I like that there is still plenty hidden under the hood, such as pilot training. Allows for more varied styles of play.

Zulu, yes we shot down 12 zeros but at a cost of around 30 of ours. I'm not happy with that ratio. Try to do a mass fighter ambush. That's what mine was.

As to all thanks for posting, keep it coming.

So Im at work it's a little slow. I'm thinking about were I want to put those P38s. My thoughts are as followed.

DEI
Reasons: make him really pay for it. The Dutch will get some P40Es and Hurris in 2 months. I will also be able to push in some Am P40s. There are RRs around so I can move them around if I have to. When the end comes I can bring them down to Oz.

Burma
reason: I think a safer area for them, with just as much oppurtunity to kill Japs. RR are all over the place for rapid movements. There will be
Hurris and what not in the AO. When the time comes fall back to India. Cons the only Am sqd in the area is slated for china, with half baked pilots. I can pull them back to the oven and cook them longer but I would be taxing my reserves then. I can send a sqd over now and it will take 40 or so days to get to Cape Town.

Just found out today that my best ASW pilots are in the Indian AF and they don't have much to work with in the way of planes. I do have a few Kiwis that are good in ASW they are now heading to a sqd with Hudson LRs at Suva. By the time I get some naval vessels with decent ASW assets, I should have some well trained pilots.

FYI I have converted 10 DDs into APDs. I will convert the rest to DEs. I really hate his subs, i do have to say his subs haven't been that bad.

Doc, thanks for the feedback on pilot training was good to know. As for the P38's, my thoughts (as scattered as they are, LOL), would be the burma theatre using them to harrass and cover the retreat to India.

I guess my guys fell asleep on guard duty.  He did a bombardment attack to wake them up.  Mac spilt his coffee all over his freshly pressed shirt and was pissed.

Singers
A sad day.  Singers fell today.  It was a brave fight they inflicted 2,300 casualties before being overran.

DEI
Kendri and Bolea was invaded.  KB sent a 103 val raid on Ambon.  Wish I would of had my 3 fighter flying for that one.  I guess I messed up his Zeros a little.  I had O19 send a fish at one of the DDs in the KB TF.  So DEI will soon be cut off from Oz and only chance of anything will come from the Indian Ocean.  Supplys will be the only thing if any is sent here.  I will prob try and evac the air units at the last second possible.

Nothing else is really going on besides logistic stuff.

1. O-19 and O-20 are the Dutch minelaying subs. You might want to carefully assess whether they are best used dropping mines or trying to torpedo the enemy and in turn be subjected to a much higher risk of being sunk by Japanese ASW efforts.

2. The Lightnings are best employed in sweep missions. Hence move them to the theatre where you will be conducting the bulk of your sweeps.

3. Better to err on the side of evacuating your air from DEI early rather than late.

4. Try to save one of your Dutch fighter squadrons to allow for fighter pilot training. One of the 1943 Dutch bomber units which actually arrives under RAAF command can actually be converted to use the Australian Kittyhawk IV fighter.

Alfred, you are right about the minelaying subs. I took a chance. So sweeps are best for the P38s. Hmm. Ok I will pull them out before it's to late and I was going to try and keep a sqd or 2 alive. While I'm talking about I'm goin to try and pull out the BFs with the 100 av support. Thanks as always Alfred.

Zulu oh do I know what a port strike can do to subs.

shock attack at the dot base above Chengchow. We lost 365 to his 1200. He has 3 ID and 1 IR there. My forts are down to 1.

That I could see Alfred the Dutch are static restricted .. where to evacuate them to? I did find that the fact the Dutch subs torps actually work to cause my IJ opponet to really slow down his operations. It only took a couple of hits and every movement had to be screened. .. Just a thought ..

Damn in my sleepyness, I accidentlly went into Koniu's thread.  I sent him an email telling him of what I did and that I didn't look.  I panicked and xed out of the screen.   So thats a heck of an update for you all.  My stupid screw up.  I will keep you all updated with what he says.  I will now go to bed.

