Here is a good question for you though, does the same apply to both sides? Allies always seem to be able to build faster, but that could just be due to larger numbers of mechanized (read Engineer Vehicles) Engineering units.

I reopen this excellent thread because I discovered it just now through a link in the technical forum.
I thought to increase the size of a base was costly regarding supply consumption but assumption n°2 in the first post does not sustain this affirmation.
I have readen somewhere a engineer squad is using 1 supply point per phase (morning and afternoon) when building but it doesn't seem to be the case according to this thread.
Where is the truth ?

I think the unit itself will "eat" 1 supply point per phase...is that what you were asking?

Building itself requires an entirely separate amount of supplies, as detailed in the original posts.

It is a great thread though, thanks for digging it back up.

my best info gleaned from this forum:

base damage repair is 'free' - no cost except for the engr unit(s) normal supply draw.

base construction costs 1 supply per day per engr point involved in construction, in addition to normal supply draw.

(1 engr squad = 1 point, 1 engr vehicle = 5 points)

Interesting charts here on base expansions, wondering if there any like this based on fort upgrade? Been trying to keep track of engineers and supplies on base. Some bases will need to improve port and/or airfield in order to go higher on fort upgrading due to huge supplies demand and if it exceed it would be spoilage involved. Not sure if upgrading airfields will increase supply dumps at that base, i know ports would.

I think unlimited is combined size of 8 or larger. Been that way for a long time now.

EDIT: Nope, it's combined size of 9 - I just checked in a game.

Okay now i know it have both AF and Port to maximize the supply reserved, still like to know about how to deal with fort upgrades though.

Just found this - awesome thread and thanks for all the work!

So looks like it takes 373 days and a bunch of supplies to go from 0(0) to 3(0).

New rule of thumb - no 0(0) bases to be built past size 2(0). And not many of those either!!

An important add to the construction issue is the effect of 'Cold Weather Zones', manual section 12.0.

Construction cost in the cold zone is doubled during November thru February.
