catch. I'll do it. Thanks.

Larry might I ask what counter set your using, i assume it is a mod and it looks really good.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 2:56:02 AM)

I turned down production of the U-2VS's by moving 1 point each from each producing city to some other city and now the surviving ones have a lot of damage to repair and won't be producing for quite a while. I just don't think I'm going to need the services of the U-2VS's. They are biplanes, have no upgrade path, are slow and clumsy, I don't have that many partisans to feed etc. I just want to see what difference it makes if any.

I downloaded some mods, it's true, but I'm not sure the counters themselves got changed. The map got modded a great deal and there's icons for the cities with factories in them and there's a pretty cool anchor on ports now. Thanks to you modders out there this game is continuing to be fresh and interesting. With lots of eye appeal.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 3:38:33 AM)

Here's the stuff in D-town that I still need to move somewhere else

larryfulkerson -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 3:39:57 AM)

I started to do them ( the cities with factories that I still need to move yet ) one at a time but then I decided to do a map with labels on it
to show where I still need to move stuff. It's eye opening for me. I have a boat-load of stuff still to move and I don't think there's enough
time left to move it all. Several of the chunks of stuff to move is quite sizeable and will need more than one turn. Kevin is going to
destroy a lot of this stuff I have no doubt. It's probably part of his objectives long-term.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 4:31:38 AM)

That map above with the stuff I need to move yet is going to come in so handy I thought I'd do one for the more northern parts too:

larryfulkerson -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 4:34:26 AM)

Using the maps above I chose to move stuff out of Bryansk and the hex NE of Bryansk ( which contains the following stuff ):

M60A3TTS -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 5:00:07 AM)

You look somewhat overloaded in the area I circled.  You might take some units and position units along the vicinity of the red line to make a breakout more difficult.  Also try to pull a reserve army together if you can from some of the scattered units back in the rear and put them on refit.  That army might save your bacon if he does break out.

randallw -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 9:38:18 AM)

What I did for worrying about factories is to create a list of types and location, by city and coords, using 20th century technology ( pen and paper ).  For most locations to worry about ( anything about easternmost as Moscow ) they tend to be urban or city areas, with just a few towns.

Pawlock -> RE: 1.04.36 KLilly vs Fulkerson T10 (8/6/2011 1:57:18 PM)

I personally would'nt bother moving the Mig3 factories as they stop producing late 41 and dont upgrade,Id also only move one of the IL 10 as it will be fully repaired and rebuilt by the time it comes online.

Really good idea, thanks. The last thing I need is for him to get a really good breakthrough going. It would be easy for him to make a gigantic pocket there.

A list is a good thing but I like visual aids, pictures, big ones, so I can see what's where and what's really really threatened etc.

Sounds good. We're still in August, 1941 and it's been a long summer. I'm thinking that there's a lot of Mig-3's in the pool and stopping the production of the Mig-3 isn't a game stopper I don't think.