I must of scared him during the night phase.  Three Hudsons on nav att at night targetted one of his carriers, but they all missed.

Wake
Best single day of the airwar for the Allies.  Seven P40Bs engaged 24 Nells and shot down 14 and 2 more down ops. Love it

Bombardment attacks all over.  He lost close to 600 to my 5 at Bataan.  He did do a delib attack at the dot base north of Chengchow both lost around 1,000 men each.

Lets talk about my plans.

China
Defensive war.  I am pulling back to cities or rough hexs around the cities.  I am fighting for Chengchow, Dot base above Chengchow, and Kukong.  I will prob lose the dot base soon.  I have no hope of keeping Chenchow or the surrounding bases.  I want to make him earn his victories.  I do see atleast one unit leaving the Chengchow hex.  I am looking weak spots in his lines that I can drive thru and cause trouble.  At this point I am only looking for hit and run ops. Unless I feel that I can come out ahead of a nasty battle.  HMM will that happen in China.  But I am doing recon of areas to see whats in certain bases. 

So I have alot of troops around Changsha, and Chengchow. I am moveing more towards Sian and in the general are of Nanning. 

I just traded in the modified P40Bs for actual P40Bs in the 3 AVG sqd.  So the other squadron will get those airframes and be able to come back online.  Soon I will have some P39s and B26s.  I don't know if I will leave them in Burma/India or move them into China.  I might move them in and out.  To much bombing from China will eat up alot of supply. 

Speaking of which I am trying to push some towards China from Rangoon and its not doing so well.  More later its time to spend time with the FU oh I mean the Finance Unit.

KB hits a CL TF. I figure he will try and finish it off next turn. He didn't have any zeros flying with his strike package. I find that weird. I broke th TF down to ships with the same speed and I'm sending out some useless TFs to try and draw off some of his planes. I will try and LRCAP the withdrawing ships. I will try night nav and torpedo attacks if he comes within range.

China
He delib attack the dot base above Chengchow again. He lost 1,000 to my 500. Forts are back to 1. I am trying to send reinforcements here now.

Koniu attacked my base (I will get the name for you all when I get home) on Mindinaou (sp). He lost 500 to my 4.

I am pleased with my ground troops. I will post more later.

Interesting turn for subs.  I sunk an AK he sunk a TK and xAP.  Seawolf attacked 3 diffent ships this turn.  But nothing went boom.  I 57 attacked 3 differnt ships also but sunk 2 of them.  Never seen one sub attack 2 ships in one turn let alone 3.

No follow on attacks from the KB. 

SoPac
MKB might be heading towards Oz to do some raiding.  I have 65 P40Es with green pilots waiting.  I kinda hope he does.  I don't expect much from the green P40s but I do have 2 CV TFs moving around in that area.  It wouldn't take much for me to get them into range.  I can even produce 2 small SAGs as bait.  If he continues towards Oz next turn I will bait the trap.  Before you ask Intel has this TF with 33 fighters 50 bombers and 50 aux with 9 ships.  Will stand by and wait for things to develop.

My thoughts on Burma

Rangoon has lv 3 forts at 13% with 780 AV.  I plan a fighting withdraw in the area.  I am worried that he will be able to flank me or drop troops behind Rangoon.  I combat troops in all the bases but those in open terrain he can bomb to death.  I have 2 more Hurri sqds coming in, when those get operational, I will move the 3 Hurri sqd to Rangoon and open up the air war again. 

I have supply everywhere but where I want it.  I still haven't figured out how to push it to China.  But its not all a bad thing the bases up north in the jungle have 2 or 3k of supply.  I will need this when I start to fall back so I will leave it and stockpile more. 

He is reconing all the bases in the area.  He hasn't made it to Tavoy yet, but he is ground bombing open terrain bases.

Pburg, AV 484[:D] Nice air battle over Pburg today.  Koniu swept with Zeros, my guys were having tea at the time.  He came in later with Zeros and Sallys, 8 Sallys went down.  PM phase he came in with Zeros and Lilly's, 5 of them didn't make it home.  I lost 3 B339s and 1 Buff.  I have a new ace today.  I now have 5 of them[&o].

Lost the MKB.  I am looking for it with everything I have in the area.

I see an amphib fleet forming up now. Is he coming to Pburg, Burma or somewhere over the rainbow.

One thing I did was to establish bases in India and prepared my LB's to hit him once Ragoon fell. Those open terrain hexes are murder on armor moving in teh open. It slowed the Burma advance considerably and although Burma fell ... he had to comitt more troops and the delay set into the Monsoon season where next year the roles will be reversed.

The other thing .. have you thought about where to draw the line and where you will engage yet mid '42?

I have the same idea, I know Burma will fall.  So I'm not putting much into it.  I have sent 2 B26 sqds to Burma along with what the British send.  I want to give him a taste of his own medicine with ground bombing. 

Mid 42.  I am watching where he is and isn't.  Have to say right now Tarawa is looking good.  Nothing going on in this area.  I might make a play for Marcus it is currently unmaned.  Marcus would only be a hit and run op.  I would kinda like to keep some bases in the DEI or Timor.  I haven't seen anyone make a run up that way in an AAR yet.

Undamaged facilities do not consume any supplies. However, keeping their toggle to "repairs on" runs the risk that the enemy will damage them during the turn and as part of the end of turn housekeeping, supplies will be expended repairing 1 point of damage before you gain control of the process at the start of the planning stage next turn.

Quiet turn again beside KB is on the wrong side of Java.  For some reason his search planes didn't find a few of my convoys.  They are running away right now. 

Burma
He is bombing some of my Inf units in open base hex's.  I am sending down the AVG and a Hurri sqd to LRCAP the base he's bombing.  He sweeps Rangoon but dosen't sweep the base he is bombing.  Hopefully I will hit his bombers tomorrow.

LOL  yes, but I have been staggering my CAP.  With his attack at Pburg, I had the B339's at 10,000ft and my Buffs at 20,000.  The Zeros went after my B339's and my Buffs got free shots at the bommbers.  The P40s got into unescorted bommbers.  time to go eat be on later.

I really really wish I could have, correction, would have thought out the air war in December-January. I just jumped into a PBEM after a couple of hundred turns against the stock AI which was easy to rupture. I have started to divide some Sqds to provide layered CAP in Burma, but he just sweeps sweeps sweeps, man it hurts. I have to rotate sdqns out, sometimes daily, for replacements.

Today we fought in the air over Burma.  We lost 1 Buff and 4 hurris.  He lost 25 Sallys[X(], no Zeros though.

Wake
A 3 ship Jap TF is heading towards Wake.  I have 2 TFs unloading now, so my SAG is going to move in and cover the unloadings.

Kendri
There is a LYB TF (4 ships).  I have a SAG going in tonite and the Hermes is around Ambon waiting for any survivors.

China
I set up a fighter ambush, lets hope that it works.

Yea forgot to tell you all.  E.T. Nicholas shot down 4 Sallys on his first mission.  He was wounded during the battle.  The nurses at Rangoon are taking real good care of him.  50 more hurris will be in the operation around Rangoon soon.   So with these guys and what I have here now should give me the numbers to start taking on Koniu's Zero's. 

I have 50 P40E's at Darwin.  I am thinking of moving them up into Java and start making a stand there in the air war.  I have 65 P40E's at Townsville.  2 more fighter sqds and 1 recon are on there way to Sydney.  I am waiting for all my Mohawks to enter the replacement que so I can start to buy out the P38's.  I am also slowly replaceing the green fighters in my sqds with slightly better ones (50s-60s).  I am holding back my best for the P38s. 

DEI
Pburg might get up to 500 AV.  That will be nice.  It is at fort 2 with 20%, but has some runway damage to repair.  I just remembered I need to turn off the damage repair here. 

Time to eat more later
